I just watched this episode about an hour ago (have been watching episodes of "Prisoner" on DVD for about a year now, starting at the beginning, and just reached this point).
Sad and so tragic about Myra!......but what was totally preposterous was about 20 minutes later IN THIS SAME EPISODE, Dennis Cruikshank walks up to Daphne in the corridor and asks: "Why the long face?" Huh????
BEA will always be the original and best TOP DOG of them all!! The others were good but what happend to Maxine jiggarypokery? and yea myra's death was a shock!
Two of the deaths that REALLY got to me in the whole of Prisoner is Maxine Daniels death, and Myra Desmonds death, although i read Myra was shot dead, her death still really shocked me. I know its only a t.v programme but i was actually panicking at the time and was almost shouting for somebody to do something to save Myra! lol , proper tension builder. To me Prisoner is brilliant & unique. NO t.v programme has ever or will ever grip me as part of an audience the way prisoner did.
It really pissed me off when people say that Rita Connors was better than Myra. That to me is a crock of shit. There is not way Rita was better than Myra. Desmond is my favorite top dog!
It is such a powerful episode, but oh God, how scary and nerve wracking, and a sad ending for Myra in Prisoner and her mates watching her being shot dead. I could almost feel the tension as if it were really a terrorist break-in in a prison, and also how the actors were really feeling in 1985. Dazza xo :)
I got to say it I did not like the way Myra was take out of prisoner it got to me to I did not like it she was the best top dog next to B
