328 Chauncey Street was actually in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, not Bensonhurst. All of the street references are from that area, 'The Sewer on Himrod Street' 'Dowzers on Dekalb Avenue' . I was born in that area and eventually made the pilgrimage to his apartment building!
