lotr is free unlimitedly... even if you hit lvl 30 there are ways to earn TP (real money) to buy areas in the game. even if you dont buy areas the main storyline quests are always free. you always have 2 skirmishes to play daily and daily tasks for quick exp. im a f2p. im lvl 44 champion going on lvl 45 named Erelord, the game is great even for f2p people and you could always pay 10$ for a 30 day membership. not bad and that membership UNLOCKS EVERY LOCATION. so yea f2p and still fun

WoW was better, during Classic and TBC. But current Lotro f2p vs Cataclysm or Wotlk, lotro wins big time. WoW has lost all its feeling, the leveling is boring as hell where you just play several hours a day, every day, just to get to the highest level as fast as possible. The Lotro leveling is fun and is really enjoyable, youre not rushing you are taking youre time and enjoying the beutiful graphics and well-polished enviroment. (Atleast I do).

well Iv played both games for 5 months each and got to the max lvl on both. WoW is fun for like an hour but eventually killing boars gets boring, it has average graphics but the pvp kicks the shit out of LOTRO. I am a massive lotro fan so iv read all the tolkien books and seen the movies numerous times but the game is ass. All the pussies going around being nice to each other cos u can only pvp once u reach a certain high ass lvl. IMO both games are average, they both have ups and downs

@dkzjesse Your comment inspired me to play lotro for a bit to remember how it was and i agree. It really is better than wow, the graphics are beyond the wildest dreams of WoW and everyone actually helps people. I am especially a big fan of the main story line quests.

1. World pvp, that you take every step you go. WoW has that.
2. Choosing race, i mean, those orcs, trolls. (Well, actually you can play as a monster, but it's not the same) WoW also has that, so you can choose which side to play in.
3. Variety of classes. I also liked the Talent system, so you can switch to dps, if you got bored tanking or healing.

@dkzero Alot of them are great, I've met people in the Bloodlust, and Blackout battlegroups; but I have to say, that the lower-end of the servers, e.g. Balnazzar and Crushridge, Dentarg and Saurfang, they have bad communities.
Believe me, and Balnazzar (server I used to be on) wasn't a very prestige server either, but Draenor and Argent Dawn are the two flexible servers, and they're great in terms of community.
Have you seen LOTRO anyway? The OOC there is spammed constantly...

It's because they lost a huge amount of money due to alot of Turbine's fail games, LOTRO was the only popular game, since it took the idea away from Sierra when they collapsed back in 2003. The community consists of only old-people who are closed-minded and with free to play, the community will be more dynamic: LOTRO community are hypocritical, believe me.
WoW and LOTRO are just as fun as each other, but WoW has better gameplay. :-)

I played WoW for 3 years, LotRO for 1. My honest opinion, Lord of the Rings is a masterpiece of a mmo. WoW is just plain retarded anymore, play it for 2-3 months and you have seen it all. I used to play world of warcraft myself but being a fan of tolkiens work mainly from his books I shifted to Lotro just recently. Lvl 20 Warden I am currently using. both games have their pro's and con's with wow I definitely do not miss the childish chuck norris and anaI jokes. recently tried tanking in lotro in a 6man group and trying to figure out if I had solid aggro was atrocious it seemed like everyone was tanking even the dps.maybe i need to learn the game more I find graphics better lotro
@Halafang well...Warden is a tough class to learn with the gambits and everything...though I can say from experience, once you know how to do it, they are GREAT at holding aggro
in my opinion both games are the best MMRPG out there to date..i play WOW when LOTRO is inbetween expansions, and LOTRO when WOW is inbetween expansions...and just like every MMRPG out there when the expansion comes out the lore gets forgotten, and the quality of quests,raids,and gear gets obsolete....case in point Molten Core for WOW and Helegrond for LOTRO

@snowwy437 My Lore-Master has more skills than any WoW character, my Warden has more spells than any other WoW character. I have 8 level 80's on Wow. The world in LotR's seems much more vast than WoW, and looks a whole lot more unique than WoW's bland and linear world. Ever been to the Misty Mountains or Mines of Moria in LotRO? Well nothing in WoW comes close to those zones. LotR's > WoW.

