I guess dad on the ladder half way up the tree with an electric chainsaw makes for good laughs on americas funniest home videos. Economys tough, more people are doing more on there own that hiring the pros.
Naw, this chump was a CA. Im sure there are good arborist out there, just not any worth a damn where i live. Ya, i was on a climbing crew for a subcontracted company with pg&e, trimmed around HV lines for two and a half years. loved every minute of it! thought about going and getting my arborist cert, but i got more jobs without one. learned the basics of directional trimming and whatnot. Now folks cant afford to hire an arborist with the economy.
Damn Dude, dont get butt hurt! All im saying is that just because you go to school, doesnt give anyone a rat shit right to charge folks out the ass to trim trees. My grandmother hires asswipe with a certification, asswipe drops limb on lines, lines cross-phase, transformer blows, 2 blocks w/o power for 3 days, asswipe charges grandmother $2000 dollars for the trimming. Get Bent! Do arborist realy learn how to trim or just write reciepts?
@seatmech2000 i think you have the wrong idea of what an arborist is. there is a CA who often climbs the trees and preforms the work, then there is a MA municipal arborist that often works with a planning board. i have been climbing and pruning trees since i was 10 years of age. sure loggers may have better felling knowledge but when it comes to tree selection, pruning, planting and hazard assessments an arborist knows his stuff better then a logger
Why hire an arborist you say? cause they have a piece of paper certifying them to charge little ole ladies $2000 dollars to trim two trees in there front yard, blow the powerline transformer and leave a couple blocks without power for a couple of days. Next time hire a logger, they do much better work, for less $, and they dont break anything. Knowledge isnt experience! Experience is knowledge!
