  • Hi, Teresa. Wonderful work again. I just wondering whether the trinity stitch and the seed stitch are only for women's scarf. I just want to make a scarf for my hubby. Thanks

  • Comment removed

  • Your instructions and demonstrations are so very well done! Thank you! I have been crocheting since I was about 8 (a very long time) and I have never seen anyone hold their yarn the way you do, I will have to try it.

Thank you for sharing your talent...you do beautiful work.

  • @IndianaBlossoms I appreciate your generous words, thank you

  • That was a great video. Explained it very thoroughly and showed more than just one row of the stitch. Thanks for the great instructions!!!

  • @azurelovescarl I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • Your videos are so straight forward. Easy to understand.

  • @babs2722 Thank you, I appreciate your comment! :)

  • Thanks Teresa. Very good tutorial

  • @TheRealtoronduty Thank you!

  • Thank you for this video! The written instructions I was using totally confused me and made me think a really sadistic person invented this stitch. After watching your video I see how simple it is and can now rip the hated square apart and HAPPILY redo it.

  • Thank you for your tutorial. This is the best match to what I am working on and what the creator of a dishcloth that I want to learn is stating.

  • @kolaney08 You are welcome!

  • Hi! First off I LOVE your videos. You taught me how to crochet! I've been crocheting for a little over a year now and am addicted. I've been watching a lot of your videos on stitches recently and was wanting to use some of them for a project I want to start, but I have a few questions.

I don't understand the multiple? I need to know how many to chain... can you help me with that?

Also, would most of these, if not all, work by crocheting in the round?

Thanks, so much. Love your videos!

    LA

  • @TheElleAy I can tell you an estimate but there is a great chance that you will end up with extra chains and it will not be exact. I recommend that you chain to your width and then sew in any extra chains.

  • MY NAME IS TRINITY :D

  • How on earth do I increse and do corners with this lovely trinity stich. I am making a poncho-ok attempting a poncho. Please help!

  • ...luv your videos. but, would you consider showing the END PRODUCT before doing the demonstration so that we know what we're working toward?

  • @nBloom7 that is something that I do now. Thank you for the feedback

  • this video was sponsored by pull the yarn threw

  • @sad2898 Now that is funny!!

  • @sad2898 hahaaa!

  • this is like the star stiching

  • @Shemaine26 There are some similarities but it is different than the star stitch.

  • i hold my thread this way too. i think the more practiced u are u find whats comfortable and it becomes habit. i have seen variations of this stitch so i practice. i usually mke afghans and give them away. the fun to me is making them. ppl get overwhelmed but i am just happy to do it. thanks for the stitch and all your videos. helps me.

  • my name is Trinity XD

  • Help I keep losing stitches. I don't know why. I'm having trouble with the end of the row and the beginning of the next row.

  • @mzunnurain Counting will help keep the edges even on each row.

  • @tjw1963 Thank you. I read the instructions, VERY CAREFULLY, and followed them one by one and finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Got it straight now, literally!

  • ok im lost when it comes to the end of the row, I usually get lost there with any stitch...so at the end after i have four on my hook and loop and pull through all four then ch 1 do I go through the same one im working in to sc, ch1, then turn? please tell me you understand because I don't know how else to explain it...Im a beginner lol....do u have an IM yahoo, or aol...I could really use your help.

  • @Luvlydrk1 I have written and symbol instructions posted on my crochet blog. Please visit my blog to view the symbol instructions. The link is in the video details below the video. Hopefully that will help you see where the stitches are supposed to be placed.

  • hi Teresa, I can't get myself to understand the multiples of stitches in crocheting....

The multiple for this is 2 plus 1.....so wouldn't that make it an odd number of chains? but you made a chain of 12 for this...ahh please help me.

Would a chain of 144 work for this stitch? Thanks in advance.

  • @erratickitty The plus 1 is done only 1 time. That is the step up for the first stitch or stitches. It will take 2 chains for each stitch that you want to make. You will chain 144+1 for 145. Don't worry if you end up with a bit of extra chain, you can sew it in later. Everyone has a different interpretation of how they count chains, so many times the chain count will be off.

