No the peace sign is fine, it depends on which way round the fingers are pointing. If your palm is shown towards another with the two fingers thats peace but the other way round (palm towards your face) is a swear.

thought the 2 fingers held up in a V was from way before ww2. thought it originated way back when england had the bes longbowman in the world and the french would cut off thier fingers if they got captured. So the english would hold up thier fingers in a V as in "fuck you i still got my fingers"

It makes sense but has never had any factual evidence to back it up, though it is believed that the swear originates from the two V's meaning 'I am fucking your wife'.
