Franco Sciannameo, a violinist who collaborated with Scelsi, wrote in a paper on "Musical Times" that this piece was transcribed by the composer Vieri Tosatti from an improvisation by Scelsi. Scelsi used to record harmonic and melodic sequences with a small electronic device. Some of his works for strings (including Anagamin) were "processed" by Tosatti and other people starting from the material recorded by the Maestro.
@PADSEnsemble That's not true. Tosatti wrote the improvisations and Scelsi worked with this transcriptions creating the music. Tosatti wanted to get advantage from a death men.
@cegede11 -- Well, this is exactly what we wrote. Tosatti transcribed Scelsi's improvisations.
The only thing that we didn't mention (and that's highly presumable and plausible) is that Scelsi in person rearranged and worked on the transcribed material in order to "create" the piece. We don't want to fan the flames of such a complicated controversy concerning people claiming their rights on Scelsi's work and taking advantage of him. Cela va sans dire, we love this incredible piece.
my Dad used to scare the crap out of me playing Penderecki as a small child. It still pretty scary, but I love this Scelsi peice. Thanks for a great clip too. :) :)
@carsinjars LOL! So did mine, also Holst: The Planets, he would play that and tell us these terrible stories about aliens etc...... we were like ten years old lol, scared to death! TURN THE LIGHTS ON!
This is eerie! I can imagine this being used in a horror movie!
