  • we observe our weed lol...this was a nice relaxer i do this one alot...........

  • nice love it

  • Rum Rum Rum Ruuuuuuuuuummmmmmmm !!!!

  • YOU OBSERVE YOUR SELF ,GREAT TO QUITE YOUR MIND,SPECIALLY THE BREATHING THING,NOW AFTER THAT WHERE IS THE LIGHT THAT EVERY BODY TALKS ABOUT,WHERE IS THAT THING THAT YOU PROJECT YOUR SELF OUTWARD SO YOU COULD NAVIGATE THE COSMOS WHILE YOUR ON EARTH IN THE MEDITATION , THIS IS WHAT I WANT ,THIS IS WHAT I NEED ANY HELP HERE, FROM ANY ONE WHO HAS SOME KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THAT? I WILL GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY GOOD ANSWER, SORRY FOR WRITING IN CAPT,I CAN'T SEE WELL ,EVEN WITH GLASSES.

  • @TheNeokorben i think youre striving for what you want too hard. Stop grasping and just relax ........... breathe........ just experience what right now is like. Stop judging and analysing what it is you are experiencing in your meditation...............let go and loosen up and dont forget to breathe...................you should start feeling pretty at peace after just doing that for a while. Youre not supposed to be trying to 'achieve' anything....thats the point.

  • Videos like this are brilliant. I listened to a 10 minute meditation and literally ended up in a lush green rainforest with a beautiful blue cloud-less sky. Then I stumbled upon a water fountain and drank from the water, then when I came back into my normal state, I had a dry mouth and it's really hard to focus on typing this. Some great things you can discover about you and your spirit and soul through meditation. Thank you for this video.

  • ok I have no problem observing myself now but when I have to go to class I get sooo nervous I have a fear of talking in class. I try to observe myself in that situation but it doesnt work, I fear my voice will sound weird and Ill look foolish it really gets out of control. Can someone help me on that?

  • @superabdoulworld You can practice observing your self while speaking in front of a (mirror OR pet OR friend). Later you can do the same while DELIBERATELY sounding weird and looking foolish. Do it until you feel really good.

  • @JimKitzmiller Genius. This technique has unlocked access to the unkown for me in INCREDIBLE ways!

  • @Okijuben Beautiful!

  • @JimKitzmiller How come this works? I have visited this video for YEARS now (2 at least) and this video seems to work among the best Ive seen.

What has been put in this video to be effective? Half the time Im not really listening to what your saying yet I feel like I react positivly anyway..

  • @superabdoulworld i also have school, high school, and have been practicing self observationf or a while now. observe your tendencies to be fearful, but, in the end, there should be a realization that u dont need these fears and stuff nemore. u ahve to let go of unneeded things. be patient

  • @superabdoulworld That it is call panic attack. You may need medication to control it or cognoctive therapy to re-learn how to act in that situations. Usually the panic is a response to a life threatening situation but sometimes the mechanism may "fail" and generates an exagerated response to a minimun stimilus, Exercise coiuld help too.

  • @superabdoulworld i tried chewing gum which helped me with my mouth drying up which worked, obviously you cant be seen to do this in front of others so be discrete, you may be suffering from hypertension so with a combination of beta blockers from your doctor along with a complete healthy life change for your mind and body you should see a difference. This will also help with your life in general, try to avoid booze and caffeine and white bread, eat an apple a day, your demeanour will improve

  • @superabdoulworld - I discovered that if my heart beats fast in a situation, I concentrate on my heart. I kind of look at it as if is a nervous, rambling friend, so I observe it as if I may look at someone else who is just rambling nervously, and as soon as my nervous friend (my heart) notices me giving them the look of, 'It's ok. Your rambling too much...calm down'. It may or may not work for you, but you can give it a try and see. The advice from others below sounds good also, e.g. the mirror

  • @skinnybuddhaboy Hey thanks a lot for your comment. I actually am less nervous now and I am more accepting of my nervousness.

