  • ass shit fiddle fuck

  • Even though this music is beautiful, OP keeps being a faggot.

  • This piece of music is pure genius. Otherworldly, no matter your beliefs. For me it evokes a kind of existential sadness, an eternity of longing for something do deep that it may be unobtainable by human beings. Please, no outraged religious replies....

  • this is for my girl Fanni

  • for anyone wanting to listen to a transcription for solo violin, listen to violinist leonid kogan, on youtube. you won't regret it.

  • shad agvor ..........! GETSE HAIASTAN ......

  • la solitudine di un astronauta nello spazio:la voglia di scendere e la sua impossibilità

  • Apart from "Aliens", Horner actually used this music in "Patriot Games" and "Clear and Present Danger".

  • @BlueCougar And don't forget "Project X," starring Matthew Broderick.

  • rest in peace Aram Khachaturian

  • Do, PLEASE, read up on Khachaturian and his times and troubles... The music becomes so much more apposite after that.

Rest your soul, Old Fellow. We love you.

  • Saber Dance is so much better :)

  • I bought a violin just so I could learn to play this piece! Multi bono! Belisima!

  • i fuvking love pikachu

  • 2001, Alien, Patriot Games - all three used this.

  • I miss you Sadi.

  • there really needs to be a repeat button on youtube.

  • Listen to opening of The Suburbs (Continued) by Arcade Fire... almost identical to the midway motif in this piece!

  • My all time favorite classical piece! Thanks for posting this version of it :)

  • I agree, this is a lovely arrangement of one of my favorite pieces. A little quicker than you'd expect, but still very beautiful.

  • This is beautiful. In Kubrick's movie,Gayane's piece is in the third segment of the film right after Floyd inspects the moon monolith, and the Discovery appears. I thought I'd never find this.

  • I miss you Sadi.

  • I Do love him I DO adore his music..........

  • The lullaby from Gayane is also wonderfully mysterious and beautiful.

  • @miss valentine.

You just don't understand the film, or Kubrick. Were there not enough explosions for you? It's art, you have to approch it like a painting and get lost in the hidden meanings. Lotr is a childs fairy tale in comparison

  • So beautiful!

When i die, i want this to be played at my funural!

  • Aram Khachaturian has just made another fan!! What a great composer.

  • that film is the worst i´ve ever seen - i know there actually IS some sense behind it, but it´s so much it just turns into a complete BORE. my opinion, not wanting to hurt anybody. if someone commented like this on lotr, i´d probably run amok :D

  • @MissValentineVintage I guess society has sent your attention span up your ass eh. I suggest you stop watching Michael Bay and reading Twilight and try to view some substantial art, such as this film.

  • Very beautiful, so many creative feelings captured in this piece.

  • Always a great pleasure to listen music composed by our genius Aram Khachaturian.

Thank you for the great share, dear Sevag, and thank also, KaimanReid for uploading.

    Happy New Year!

  • Beautiful composition

  • 2:47 reminds me of robocop

  • @dotheevolution100 yea, that part and the robocop soundtrack sound almost exactly the same...

  • @dotheevolution100 yea, when they composed the Robocop soundtrack they must have taken that piece from here. Because it was about a guy who was totaly alone, and isolated.

  • Total isolation. Utterly alone.

  • This is something that says your out 100 thousand billion miles from Earth, your home is just a star, and your here, alone. No other music has ever compared to the genius of this!

  • One of the most underrated composers in the history.

  • @ReaIly he became my most favorite composer of all times. and i am czech...........i come from a country full of classic music megastars................

  • @janab71 Well his roots go back to my country :P His music is beautiful and enjoyable.

  • @ReaIly because his music can not be rated yet, it's beyond our time still.

  • Anyone know where I can get a score of this piece?

  • @mikeppal instrumentation, beginning is cello, then 1st and 2nd violins, add viola and harp, contrabass and one or two notes on the Timpani.

  • STANLEY KUBRICK IS GREAT

  • @CALLAMAYMARK this is Aram Khachaturyan, not Kubrik.

