@archicadmonkey this is a great toturial, straight to the point. i have a question unrelated, how do i get archiCad ''forever'' like an application and not having to renew the trail or anything like that, just installed and use it without any complex settings. i cant just renew the trail like anyone would do online, since i aint got a creditcard being a 17 year old, is there any hardcopy version i can buy off a shop? id be pleased if you could help me out. thanks a lot.
sorry..this might be a stupid question ? is there a command in archicad similar to "ortho" in autocad, which you can draw only horizontal & vertical walls ? can anybody help !!!
i'm considering to change program because i got tired from working on autocad, so would you reccomend revit, autocad architecture or archicad? which one is more user friendly? i tried revit and it was good until i wanted to apply a brick pattern to my elevations because it is IMPOSSIBLE to find it... please answer
- first of all i'm not able to change the walls color. i don't no why but the walls stays white with black lines, same for the roof white with red lines
-Second problem is that i can't select the wall to split. Either it select the slab or it select the roof.
For some reason the 3D image looks warped as if the computer is trying to make it look larger, it throws it out of proportion, but everything's still there- it's as if it's trying to make it look hyper 3D- in a manner of speaking. I'm more the animation type myself, a program I used to use called Bryce did a similar thing, but you could toggle it with the settings World, Camera and Object Space- the latter made it look normal. If that made any sense could you tell me how to fix this in ArchiCAD?
Hi... I'm new to archicad... I've got a class for it this semster, but my teacher wasn't able to help me so.. I've been trying to find an answer over the web...
So I've been having trouble with the walls... I try to make a single wall but as soon as I click to make it, it start to draw a full square and not a single line (wall)... so I don't now if you could tell me how can I fix it, because I also happen to not have the tool bar that you show at the beginning of the video....thnx
I dont understand why it change the grood floor too when i modifiy the story 1 ... i click on show as trace reference ... can you help me please ? thanks !
@elisoue you may have increased the wall size higher than the general floor height, which means you're actually editing the wall underneath. could you send a couple of screenshots of your problem to archicadmonkey [at] gmail . com?
@Shlop2011 hi, could you send a couple of screenshots of your problem to archicadmonkey [at] gmail . com? the magic wand will adapt according to which tool you're using, where and on what you're using it. anything specific?
I watched one part (time: 2.00-2.06), but i don't understand.. I can't type that "distance" thingie.. If i make the wall when i try pressing something else i make other wall.. ;( DAMN..

@TheZinderella hi, i think you'll want to try using the Solid Element Operations from the Design menu, with a roof (on a hidden layer) subtracting from the wall structure . the roof as the operator, wall as target, and "subtract with upward extrusion"
@TheZinderella I've just started using archicad 14..to answer ur question in the wall settings windows you could choose a slanted, trapezium looking wall, or straight . thats in archicad 14 i don't know about earlier versions
@xgmpx if you're asking about the stretch Wall command you must have a wall selected and the pet palette will appear (see 6:25 in the video), but if it's the general Stretch tool you're looking for go to Edit > Reshape > Stretch
This has been the most helpful of all tutorial videos I have seen on Archicad. I am not ashamed to say I am 52 just starting on Archicad and I knew I would find someone who could explain at a reasonable speed and in a logical manner. Thank you I throughly enjoy it and look forward to becoming proficient! A. H.
@vetonbeqiri i'm using Screenflow for mac, it's very simple yet powerful. For windows there's also Camtasia, which recently brought out a mac version, but i find Screenflow much more intuitive
@archicadmonkey Thank you. i was able to find that out just after i posted my question. i don't know, but the last version of archicad i used was archicad 9 and on a PC. this version on a mac seems so much simpler. I've use Chief Architect for a while. however, i feel pretty good about using ArchiCAD and i just started today.
@himynameischucky yup, I've used Chief Architect in the past, good for simplistic stuff, but not that advanced really. Yeah you'll love Archicad, especially the difference between v.9 and v.13 (and soon Archicad v.14) , the improvements are phenomenal. enjoy!