  • @superabdoulworld - Sorry for slow reply, just saw your message now. Thats great that it's working for you! Make sure to keep it up regularely (the Meditation that is). Also, the slow breathing is 1 of the most important aspects of meditation. Once you get used to breathing in deeply and slowly, holding for a second or two, then breathing out slowly and fully, you should feel like you are 'surfing waves of silk with your breath' (as the way I describe it). Don't force the breath, let it flow...

  • @superabdoulworld (continued)...like water, smooth and feeling the air running over your lips. Try maintain this concentration on your breath even after meditation, so when you are making a cup of tea, try and maintain this peacefulness you have attained through your meditation and stay in the moment without getting lost in daydream or thought. You can reach a point of complete awareness where you are aware almost every second of every day, so peaceful, so happy. It's an amazing feeling! : )

  • @superabdoulworld try instead to observe the moment and observe the feelings, dont get involved with the feeling just observe and be awear of them, and observe the thoughts

  • @superabdoulworld each time you get nerous just repeat observering with out being lost in the feelings, just become a silent watcher

  • @superabdoulworld I think that if you try something less centered around yourself you might find some better results. That seems like the very thing that you DON'T want to be doing while public speaking. Beforehand that may be alright, but during your talk you want to focus your energy on what your saying. You want to focus on how you can relate your opinion to an understanding that will reach your peers. Control what you think. Control the energy OUTWARDS while projecting your voice. Breathe.

  • @superabdoulworld But that's just my opinion. I'm no expert.

  • This was very interesting - not very knowledgeable about meditation but looking forward to making it a regular part of life. That said, I found it odd that I listened to exactly 12 seconds of this video (at first lol. I eventually pressed play to listen to the rest - had to let it load, is all) and zoned out, it felt like I was floating. lol Don't know what it was but I did enjoy the entirety of this video. Thanks for making it! :D

  • @SanctusSententia Glad you enjoyed it. Please stay in touch.

  • Thanks. I like it, and the way you guide.

  • this was great. really thanks.

  • I've practised this guided Mindfulness of Jim's for over a year, and although I've been inconsistent I've realized the truth of self-observation: This - its practice, ability and experience - is the 'secret' hidden in us. It is no meditation; Mindfulness is the governing wisdom and our only key to understanding and happiness.

  • i am not my mind.. this is very important for my recovery and i remember this on my 1 year being clean which is today

  • @wagz420 Congratulations on your 1 year being clean!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @wagz420 Yes, congratulations! May the journey become all the easier for you. =)

  • @wagz420 nearing 2 years by now? :) congratulations wagz.

  • @wagz420 So it must be 2 years clean now...well done!!

  • I like the idea of observing ourselves but i felt this video ended too abruptly.

  • love it =)! thx

  • Wow this is so simple, yet so thought-provoking. It really helps if you have depersonalization.\

Oh, and I like how your message tone on your cell went off. LOL.

  • Getting paranoid. Some bugger keeps looking at me!

  • @IntrepidMoocher...that made me literally laugh out loud...im wearing heaphones and my house mate is looking at me with a "your such a freak" expression hehe

  • continue observing oneself...so simple, so effective, so do-able... so gonna do this more often.

  • Thank you for sharing this one, it's truly easy and at the same time has an immense deepness.

  • We have to recognize that we are human and divine at the same time. We are expressions of God. and all that exist nature, the physical Universe is the manifestation of God. We are Magnificent beings. And the only reason why we suffer. is because we exclude God from our lives. We have to work on being aware, of this awareness. and we have to stop saying . Me and Me.only Is something we have created. This is an splendid exercise, and the more

we practice it, the more increase our awareness.

  • To all the people who comment. This is a good meditation and what it means is this: We are not our bodies, we are not the senses, we are not mind. we are I. In others we are the I am Presence. We believe that we are our bodies, and this is what brings trouble all the times. our body is not real. the only reality is the "I" within us. and the "I" is the observer. and we and the observer are one.

