I was there that night -- just incredible. They played and played and played. Had a couple of guest from the 'Thunder and Fire' era, and they were just fabulous. The whole thing was so much fun. Too bad it wasn't professionally video-recorded (assuming it was not). Still, I'm real glad to see this.
cannot believe some of these comments. As a a huge Stray cats / brian Setzer fan and a massive Dave Edmunds fan, i have to concede that this is na amazing version of the George Jones track. Better than Tha e cats and edmunds- there i said it - lol Mikey xx
this sucked big time sorry cant hear u really sing the guitars were way to load and if u think this is how country music is played u need to try something else
Sounds to me like they listened to Dave Edmunds version, and NOT the George Jones version. Dave picked this song (the GJ version) on his Tarcks of My Years selection on Radio 2 last week.
It's not suppose to sound like No-Show. This is Jason and the Scorchers, not the Grand Ole Opry - they are Alternative Country bordering on Punk and helped in the early to mid 1980's (along with artists like Dwight Yokum) introduce a whole generation in the college tour and club circuit to real country music that would probably never been exposed to it (they also do songs by Hank Williams, etc).
Hey uni2ballx - I finally had enough time to go to Jason and the Scorchers Myspace page (via your comment) and do not see any verbiage remotely close to what I wrote above.
As I indicated in my private message to you last week: "I don't plagiarize sir. Some people don't have to copy and paste... we have original thoughts and opinions."
Shit I saw the same show at the Diamond! I think it was in 87 though. Do you have your years mixed up? Best show I've ever seen......The Scorchers were unconscious!

And that is raw, in your face, balls-out rock and roll being played live. Great version.

I must agree, Jason is one of the greatest live shows ever. A notch below Springsteen.

The best one I ever saw was with Shaver when Eddy was still alive and BR-549 at 328. That was one of the last shows I saw with Jeff Johnson.

They need to listen -- hard -- to George. And take some tips. At least they're trying.
