Great points! We don't own our kids anymore. The state does. You aren't allowed to discipline your kids. I took my toddler in for his shots, and the first thing the doctor did was pull hs pants diown and check his rear end out for any marks. Anyone can call CPS on anyone and make false accusations, and CPS has to respond to every call, whether true or not. I even heard that the caseworkers get monetary rewards for putting adopting kids out.  This shit's got to stop.

Are you drinking when you spank your kid(s)? Despite not being a parent, common sense tells me that's probably NOT the best time to use physical discipline, ESPECIALLY on a 3 year-old.

(Gosh, that's something I learned as a kid when I watched 'The Shining'. I didn't need to have a kid to learn that.)

I also would schedule my 'drinking time' so that the other parent, or another trusted sober adult, is available to take care of the kid(s).

I don't think you HEARD what they were saying...your mind constructed that 'bad parent' part.

You CAN spank your children...there is no state I'm aware of that has a law prohibiting corporal punishment by parents.

What IS prohibited, however, is spanking children so hard that it leaves a cut, a welt, a bruise.

I'm neither defending nor attacking any side...either CPS or defendant parents.

I simply mentioned what some of the criteria for abuse is, as set by law.

Remember- hundreds of thousands of children reach their 18th birthday in America EVERY year without ever having CPS take them away from their parents, or even so much as getting a knock on their front door from a CPS worker- that doesn't mean their parents were 'good' parents as opposed to 'bad' parents.

Oh, and yes, I WAS a CPS worker years ago, and I'll have you know that I successfully reunited most of the parents on my caseload with their kids, and ALWAYS aimed for that.

The only ones that didn't reunify with their kids were still putting needles in their arms up until the day of the review hearing, or the ones that didn't bother showing up.

In fact, CPS trained us that reunification is, in the majority of cases, THE BEST OUTCOME for the children.

So chew on that for a while.

Yes, the county's shelter for recently-removed children was horrible. I always hurried to find them suitable placements in a foster home or with a relative.

Also, I'd say 80% of the foster families I placed kids with were overwhelmingly positive and nurturing folks.

The other 20% that were 'other-than-positive' environments for the kids were usually relatives that agreed to be caregivers.

no but court documents saying "unfit parent" "unsafe parent" "poor parental skills" will be plastered all over them. then in foster care the CPS and the foster care tell your kids you dont love them and that you are a bad parent. all the while they will molest, drug, and starve your child. and the CPS laughs all the way tot he back with 30,000 to 150,000 per child (depending on child's "special needs")

I'm sorry, but that's outrageous. I don't know where your getting your information: that workers tell kids their parents don't love them or that they're bad. From my now completely neutral point of view, since I no longer do that work, I can honeslty and truthfully say that from what I saw with my own eyes, the exact OPPOSITE of that was true. Everything from CPS's side was being done with the KIDS' feelings and well-being in mind....that was priority #1.

Really? Because in California, the minimum requirement is a Bachelor's (not an Associate's) Degree in a Behavioral Scence. You also have to test for the position and score in the top ten or so to even get an interview. In California anyway, it's a rather competitive process.

My child was removed by CPS, but after working a plan of service and following along with that the state wanted as a show of my ability to protect my child, they placed him back with him. I do not agree with spanking, I think there are better ways to discipline children, but I definitely do NOT agree with the government thinking that they know better than parents how to raise children. Just as you pointed out, most CPS social workers have no children of their own, yet they think they can determine who is an unfit parent. They do nothing to help parents who have difficulties, but just try to put the kids into foster care, or give them to wealthy families for adoption.