Observe what we have created. it transcends, matter, space and time.Is The

    Stillness within us..

  • This is great.. the true meditation simply IS observing..

  • Curiously addictive. Your voice, cadence and hypnotic emphasis on the Observing trances-me-out, hard-core. Feels like I'm almost scratch'n Delta at times, remembering dreams dreamt from years ago, swimming up from the depths. At work I reflect on this vid and suddenly become a little more aware of the Still Witness Watching from within. This is the purest of all your vids, because there's no imagining, no assumptive ego-affirmation New-Age dreck, just pure non-judgmental Watching.

  • @midplanewanderer Thank you :-) You can get MP3s of this and others on my blog at JimKitzmiller dotnet

  • @Jim - "you step out of the dream" - fantastic

  • My friend I can only guess that you are entertaining yourself thinking that you are achieving a "high spiritual state." More aptly this is mental observation, NOT meditation. You are allowing the mind to run freely, entertaining all sorts of observation, when in meditation one should try to harness the horses. Reduce outward thought of 10,000 things, to one thing, then void. No doubt you induce your mind to experience euphoria, but that is only your mind tricking yourself.

  • And what happens when you observe yourself observing yourself observing yourself observing yourself? :)

  • @ZillionSouls You step out of the dream.

  • @ZillionSouls You propably are on acid. But then again, the acid most likely happened first ;P

  • this is wonderful

  • wow i feel differet

  • "You can observe a lot by just watching."

    -- Yogi Berra

  • Thank you so much for this meditation. It has helped me so much through a rough patch. All my love.

  • Ty.I was trying to breath hard while meditation, guess what i jus have to observe it :)

  • I am learning to observe myself and it is liberating! I'm glad to have "stumbled" across this meditation. Thank you.

  • Thanks xD

  • thankyou

  • I listen to this in my sleep :)

  • I'm so glad that I stumbled across this video. It's helped me out a lot, thanks!

  • @paulonthepiano

    helped you what exactly?

  • @eDrifter1

Sit through a meditation video without bailing on it halfway through. I don't know, maybe its the voice.

  • I love this...One of my favorite meditation techniques!

  • I'm not trying to be funny but, what is happening when you observe yourself observing yourself?

  • You're aware of being aware. It's a very high spiritual state.

  • @JimKitzmiller One that I wish to be at all times....absolutely an awesome state to be in. I've saved and used this video post for quiet some time now . Thank you! Miga:)

  • @zenzombie72 Inner peace in Droste effect.

  • @zenzombie72

i agree well said but have you ever done that?

  • i think its because its american, but the voice really creeped me out, abit. sorry.

  • @annaelizabethedith nothing to be sorry about - it is part of the lesson, to observe without judgement

  • I try to do this type of meditation 30 - 45min everyday. i have beautiful experiences during it and after. i completly empty myself. but i have a question, as i am worried. they say after you meditate you have to be carefull what you do after because your empty, and you can fill your self up with negativity. now what i do after i meditate is i freestyle ( i rhyme over instrumental beat music, without really thinkning i just let it flow, and it comes from passion, peace, anger, love,) is this bad?

  • That sounds great to me. I'll give it a try.

  • Just always surround yourself with light, thats what I do.

  • @nobodyx7 I think you're okay and don't have to worry about negativity. If you feel bad, or good, or angry, or passionate, that's fine.

  • Thanks a lot. This was very beneficial for me; it helped me to let go of my negative, angry thoughts almost immediately. I will include this exercise in my morning routine.

  • Thanks I really enjoyed this.

  • I agree that meditation is wonderful and I do it daily, but if this man says "we observe ourselves" one more time... This is not a well guided meditation. He should speak slower and softer and not as often. His voice is not calming. I am not trying to be rude, I do enjoy the benefits of meditation and the different kinds. There are many beneficial guided breathing "observing" videos on here. But I could not go within on this one due to the constant repetitive "observe ourselves" Slow down!