  • @arshamatonyan yes yes this is very much from The Great 'aRAM kHACHATURIAN ' ONLY...NEVER NEVER FROM ANY BODY ELSE FROM THE TINE WHOLE WORLD..PLEASE BELIEVE....MY REGARDS TO EVERY ONE IN THIS WORLD....jzpatelut......

  • He looks like the land lord in spiderman... ive been watching too much tv?

  • Stanley Kubrick used this piece so brilliantly that I cannot separate the "space" feeling from it.

  • Have you heard the Adagio from Spartacus? Unbelievably beautiful! I love that composer. Thanks.

  • Spooky shit... really sets the scene that they are SO alone in space.

  • If I was making a soundtrack to kill myself to, I'd have Gloomy Sunday and this as the first two tunes

  • floating in eternity... All for Humanity..

  • hes a genius :)

  • Today we wrote about his biography our my music class.

  • yea this is used in aliens too...and why not, it certainly describs the loneliness of space

  • Aram Khachaturian was born on the same day (June 6th) as another well known (Posiibly the most famous Armenian) Armenian, Kirk Kerkorian.

  • why was the 2001 space sequence video on youtube removed ?

sucks, that was my favorite scene of all time.

at least we still got this

  • @fredericg54 I FEEL SO SORRY FOR THAT MY DEAR..BECAUSE I TOO LIKE THAT 2001 SPACE SEQUENCE VIDEO.....THANKS ...jzpatelut......

  • @jzpatelut heh, thx, lol :), I sent a message to Bomarzzo, the user who posted that vid, and apparently will post the same one soon enough so yey :)

  • Compare with main title of Cameron's Aliens. Composer James Horner.

  • Horner rips a lot from this piece, but I really don't care, his work is awesome.

  • dumb comment. beauty comes from certainty it'll end. go listen techno, THAT never ends.

  • you seems very interesting person for music...thanks..jzpatel..mumbai...india..

  • That kind of intensity is insane. I can not feel my heart in my chest. My heart is in my ears!!!!!!

  • This was from alien, Firmingitup. It's space music, for Cameron or Kubrick. What other song has ever captured the emotion of being alone?

  • @spooky29 I believe this is from "2001" (Kubrick) ... and I agree ... hard to listen and not feel isolated and alone.

  • @spooky29

    Ravel's piano concerto movement 2

    youtube.com/watch?v=ftJ-gJ-l5HQ

  • @spooky29 Pirate Ships by Judith Collins, and it sounds like a mother comforting an only child.

  • I love this version - which recording is this?

    Thanks for posting!

  • THIS ONE IS adagio theme of gayane's by ARAM KACHATURIAN..........jzpatel.....

  • is really appealing?.....jzpatel....

  • Khachaturian was the last in the great tradition of Russian composers.

(Yes, I know he was Armenian, nevertheless... )

  • I just did a search for this piece after reading an article on James Horner and how he often lifts melodies from other composers' music, and the fact that his theme from "Aliens" was very similar to this piece, and wow, it is almost the same song!

  • Agreed, though I do love his arrangement.

  • haha i just thought the aliens director was doing a really lame tribute to 2001 all this time

  • [ridley scott] lame in comparison to 2001... and he did do bladerunner.

  • yea 2001:aso >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>bladerunner

  • @firmingitup It IS this piece. Horner is a serial plagierist. He lifted almost the entire score to Aliens. Listen for much of Holst as well.

  • @firmingitup Well, damn. I came here because I was listening to the soundtrack from A Beautiful Mind and it sounded identical. Compare this video at 0:49 with "Alicia Discover's Nash's Dark World" 2:49. Plagiarism much?

  • Who knew what lay beyond (at 3:30) the great music used in "2001"? Entrancing... to say the least

  • Beautiful! Not heard this wonderful music for years! One of the lesser known pieces from 2001 score, but a different version.

I don't know how i arrived here, but thank you for posting!
