  • interesting. any thoughts on My Little Pony FiM where the 'african' voice is on the zebra Zecora, and native americans are shown as buffalo? what does that leave the 'normal' ponies to be in terms of race. so much for raceless cartoon characters.

  • there are always some truth behind stereotypes. just saing

  • so at 2:00 she is saying that seeing the good in people is bad? what the hell kind of message is that. i will admit that disney pumps youth with negative messages but that one is just ridicuous.

  • @mrmoosedoctor that's not what she's saying. it's not as simple as "seeing the good in people". it falls down to "stay with you're abuser because you can change him with smiles"...i think we can both agree that staying with an abuser in any situation is harmful.

  • Why aren't we criticizing nickelodeon? They're much worse, in my opinion

  • @elphabasfriend001 While I agree that nickelodeon is worse, they never used to be.

  • wow beauty and the beast... with beast yes of course he is very angry, look how everyone has treated him. But once she shows compassion and he realizes that people actual are nice to a ugly beast like him. He doesn't just change, he realizes who he use to be..

  • @TPerky4D But... He was condemned to the form of a beast because he was cruel, violent, and heartless in the first place... The fairy cursed him because he was to selfish and shallow to let an old woman in from the cold...

  • I think some of it is strange and the crows in Dumbo were perhaps the worst when it comes to "racism" aspect but the Hyena's? really? Do you think a child is dissecting these movies as much as Adults are? I've watched Disney movies over and over in my life and I haven't realized half of the things they are "analyzing". And, all excited, laughing children in one area sound like hyena's, not just black children. Also, dates of these movies need to be checked many things have happened since 1930?

  • Another thing that bugs me is the whole hyena thing. They say that the lions are all just American/British. Oh, so Sarabi's voice actress suddenly doesn't count then?

Also, since I am not from America, I never even noticed that the hyenas were voiced by minorities until I was older. There are some people that just REALLY seem to go a bit too far with these arguments. I'm not denying there isn't a race problem in Disney movies, just that particular example in Lion king is rather piss poor.

  • Sorry, but that chihuahua argument was a pile of shit.

First, "What's this thing about latinos being dogs?" Well, there are two movies in which this occurs. And in those two movies, all the characters (except a couple of cats) ARE DOGS! Second, Tito isn't the only one who breaks the law. The whole gang of them steal money for their owner. Third, the dogs' breeds relate to their nationality. E.g. A grumpy, stingy scotty terrier that has a Scottish accent. Should I be offended?

  • @NikiPaprika I think the point being made here is that that's the only way Latinos/Latinas are ever portrayed. Also, can dogs really break the law, since they don't really understand it?

  • Crap, she has a point. But do children really think that way? Maybe I was different, but I never took Disney movies deeply, not more than what the movie was explicitly saying....

  • TARZAN: ok so ure complaining that the black people in tarzan are shown as worse than the one white man. THEN U'RE COMPLAINING THAT IN THE DISNEY VERSION, THERE IS NO BLACK PERSON! MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plus, it was based off a BOOK. !!!!!!!

  • Back in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and even 70s sexism and racism were normal, not correct but normal, so its not entirely Disney's fault, and most of the fairytales that Disney's 90s films are based off of, had the character do these actions, plus in the Little Mermaid the villain is female, so she is in a powerful position, so again its not entirely Disney's fault, its called satire. Well any ways I was more of a Anime fan any ways...

  • well, he's actually a human in the body of a beast, but that's still sort of a good point...

  • just because the voice actor is black don't make the character black. EX. Kratos VA is black but he is a Spartan!

  • @Marcelchan and? Greeks at that point in time came in all spectrum colors of the rainbow, particularly those with darker complexions. Think of how close Africa is to Greece and how limited the breadth of the ancient world's maps were...at that point in time there weren't many, perhaps any, Caucasian people at all. *Must do more research on this matter.*

  • the only thing that i do not agree with is when Jacqueline M. from Du Bois Instiute said that the black children sounded just like the hienas... i'm pretty sure that black children and white children do not laugh different enough to tell the difference. i should know i live inner city, and i do not notice a difference in the way a child laughs no mater the language or accent/ slang used

  • Excellent upload and thank you.

Disney doesn't provide a healthy image for young boys either. This is a blade that cuts both ways.

There is something creepy going on in Disney.

What is behind all of this is something insidious and wicked.

Star Wars is another openly racist product being pushed onto our children.

  • @KEKKREEM Star Wars are you fucking kidding me Star Wars? God are you gonna call toy story racist because there aren't any main black characters in it or hey lets call jurassic park racist, I don't remember seeing any indians in that movie. You socialists always try to find something that isn't there or twist something around to prove your point. Everyone is a little racist whether you want to admit it or not so get off your high horse and stop over analyzing everything

  • @guccilow

Socialist? You have no idea what you are talking about. You are beyond help. Narrow of mind and too simple to think laterally about anything. You are so easily programed it is both sad and funny at the same time. Get off YOUR high horse.

    Blow me.

  • @KEKKREEM Um no and please prove me wrong with all your wisdom about how everything is racist. How do you know your not the programmed one you probably got the idea that all of the disney movies are racist because you saw some video on youtube and the same for star wars, they are just movies quit bitching it's not like a kid is going to watch Beauty and the Beast then automatically become a women abuser or allow a man to abuse her

  • @guccilow

You are simple and you are misquoting my initial comment. No one is bitching, just pointing out the obvious you are too simple to notice. Shut up and go away and ride your hand.

  • @KEKKREEM I'm simple? Ya because I don't try to pick out every little detail in movies that may have racist themes. You still haven't proved me wrong you keep saying the same thing over and over. Seriously who the fuck watches a movie like Stars Wars and sees racist propaganda instead of a movie about a Galactic War, which is what its meant to be.

  • @guccilow

    You are so dim. Wow.

  • @KEKKREEM And you are an idiot who can't defend their position. Congrats.

  • not being strange but...not only does belle fall for an abusive beast..but she falls in love with an animal!!! thats called beastiality

  • Thats actually a fair point 0_0