  • I wander if I'm doing this right? Am I supposed to keep my eyes open or no? How do you do this?

  • @Buttaredtoast there is no right or wrong way to do it, sit however makes you the most comfortable and close your eyes if you want or keep them open if you want it doesn't matter. The main thing is not to take it so seriously and just relax.

  • Simply allow your attention to be on your self. You can do this either with your eyes open or your eyes closed - whichever you prefer.

  • I find the calming effects of the meditation do not come during the meditation but in the hours afterwards...what's this about?

  • It's like ripples on a pond. As u send the msg out, it ripples thru all the things that u apply it 2.

  • it's called sleep

  • wow i just whent into this wierd trance everythingin my mind went white and i just felt really peachfull and everytime i breathed it felth like i was being blown up with energy thanks man it was amzing

  • You are most welcome.

  • Hello.

I was on a while ago and you answered my question. It hasnt helped, im still plagued and now it seems i am taking to having panic attacks for no reason. I suddenly feel claustrophobic, my head hurts and my heart races. What do i do?

  • You might want to make sure you're diet doesn't include caffeine, sugar, or anything that converts to sugar such as starches. You could benefit from the meditation on letting go of struggle.

  • But some sugar, obviously, as most food do contain traces of sugar, and it is also a very important part of your diet.....just saying .. :)

  • @HeliosTuor I have high anxiety as well. I think you would benefit more with binaural beats (alpha theta and delta) and or the solfeggio frequencies. There are a plethora of these type videos on here. The help me A LOT! As for "the benefit of letting go of struggle" I think what he means is just relax and take it easy, there is no right or wrong way to meditate. Go to my page I have favorited a lot of meditations that REALLY relax you.

  • Wow! Thank you. I have had so much tension in my lungs and chest all day it was almost unbearable. This meditation released the tightness in my chest and stress I was experiencing. Thank you sooooooo much. Grateful. To anybody wondering if meditation is effective ...it is extremely helpful and nurturing to your soul.

  • That is really good to hear. Thank you so much.

  • thats great i have panic attacks and depression and this really does help and it doesnt take hrs. to do thanks jimkitzmiller.

  • Wonderful video. This is one of the most relaxing meditation techniques I have tried. Thanks!

  • You're most welcome. I'm happy that the meditation helped.

  • I believe he means 'Extricate' ourselves from...not extrovert.

  • now i don't want to be online at all

  • Is there a meditation technique for ridding yourself of dark thoughts or negative memories?

If so message me, i'd be most appreciative

  • There are lots of such meditations on the MeditationVacations . com website. You might start with the one on giving your self approval.

    Thank you for asking.

    Jim

  • The more you 'try' to rid yourself of dark thoughts or negative memories, the more they will happen. Let the thoughts and memories come as they may and try not to attach to them - feel the feelings associated with them in order to release the memories/emotions connected with them, come back to your breathing and observing your thoughts. With time, they will lessen but trying to repress them will only give them more energy.

  • So I'm here trying to chill, calm. Then the speaker says something about noticing that there are two selves; one being observed, and one doing the observing. I tried to observe the self doing the observing and got all nervous and frustrated again.

  • You might like the meditation to let go of struggle. It's on this same YouTube channel.

  • You may find that if you keep at it (observing the self) it will make sense and you will be comfortable about it .

  • A simple a beautiful practice. Thank You :)

  • only an empty rice bowl can be filled.

  • Heh, half empty too.

  • hit the nail on the head.. observing ourselves is the first step toward freedom from being judgemental all the time..

  • Well said :-)

  • thank U Jim for this video, I can fel my shakrawheels tickling me every time i listen to this and its a strong feeling.

