  • Hi Jen! I felt so bad for you watching this video. I too have IBS and I went to a doctor and found out the I should not have wheat. I also take Digest More Ultra and it has been a life saver. It's not cheap but it does work. Also drinking decaf tea helps more than just plan water. Good luck to you and I hope this helps!

  • I really like the zip-up hoodie you have on here!! Where did you get it and what brand is it?

  • Maybe your having IBS cause of your reg diet. You should try switching it up a little. You could be lacking something or having too much of something.

  • @NadiaAmusic I have switched up my diet a lot over the years, trying all the usual things - gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, etc. I'm doing much better now and all I did was an psyllium to my daily supplement regimen.

  • Have you ever read the book Naturally Thin by Bethenny Frankel? Highly recommend.

  • @ablondee I'll look it up, thanks for the tip.

  • Hi Jen... your vlog has inspired me to vlog or blog more about ME and not necessarily what I do or buy. And I'd rather msg you regarding similar life changing physical limitations and issues. definitely hang in there... and if you want to splurge, then jus be sure to have the next day off to recover. trust me.. I definitely "get" you. hugs

  • @rumpshakeit aww thanks :) Did you message me? It might take me some time to response but I will get there!

  • I sent you a message today. I'm going to say metamucil again...it will not cause excess gas/bloating. you are right about the exercise and stress. but, i have to say that the drug paxil changed my life. you may not be interested in taking medication, but i have to say i was scarred too, but it worked for me.

  • Tips on controlling IBS

•Eat a varied healthy diet and avoid foods high in fat.

    •Drink plenty of water.

•Try eating 6 small meals a day rather than 3 larger ones.

•Learn new and better ways to deal with your stress.

•Avoid using laxatives. They may weaken your intestines and cause you to be dependent on them.

  • @NeNasMakeup85 I've been taking a laxative (MiraLax) at my gastroenterologists suggestion, but decided to not take it and am doing fine without it. Thanks for the info!

  • I've had IBS and i say had because since I got off the drugs for it and started using fiber supplements I don't suffer with it anymore and I don't use that word lightly. I eat anything I want now and don't have to worry about where the bathrooms are where ever i go.

  • I can relate to your videos so much! I just discovered your channel today and am so excited to find someone I can relate to so much! I also just got diagnosed with ibs and can relate to how frustrating it is! I'm glad to finally have answers because it felt like I always had a "stomach ache" (much worse than an actual stomach ache) but at the same time it's annoying that something so trivial can cause so much distress in my life! I look forward to finding out what helps you manage and get your

  • @Birdie1903 I have done a gluten free diet trial several times now with no success, so I don't think that'd the issue. I'm working on figuring out my food combining stuff...it's all trial and error, you know? Everyone's a little bit different...

  • I can relate because after I got salmonella on a trip to the Maldives years ago, I was still suffering so a couple of lab tests later, I was diagnosed with the same. Unfortunately there is no cure but just watch your diet. Avoid MSG (common in take-outs like Chinese, Thai and Indian food - and bugles), dairy and gluten. I found out that drinking hot green tea at night will help you a lot especially when you feel bloated and it somehow improves the symptoms. It's worth a try.

  • @rprmlr772 Thanks for the tips. I tried gluten and dairy free diets to no avail. I'm not a big fan of Chinese/Thai, or Indian food anyway.

  • does IBS bloating has something to do with gluten?

  • I can relate to what you are going through. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease last year and I have to deal with GI pain depending on what I eat. It is so difficult not to be able to eat things that I used to be able to eat with no problem. But, keeping a food journal helps me understand what works for me. Also, internet groups and forum pages for GI conditions are a great way to learn how others deal with the same issues. I hope you continue to figure out what works for you.

  • Avoid food with MSG in it. I found that gives really painful bloating.

  • Best of luck, beauty!!

