Hello, nice vid. I find many similarities to slavic gods. Thor/Thundr/Donner is called Perun which means "Striker" and his weapon is called "Molnija" which litterarly means "lightening". The sign of lightening is the same, like indian swastika. But our Jötun is called Jedun (lit. Eater) and he is one of 4 giants who helpes Perun to get her wife from Waterking. Our Balder is Svarog blacksmith who was killed and his son is the Sun who will revenge his fathers dead. Greetings!
@G6600 That's very interresting. I didn't know that, thank's for sharing! Can you tell me more about where these god's are/were worshipped? Greetings to you.
Nobody should doubt about the nobility and quality of pagan cultures. Now, it is proved their artifacts, traditions and writings were systematically destroyed by Roman churches.
Now,left only very little details which escaped Roman church systemic destruction.
Europeans are one of the best brainwashed people more systematically about their ancient roots!!
Still, many Westerners are living in fools paradise!

wine for food and drink...hmmmm... wine is the beverage of southern Europe...mead or beer for northern Europe...so was Odin a southern European god? or was this account possibly written by the church which used wine as the deity associated drink.?
@lITheEmissarylI Snorri Sturluson was a christian so it is possible he added that fact to associate Odin with deity. But earlier in the book he also states that the Æsir were originally just normal heroes from Turkey that emigrated north and became gods there because of their legandary doings. I don't know if they drink much Wine in Turkey, but if so Odin could have brought that custom with him when he moved up north. Thanks for asking an interresting question ^^.
@Einarjonsson77 Allah, yuou mean the pagan moon god who married the sun and the stars were his sons, hence that's whjy muslims today use a pagan moon symbol on their flags? ;D
Thor has low self-esteem? So we can even psychoanalyse mythological figures with anti-masculine sentiments? You are an idiot who obviously has another agenda.
Paganism for lack of a better Word, does feel far more right than the testaments to me for the fact of the harmony with nature. Both the natural and human aspects.I know my history well enough to know the damage man has done in the name of God.I'm not a atheist,I guess I've just always had one in front of my face more than another.I hate bashing anyones beliefs because I know there are good people of all walks.unless there in with The Enemey
Don't get it...Is Paganism a bad religion? Many Christian say so stating that it worships Pan the sex god.But then when I researched i saw that all gods from ancient mythologies are related.I've always admired the gods in these mythologies and I'm a Christian. Can someone tell me what is the truth.Too confusing to understand...
@lion95805 Don't presume that I believe in anything. Coincidences happen. Omnipotent doesn't and cannot exist, Thor MIGHT be real, but "Lord" definitely isn't.
@lion95805 Because omnipotence is a contradiction - If God is all things he is also logic, and he cannot be logic if he is illogical so he cancels himself out and cannot be either and therefor is nothing. Think back to when you were a child. Perhaps you believed in Santa Claus - Notice there was always some excuse, some reason for every little thing that made him illogical. God is big people Santa. There is always some, reason, some excuse and usually not even a good one.
@lion95805 Ok, here's just one example of why I'd never follow that desert death-cult. When the world was flooded "because all were wicked"... How many babies do you think there were? Innocent children that had yet to do a single wrong thing in their lives. That's just one example of the "lord"'s infinite "mercy". You need more, let me know, but that should be more than enough to make you stop and think.
I think i have an explanation but i think it'll sound like i'm a religous freak, and i'm not actually.
But, yeah, that did made me think, and i find many other questionable paragraphs in the bible. But all that is confusing, so i rarely read the book. and i understand and respect your opinion.
@lion95805 Look man. I don't stand to gain here. This is why I don't bother trying to argue this with my great uncle anymore. Even if I prove him wrong, so what? I took away an old man's security blanket, nice. I don't win. But you're probably young still, you can still live your life to it's fullest the way you want to live it without having to worry about eternal torment for pissing off some old man in the sky. You should be able to think what ever you want without having to worry.
@lion95805 Yeesh kid. I'd already been an atheist for seven years by the time I was your age. Yeah, you believe whatever you want as long as you understand that you're scientifically and philosophically ham-stringed. The bible has all the answers. Know who was around before the bible? Socrates. And I quote "As for me, all I know is that I know nothing." - Think about that for a moment.
yeah, look at God, Zeus and Odin (as supreme god), look at Christ, Perseus and Thor(as son of supreme god).. of course there are similarities, you're making it sound like "any two characters who are roughly similar must be the same".. there are four possibilities in this situation, one of us are wrong, they're the same God(s), there's a whole species of gods like they are a species of humans, or both of us are wrong.
I think it is safe to assume that Thor was considered very intelligent and confident by his ancient friends. The devotes of Odin seem to have tried to play down his abilities, hence the variation in the myths. The tale of Alvis the dwarf has been mentioned - he also shows his wisdom in the tale of Starkard where he takes on Odin.
Frøya is not the godess of war, so that is clear.. Tor and Odin is the gods of war, in addition, Odin is the god of wisdom and Tor is the god of the elements and vegetation.
You are Atheist? Or you just dont like northern gods? Still it isnt much wise, I mean that thing what oyu have done.. this video... Every land have its own traditions and gods, I cant understand why you dont honor your land :D.
I'm not a religious person as such, but if I could be, I'd be a follower of Asatru. I think Thor, whether real or not, is a worthy deity and role-model. A tactiturn, intelligent, tireless, and formidable protector of Humanity. The champion of the common man. A scourge of evil. When people refer to him as "a god of thunder", that does him hardly any justice at all. Compared to the Judeo-Christian God, Thor is far more deserving of praise and respect, in my humble opinion.
If you are going to make "educational" videos, please read up on your subject... and be objective instead of putting in your own opinion, im talking of the Thor sequence mostly here, cuz this just kinda offended me cuz im from Denmark and believe in this. And you put it as if what you are saying are facts. I don't go around and belittle other ppls faith. So focus man!
Pretty inaccurate what was said about Thor being stupid. Gods are NOT stupid. And besides, Thor tricked a Dwarf into solving riddle after riddle until dawn, where the creature turned to stone. Thor manipulated him so his daughter would not have to marry the Dwarf.
I personally prefer it when people speak, here on youtube because I comprehend things better but.. I would not have been able to hear the awesome music so... Im torn. :)

