@fuckamericanidiot - the answer is No. playing rhythm guitar is a no brainer for any good lead guitarist especially metallica rhythm guitar is very easy to play. If you want difficult rhythm guitar try covering Fredrik Thordendal and if you want to look like a total fool cover the rhythm playing of Vicente Amigo.

Everyone's asking for tabs, so here:

From 1:43 to 1:47 --- main riff in this clip. Low E string: 1h3p1p0 then open E extended power chord. Get the timing right.

At 2:09 to 2:10 --- the little minor riff. Low E string: 3h5b6 (half step bend, quickly release bend and come back to 5th fret) then 3h5p3/1 (slide to the first fret) then repeat the main riff.

This is ridiculously easy but catchy. Very harmonic minor feel to it.