I cant belive that a reading voise can have so mutch effect on a body, this got 2 b the best vid Utube have in memory, but i have to remember t observe my self all the time.

    Thank U.

  • Jim,

I can appreciate the simplicity of the approach here and I've found it to be very effective. The absence of any theatrical music or imagery makes it easier to remain engaged with the experience.

    Look forward to more videos.

    Thanks so much.

  • Thank you so much. I really appreciate the feedback.

  • Thanks, Jim, for offering a wonderful tool for observing ALL that IS!

Albert Villoldo. in his book 'Earth Keepers, teaches a similar approach to conscious meditation, where one flows past mind-clutter by asking this simple question: 'Who is asking the question.' Then we are able to identify with the Self who is the Observer, the one who is beyond the boundaries of the physical, operating at the level of Spirit. What bliss!

  • Thank you so very much for the info. I really appreciate it. Jim

  • I've been doing this soothing practice for a few days now, using your video, and it does in fact give the word 'relax' and 'peace' a new meaning -- it's brilliant.

So simple, yet incredibly powerful. Thank you, for sharing this piece of wisdom Jim. :]

  • It's wonderful to hear how much this helped. Thank you so much. Jim

  • THANK YOU :)

  • do we observe ourselves?

  • Thank u 4 this video. It was just what I needed 2day :)

  • Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • The very fact that we can "observe ourselves" is just mind-blowing. I mean, it's cool enough that we're conscious beings, but the fact that we're conscious of our own consciousness...amazing.

  • Yes, it is amazing and wonderful. We can life life in quiet amazement.

  • maybe we just think we can observe ourselves, something every animal might be able to do.

true observation is objective- we are not!

  • It's a mystery, in my view. As slowmonkey156 wrote, the power to focus on our own consciousness, and in fact observe it, is amazing to say the least.

Many spiritualists define the "Self" and consciousness as transcending, immaterial. Mystics in religion may say the "soul" is cosnciousness, emanated from the intangible "God."

  • What is truly special about the human experience is that we can observe our thinking.

  • Meditation can bring us closer to God. You might like to try the God's Love meditation on my channel.

  • Jim, a silly question. When you say Observe ourselves, are you suggesting that we visually observe ourselves or observe ourselves within?

I usually keep my eyes closed and focus on my breathing body within. Sometimes I do this meditation with my eyes open and observe my self visually. Which is more effective, in your opinion? P.S. Are you on twitter? If not, i am now following some other Jim Kitzmiller there.

  • We can observe our selves by simply placing our attention on our selves. We can be the witness.

You can experiment with the eyes open and later with the eyes closed. You can determine which is better for you at the time.

I am on Twitter with the name blissercise.

  • hey guys i have a question i got into meditation and im a christian so i need a chritians advice does god care if we meditate i started to but i started hearing things and seeing things ever since i started shakral meditation

  • I don't mean to be rude but the idea that God would be angered by you focusing away from all the hectic crazy crap in the world and just focus on yourself and trying to find an inner balance... that's just crazy.

Seeing things.... if you feel these are dreams, and/or obvious fantasy, NP. but if you feel these could be remotely classified as hallucinations, you probably need some help, at the least an in person advisor for a couple sessions.

  • no i dont think its hallucinations i see theese shadows eversinc ei started meditation so there HAS to be some kind of connection between the two i can see this meditation has some true pontentiol that i would just LOOOOVE to unlock but it also came with things i didnt not want :\

  • hey i jus recently got into all this also, bt ive bn seeing shadows too @ first i was scared b/c i thought i was trippen bt tht was jus me trying to keep myself from being even more freaked out.

  • zuk...as a Christian man of over 20 years, I can tell you that, at first, the meditation process seems strange to "us" Christians only because we've never been taught the "how to". Our master meditated, he spent many hours in silence, getting in touch with the divine within - and you are doing the same. Hearing and seeing things is normal - no need to analyze, just observe. Don't judge...which is honestly the hardest part for most Christians!! In 2 years, I've grown closer to Christ and God.

