If you're referring to the part where he tells the white girl there's nothing she can do to help him, in the autobiography he mentions this incident and expresses regret and the wish that he could find this girl and let her know what he had come to know. Malcolm never stopped learning, that was part of his greatness. His was a very difficult life, but he always had a thirst for truth and knowledge, and never cast that aside.

As much as I LOVE this movie. One of my favorites.
There are a few flaws,
Some of the black and white footage is out of date, since some of the incidents occur in the late 60s after Malcolm was killed, and in this point of the film, the era would be late 50s and early 60s.
I first watched this movie when I was 9 years old and I am STILL watching it today. Next year will be it's 20th anniversary, I really hope Spike Lee re-releases it, that would be an awesome 29th b-day present for me!

In his biography Malcolm X related that particular incident and in retrospect said that he regretted being short with her, that his negative reaction to her was in fact part of the problem, and that in hindsight she was in fact sincere. You should actually read Malcolm's autobiography. He actually says that he wished he could've had that back and told that girl that she could help by spreading her own views within her own community. Spike Lee failed to put that into the movie however.

At that point in his life, Malcolm was a blind follower of Elijah Muhammad and seperatism between the races was what they sought after.

In his biography Malcolm X related that particular incident and in retrospect said that he regretted being short with her, that his negative reaction to her was in fact part of the problem, and that in hindsight she was in fact sincere. Given his speeches and media image at the time it was brave of her to approach him - only sincerety could have driven her to that. Peace.

You should actually read Malcolm's autobiography. He actually says that he wished he could've had that back and told that girl that she could help by spreading her own views within her own community. Spike Lee failed to put that into the movie however.