Symptom's that the guy who made this one sided video is 10 years old -
1.) He made this video making an obvious to make WoW look better than LOTRO, by posting better music for WoW and garbage music for LOTRO.
2.) He shows us clips of his level high level druid and rogue in BC zones, and clips of a level 5 just fighting mobs. It's like he just downloaded the game just to make a video.
3.) He's an Alliance.

well Iv played both games for 5 months each and got to the max lvl on both. WoW is fun for like an hour but eventually killing boars gets boring, it has average graphics but the pvp kicks the shit out of LOTRO. I am a massive lotro fan so iv read all the tolkien books and seen the movies numerous times but the game is ass. All the pussies going around being nice to each other cos u can only pvp once u reach a certain high ass lvl. IMO both games are average, they both have ups and downs

Some things that i miss in lotro from wow are:
1. World pvp, that you take every step you go. WoW has that.
2. Choosing race, i mean, those orcs, trolls. (Well, actually you can play as a monster, but it's not the same) WoW also has that, so you can choose which side to play in.
3. Variety of classes. I also liked the Talent system, so you can switch to dps, if you got bored tanking or healing.

@dkzero Alot of them are great, I've met people in the Bloodlust, and Blackout battlegroups; but I have to say, that the lower-end of the servers, e.g. Balnazzar and Crushridge, Dentarg and Saurfang, they have bad communities.
Believe me, and Balnazzar (server I used to be on) wasn't a very prestige server either, but Draenor and Argent Dawn are the two flexible servers, and they're great in terms of community.
Have you seen LOTRO anyway? The OOC there is spammed constantly...

It's because they lost a huge amount of money due to alot of Turbine's fail games, LOTRO was the only popular game, since it took the idea away from Sierra when they collapsed back in 2003. The community consists of only old-people who are closed-minded and with free to play, the community will be more dynamic: LOTRO community are hypocritical, believe me.
WoW and LOTRO are just as fun as each other, but WoW has better gameplay. :-)

in my opinion the lord of the rings trilogy and the books were epic and had a great storyline behind it. So storywise lord of the rings wins. However gameplaywise world of warcraft is more exciting, Lord of the rings gameplay is kind of boring . I used to play world of warcraft myself but being a fan of tolkiens work mainly from his books I shifted to Lotro just recently. Lvl 20 Warden I am currently using. both games have their pro's and con's with wow I definitely do not miss the childish chuck norris and anaI jokes. recently tried tanking in lotro in a 6man group and trying to figure out if I had solid aggro was atrocious it seemed like everyone was tanking even the dps.maybe i need to learn the game more I find graphics better lotro

1. ganking low level characters in wow (or ones that are fighting with mobs) while listening to random music
2. starting a low level character in lotr. that'll hardly show anything about the game (on later levels it's hardly boring)

@BerndPoebel the pvp area in lotro is available even to trial players and guess what?
it sucks ass.
its like a wintergrasp but completely unbalanced and without the siege engines.
and with less players, i bet.
i agree with gallagher. you need 2 factions and world pvp, otherwise its endless grinding vs retarded npc's.
wish they had made this game how it was supposed to be, with movie rights and 2 factions.

@BerndPoebel hahahahahahhaa you know nothing his wow char is like lvl 30-40 which isnt high at all, i have 4 lvl 80's and their soooooooooooooooo fun to play when you get to the highest level, LOTRO has better graphics but cant compare with the variety of races and spells and all that, people cant compare to both games if you havent played both, i have and trust me wow has the bigger world, better classes,races and spells, trust me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(but LOTRO is alright but wow i better!)

@snowwy437 True :) and WoW's graphics are actually very nice.. but you have to max all graphics just as Lotro to have some nice looking graphics... but in WoW even when your graphs are on lowest it's still a nice view.. Imo lotro sucks on low graphs.. I've played till level 10 or somethin but quit playin it.. cause the ambient in the game was cold and boring.. WoW has a lot of variety in it :) WoW wins.. cause many has tried to beat WoW.. but failed..

@snowwy437 My Lore-Master has more skills than any WoW character, my Warden has more spells than any other WoW character. I have 8 level 80's on Wow. The world in LotR's seems much more vast than WoW, and looks a whole lot more unique than WoW's bland and linear world. Ever been to the Misty Mountains or Mines of Moria in LotRO? Well nothing in WoW comes close to those zones. LotR's > WoW.

@BerndPoebel I agree with what you said about the guy making a bad comparisson, but don't get fooled by WoWs graphics. Sure they are not as striking as LoTRs, but I just love the fresh artstyle. Love it. It still says nothing about either game. That being said, LoTRO is now free to download, free to play and I am finally checking it out :). Wish me luck.

1.) PVP area in Lotro? ummm... WoW is a pvp area.
2.) i would arguably say that more adults play wow than kids. Have you ever seen the complications of the raiding base or WoW? ffs there used to be 40 man raids!!! guilds with 200+ Active level 80 characters now. several devoted raiding groups in a single guild. WoW is far more expansive than lotro. bottom line. i don't see 12 million people on lotro...