  • hi i was wondering if you know how to make an ear flap hat..and if you do can you put a video on how to do so..thanks

  • Can you tell me what items can the trinity stitch be used to make. I think afgan and scarf. Your input will be appreciated. THNX

  • This is sort of similar to star stich, isn't it? I want to try it. I think it will look cute for a girl's scarf. Thanks Teresa.

  • @emelydr There are some similarities.

  • is this stitch a yarn pig?

  • Not really.

  • This is exactly what I needed! The book I'm using just didn't make sense. I don't know how people taught themselves how to crochet before YouTube really made them feel like they actually were teaching themselves!

  • thanks so much really helpful

  • You are a legend Teresa, thanks so much! :-)

    Sarah

  • You are welcome.

  • Will this make a 6 inch sqaure? Iwanted to try and make an afghan with differant colors and join them together, this looks like a good solid square thank you ,

  • Yes, you can make this in to a 6 inch square or any size square.

  • Thank You for getting back to me so fast, you are a wonderful teacher and person thanks for being there for all our questions I thought this pattern might make a good patch work afghan with different size squares put together for a xmas present next year.thank you,

  • i was just wondering what this stitch would really look best on....would it look good on an afghan? thanks for making it so easy to learn!

  • You can use it anywhere. An afghan, hat, sweater, scarf

  • I love to crochet because there are some really creative things you can do with it, but I tend to pull it too tight, and I have to start over.

  • You are really good thank you for learning me how to crochet

  • I appreciate the comment, Thank you.

  • Thanks for sharing this wonderful and easy stitch! Thanks also for doing this work, it must take lots of time to make this videos.

    Many Greetings from Italy

  • Thank you, I appreciate the comment. :) Happy crocheting.

  • Thank you for this video, now that I've seen Trinity being done I can do it myself now, thanks again.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Teresa... this is a lovely stitch that I don't remember ever seeing in the last 30+ years... thanks again for sharing you talents... B

  • You are welcome. I have a great time taking the mystery out of some of these crochet techniques. I appreciate the comment. :)

  • I hold my thread the same way. I think you can crochet a lot faster this way.

  • I have always thought that too. That was part of the reason that I did not like holding my finger out. I experimented with both ways.

  • about how many stitches are out there????

  • Hundreds to thousands.

  • Good video!!

However, I'm still wondering how in the WORLD you manage to crochet holding the yarn that way. My hands get tired just watching you! LOL. I dont' think I've ever seen anybody hold their yarn like that, and I've been crocheting for 30 years. :)

  • Thank you very much.. I have been crocheting this way for 27 years. I did not like holding my yarn how the books recommended with the finger all pointed out, so I created my own way. For years I thought I was doing it all wrong because I did not do it like the book. I threw out "THE BOOK" mentality years ago.

My dad used to laugh when I crocheted because I was going so fast that he could not see the yarn and stitches.

  • I also hold my yarn the way you do. I have tried to retrain my left hand so I could knit continental, but I think I am hopeless..too many years doing it the way you do..my Mom also did it "our" way, so I am sure that is why I do it. My index finger gets so tired pointing up like they do. Enjoy your videos so much. I did a few for a little knitting machine, so I know how hard it is to work around the tripod, so thanks for doing them. You inspire even an old yarn addict like me!

  • I am hearing that there are a lot of people that crochet like us. The traditional way of teaching is very uncomfortable. The other thing that I find unfortunate is that the publishers of books and magazines only show one way when there are so many. I tell people that if they are able to make a recognizable end piece with a crochet hook, they are crocheting. It does not matter how they choose to hold the hook and yarn.

  • It was only in the last month that I actually heard of another way of crochet... I crochet as you do - I was told it was the pencil hold & that there is a knife hold or pistol hold... interesting. I agree so long as the end product comes out the same what does it matter how you do it. My Aunt taught me to crochet - she had fingers missing & one straight middle finger on her left hand just what she needed for holding the yarn she used to tell me... so you do what you are capable of... thanks... B

  • I also crochet the same way,( 26 years ) i tryed the other way and its sure hard on wrists

  • I love this stitch, so easy.

