  • I was there that night -- just incredible. They played and played and played. Had a couple of guest from the 'Thunder and Fire' era, and they were just fabulous. The whole thing was so much fun. Too bad it wasn't professionally video-recorded (assuming it was not). Still, I'm real glad to see this.

  • And that is raw, in your face, balls-out rock and roll being played live. Great version.

  • Best live band I've ever seen! I wanted to name my son Warner after the guitarist.

  • cannot believe some of these comments. As a a huge Stray cats / brian Setzer fan and a massive Dave Edmunds fan, i have to concede that this is na amazing version of the George Jones track. Better than Tha e cats and edmunds- there i said it - lol Mikey xx

  • Anyone got a video of the Scorchers doing this live with good audio?

  • I remember Jason when he lived in Cdale-we jammed to There He Goes by Loretta Lynn one day.....musically.....

  • The Scorchers are the best live band I have ever see, and I've seen a good many. Does anyone have a better video of them doing this song?

  • Great to see two my greatest US favourites together!!

  • This video would be amazing if it wan't so shitty.

  • this sucked big time sorry cant hear u really sing the guitars were way to load and if u think this is how country music is played u need to try something else

  • That's not country, you ignoramus.

  • George Jones and dave Edmunds, eat your heart out! Yeehah!

  • Can music be any more fun? I love them.

  • I must agree, Jason is one of the greatest live shows ever. A notch below Springsteen.

  • Sounds to me like they listened to Dave Edmunds version, and NOT the George Jones version. Dave picked this song (the GJ version) on his Tarcks of My Years selection on Radio 2 last week.

    Mikey x

  • Dan Baird's old band The Georgia Satellites recorded the song as well.

  • I was at this show...I've seen them several times in Nashville...one of the greatest live bands of all time!

  • The best one I ever saw was with Shaver when Eddy was still alive and BR-549 at 328. That was one of the last shows I saw with Jeff Johnson.

  • Fricking inCENdiary!!! My GOODNESS, how I would have loved to have seen this live. Thanks for posting this!

  • Yeah! I saw them at Grinnell College in 1987 and won their album in a radio call-in contest on KDIC, "the leftest most station on the dial!"

  • Damn, Warner is bad ass.

  • They need to listen -- hard -- to George. And take some tips. At least they're trying.

  • It's not suppose to sound like No-Show. This is Jason and the Scorchers, not the Grand Ole Opry - they are Alternative Country bordering on Punk and helped in the early to mid 1980's (along with artists like Dwight Yokum) introduce a whole generation in the college tour and club circuit to real country music that would probably never been exposed to it (they also do songs by Hank Williams, etc).

  • Hey uni2ballx - I finally had enough time to go to Jason and the Scorchers Myspace page (via your comment) and do not see any verbiage remotely close to what I wrote above.

As I indicated in my private message to you last week: "I don't plagiarize sir. Some people don't have to copy and paste... we have original thoughts and opinions."

  • I saw the Satellites open 4 Jason in 1989 @ The Diamond Club in Toronto

  • Shit I saw the same show at the Diamond! I think it was in 87 though. Do you have your years mixed up? Best show I've ever seen......The Scorchers were unconscious!

  • listing to that is sharp and painfull!!!!!!

  • One of the best nights of my life. Hands down. Great music and a great crowd.

  • not even close

  • To what?

  • Country mama says it sucks..i think thats what shes tryna get at..but no dude..Kool bit different but still good

  • Nice... but no dice. What do I know, I am from Finland. great song, though

  • jason & dan-

    two true american masters!!!

  • I saw the Georgia Sattelites open for Jason and the Scorchers at the famous Longhorn Ballroom where the Sex Pistols played in 1987.

  • HELL YEAH!

LATE 80's THEY TORE DALLAS UP THAT NIGHT!

DID YOU CATCH THEM AT THE RITZ ON STORY LANE OR VENTURA SURF CLUB IN ADDISON?

ALWAYS AN AWESOME BAND BUT BEST IN THE SMALL CLUBS!!

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm still buzzing from that show....the Ultimate Scorchers Show of All Time!

  • This is the only one I shot that night. I do have a clip from Jason's house earlier in the day that I'll get on here.

  • show off!

  • Wish I could have been to this show!! Any more from that night?