  • I sympathized with your last vid because I suffer from depression and anxiety. I sympathize with this one because I also suffer from IBS. It's awful - a real pain in the you know what (pun intended.) I've been hospitalized a couple of times when the IBS has made me violently ill. Huge hugs to you. Please know that you aren't alone. (((hugs)))

  • @kjs1021 Awww, *hugs* back! :o)

  • Jen, let me tell you what is a miracle cure.I mean miraculous!!! Just don't eat sour cream, Ice cream, whipped cream, cake frosting, mayonnaise, or hot cheese or hot breads. Diets, enzymes, supplements, and most meds don't ever work. I have several sisters, all have IBS>Each time one of them gets sick it is associated with anxiety and I ask them what if they ate Mexican food with sour cream, or whipped cream on pumpkin pie, or a burger or sandwich with mayo>Resounding yes every time! &No Oreos!

  • @VintageChrystelle It's interesting how people can the same "problem" (in this case IBS), but have different food issues. I can handle ice cream and bread just fine. Cheese in large quantities is no good, but small amounts of may and cheese stuff I do ok with. Thanks for the suggestions, though. I'm learning more every day!

  • also just wanted to add that Metamucil is a great way to get some water in too! I take 6 capsules with a 500mL glass of water. You do need water or the fibre will just cause more pain. And extra fibre is just good for us anyway. Try it!

  • @Nikkers8 I'm going to give Metamucil a try, thanks.

  • @Nikkers8 Surprisingly I've never had a problem with dairy, and I have tried dairy free diets several times over the past few years with no success. I guess it's a good thing, because I'm a bit of an ice cream addict. :p I really only eat it when we go to Utah, though...

  • I love your statement, saying that you had 28 years to eat all those things and its time to eat clean! Really motivational! I need to work on eating healthy.

  • hey Jen! (UMass Katie... love your channels!) I have the same issues and I find they totally coincide with how anxious I'm feeling. Sometimes I've found that diuretics work, other times bean-o (depending if its water bloating or... gas). Drink water water water! Here's a tip-- it's much easier to drink warm water or room temp water. It goes down faster!

  • @85kage Katie from choir? Nice to hear from you! Hope all is well. I know about the water. I can't stand cold water and hate ice cubes with a passion. I just need to remind myself to KEEP DRINKING or else I forget :p

  • Hang in there Jen. For the last 4 years I've been in sort of the same boat. My problem is getting diarrhea just about every time I eat. It was so bad at one point that I wouldn't eat away from home because of fear of not making it to the bathroom. I still have to make sure I'm near a bathroom soon after I eat, which is not fun. We all have our issues and just have to deal with them the best we know how and focus on the positive things in our life :) I appreciate you sharing your story.

  • @southerncouponista I hope you're feeling better and finding successful ways to cope with your condition.

  • Check your gmail. I wrote you a whole thing about my experiences with IBS and how I cured myself. I was EXACTLY like you. You're going to get better, I promise. There is a magic fix and it's called Psyllium Fibre. :-)

  • @wahini101 I got the email. I'm about to write back...

  • I guess you are already taking a probiotic like Align? I think this helps some people. I was interested to hear you talk more about the Tone It Up plan. I am the person who emailed you about it. Take care of yourself.

  • @vineyarddog2 I do take a probiotic, and I've changed brands over the years. Right now I'm taking Florastor. It's interesting how even simple things like different kinds of probiotics affect people differently, isn't it?

  • I suspected u have IBS when you kept talking about the digestive pills u take. I used to have IBS extremely bad. And the good news is I'm now cured. All it takes is fiber. Specially the kind you get in Bran Buds or Metamucil. You need to sprinkle some brand buds on your cereal in the morning(it too hard to eat a full bowl of brandbuds) and/or you NEED a tea spoon of Metamucil every morning in a glass of half OJ and half water. OK Im running out of space. Im going to email your gmail.

  • @wahini101 I'm going to give Metamucil a try...

  • I have heard of people using a timer to track when to drink water, I know there are iPhone apps to track your water consumption.

  • @marciaeferguson That's a good idea! I need an alarm :p

  • I am going to send you a private message...:)

  • I felt really sad watching this video :( You're so sweet and it's such a shame you have to go through this stuff on a daily basis. I never even realised until this video.

  • @Laurajay100 Please don't be sad! I am really a very happy person. It's the hardships in life that really make you appreciate all of the good stuff, you know? I'm finding ways to manage...hoping every day it gets a bit better :)

  • i was diagnosed with idiopathic gastroparesis 9 years ago... I feel for you. Look after yourself!