  • thank you for the advice but ive beeen talking to some one else and ever since he toldd me to meditate on gods love ive never heard or seen those shadows again infact i feel so far from satan its ridiculous but awesome :)

  • your an idiot I cant believe you just asked that.

  • how would i know instead of scoulding me with your mindless insults maybe you could give me an answer?

  • If there is a self that is observing, and a self that is doing the observing is there a self that is observing the self that is doing the observing, and for that matter, a self that is observing that observing self? (ha...guess i really need this video...thanks.)

  • It actually is an infinite loop. Not really a problem, more of a quirk of consciousness. When self-referencing, who is referencing and who is being referenced? If they are the same thing, how is it possible? Delving into this paradox yields more questions than answers, but that won't stop me from doing so. I wouldn't say that there are "multiple levels of self-hood," just that it is hard to define what the self actually is.

  • newly, we observe ourselves. good stuff!

  • Good suggestion. Thank you.

  • Great video. Very realxing.

Only thing I think could be improved upon is the sound quality of your voice. You have a great voice, just need to record it clearer.

  • good

  • This is really good! At the beginning I said to myself ya right then I closed my eyes just listening to you, WOW! Very effective. I never knew how to relax.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I guess I will be listening to you regularly.

    Hina

  • I feel your tone and pace is perfect for this. Really effective.

  • Thank you. I appreciate that.

  • your voice is very calm actually....i like it.... i listen to this a lot- i wish it was longer=)

  • Thank you for letting me know.

  • I didn't find anything stressed or rushed about your voice, Jim, I reckon you're doing a great job.

  • Thank you. That is very encouraging.

  • I am sorry, but there is something about your voice that seems rushed or stressed. Because of that, I didn't find this very relaxing or effective. I am simply offering this as constructive criticism.

  • I suppose you could in a sense call me "lost". Perhaps I can find myself again through this. Interestingly enough, it was effective. I found my senses sort of changing. My eye sigh in particular. Even with my glasses off, things started be more..... "clear" so to speak. Maybe I'll do this more often.

  • Great! Please keep at it.

  • Yeah thanks. It helped me get off my Martini fit. And by that I mean, well, my Martini made me feel horrible. I guess I'm just not a drinker lol. I try but, I can't. Felt real depressed and

    anxious with that Martini.

  • I hope you stick with the meditations. Please let me know how it goes.

  • that was amazing

  • observe your feeling such as touch sound thoughts let them disapear. they disappears gradually. Once the senses and thoughts disappear, your mind is open. And you are in deep meditation. That's when you start to gain insight and knowledge of who we really are.

  • There is no such thing as death! Life is only a dream! And we are the imagination of ourselves

  • Also bear in mind, that dreams are real too, while they last. Such is life, it is real until death takes it away.

No matter how much the dream screams it is a dream, the dream will never believe it, nor understand it, for only the dreamer who wakes up can know that. The dream sees only itself, and nothing other.

Being the dreamer of the dream, or the self within the dream is the thing that matters, which is what this meditation teaches.

  • YOU HAVE A SOOTHING VOICE.

(seriously). Without judgement a big tool

    to learn!

  • So just to make sure I got this straight... We observe ourselves, right?

  • By chance inevitably some will appear 2 predict the future .Chance not psychic abilities.

  • Everyone dreams 5 x a night with multiple events .

  • So how is it many people suffer from memory loss when they wake up. Not remembering one much less the fact that they were unconsciously living five different 'events'?

Some that I'm sure many people have been wondering.

  • In high school psychology we learned you only remember the REM state prior to waking .However if you recognise something from your dreams it will jog your memory.

  • The weird thing though for me I remember things that make no sence at all. Whether it be the very first thing I dreamt or the last but if it makes no sence at all it sticks to me. Kinda awkward really...