The Jotunn are the giants, they stand for the destructive side of nature. The gods have a mixed relation to them, they fight against the bad Jotunn, but with some of them they have friendship (like Loki) or marriage them (like Skadi)

Several of your translations are incorrect, some or your statments are not accurate. For example Thor can still wield his hammer Mjollnir without his gloves, just not accurate, it is in the eddas. Also Freya gets half the slain in battle if she rides or not, also in the Yngling Sagas
Thanks for telling me, if I find the need to fix the video I'll keep your words in mind. I'm not an expert in Norse mythology, I just felt like making a video after reeding for a test in it. I wasn't planning on translating any of the names at first so I don't care whether they are incorrect or not. But thanks.
i have to agree, you make the gods seem like children especialy thor man Good job i see where your coming from but ... seriously THOR HAS LOW SELF ESTEEM???
In the story of Thor against Útgarða-Loki he really does have low self esteem. Útgarða-Loki tricks him into believing that he is crap and cant even beet a grandma in a fight. He wouldn't believe that unless he had low self esteem. There are other examples to, I recommend that you reed the stories of Thor in Snorra-Edda to see it.
So Odin doesn't eat but only drinks wine? I didn't know that but why does it say in Havamal all of those things about not drinking too much? Hmm. Odin confuses me! :)

well, in my research, i think there is more than one God.. The Lord said himself "don't worship OTHER GODS" and also "don't worship GOD MOLECH"..
it shows there are other Gods, but we should worship The Lord.