  • err..hello! i know, i know you are going to say "AGAIN YOU!!!!" but please just tell me how to increase and when to increase for a hat plz plz

  • I have not done an increase with this stitch. If it is something that I figure out, I will share it.

  • thank you very very much....will be looking forward to learn it. mean while i will knit the hat with the trinity stitch...i know its i bit different but i need to deliver the beret thank you

  • hi finally i found a very good and easy explanation to this stitch i made a scarf for my mother but now she wants a matching hat...do i do it the same way way a simple hat would be or there have to be something different besides the stitch (can i use any video explaining the steps to make a hat? or is it different?)

  • You can use any video for a hat as a template to make the hat. There will be an amount of modifying that will be necessary for each individual pattern stitch. This one should work up pretty easy.

  • hi sorry but a have try and try to start the hat but i just cant do it, my problem is how to increase and when do i have to do it...i can follow a double crochet hat but not the trinity...i would love to do it with the trinity stitch ...can you help me to start the hat?

  • on this stitch i found it was to hard to follow and it was very frustrating to me>.>

  • Teresa has the best crocheting videos on the net. She is wonderful & I have learned tons from watching her. Thank you!

  • Thank you very much, I appreciate your comments.

  • I so enjoy your videos. I am a person who just can't read a pattern, but if you show me, I can do it. Thank you so much.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • I have enjoyed watching your videos and helpful might I add...I was wondering if you knew of a stitch or so that starts in the corner and you also have to turn your work around and start the next row. I learned that awhile back but can not remember what it was called or how to do it...

  • Would you be talking about the granny square?

  • Love this stitch!!! Beautiful. Can you make scarves with this stitch? I ask this, because that's all I can do, scarves!!!!

  • Yes, this would make a very nice scarf.

  • This looks alot like a vintage crochet pattern that I bought...but they called it a 'bean stitch'.

  • I bet it is a pretty stitch. I have not heard of the bean stitch.

  • I did this kind of but i couldn't remember the exact number by the time i got to sit down again so I did 2 loops then pulled through 3 and it made a little different pattern. Is this going to be ok as a blanket when I'm done?

  • If it is coming out even each round, and you are happy with it, then it will probably be alright.

  • Can you use this stitch for a scarf or is it more common for a blanket or something else?

  • It would be great for a blanket, hat or anything you can think of.

  • Thanks you very much for putting this and other videos on you tube. I just joined a Prayer Shawl ministry and am new to crocheting. Your videos have tutored me and as a result I have made 2 hats, 2 scarfs, and I'm on my fourth shawl. You have helped me to help others. Thank you so much!!!!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • What do you mean when you say the multiple is 2+1? I've been crocheting for a few years now, but I don't know all of the terms. Thanks alot! The video's great!

  • It takes 2 chains to complete each stitch. The +1 is what it takes to complete the first stitch. I have more written on my crochet blog about multiples. If you are interested in the link, you can send me a youtube message or e-mail me at the address posted on my main channel. I will send you the direct link to the detailed explanation.

  • thank you so so much for posting this.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • So the multiple is 2+1???

So if I were to make a chain of 40....would I add another chain to make it 41 before I start the actual trinity stitching?

  • Yes.

  • every time i need help you are always there

  • Thank you. :)

  • I just finsihed an afghan and love this stitch. going to be my next project. thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • thank u this video help my out alot

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Just wanteed to give a big thank you! I began crocheting again in February after not crocheting since I was 9! Your videos have been a huge help. I'm about 1/3 of the way through an afghan for my first yet to be born child. Thank you, thank you.

  • Thank you!!! Congratulations on the birth of your new baby. Send me a picture of your new baby when it is born.

  • Your're a wonderful instructor! Your videos are very clear and easy to follow. I've learned alot. Thanks so much, and keep em coming!!!!!

  • Thank you! :)

  • I love it. Thanks for this tip. I'll try it sometime.

  • What a cool stitch. I never knew it existed before now. Thanks!

  • Very nice ,is this the same as the diasy stitch? Thanks Knittin66

  • I know it is similar to the star stitch. If the star stitch is called the daisy stitch then, yes.

  • I just learned this stitch a few days ago. It makes a beautiful square.
