he stopped in the wrong place! There are no wrong places ,marshals should be able to access all parts of the track quickly.If they cannot its a fault,nobody got hurt THIS time , I hope they corrected this screaming error.
My uncle was a marshal at the singapore grand prix and he told me that they wanted kovalainen to go into the pits but kovalainen stopped at the start/finish line because he said he did not want to endanger the people in the pits. My uncle also said that they were going to stop him at the pit entrance. There are only two openings in the pit wall and they were at the front and the back of the straight but kovalainen stopped at the middle so that's why the marshals took so long to reach him.
@Danielpinov if he didnt care for safety he would have driven his flaming car into the pits which were full of fuel. Quite sure a pit crew would have put it out quicker than a driver
