You can use de-ionised water, however contaminants such as traces of solder flux can cause it to become increasingly conductive. I am not about to immerse my PC in oil but it is good to see some more imaginative approaches...
You are right. I just got done watching this in a different video and the guy explained how a group of guys tried using the purest water they could and it ran okay, but soon it caused a short. Then they did the oil thing and it worked.
it definately says rape. It's a yellow flower that blossoms in early spring, rich in mineral oils that could be used for many applications including coking or used as a combustible in place of diesel. It's mostly found in central europe (correct me if I'm wrong)
it would be an even better idea to not submerge the psu so that it dosnt add to the heat buildup in the oil. also a small pump to circulate the oil from bottom left of the case to top right of the case maybe with a radiator in there somewhere to dissipate the heated oil. might be a nice overclock.
They use oil in new phone lines to keep moisture out! It actually protects the wires.-shrug-I don't understand it but I saw it with my own eyes. I guess the same principle would apply here that it wouldn't damage most components because of non conductive moisture protectant properties.
I too am interested in the hard drive. Hard drives rely upon air pressure to suspend the head above the disk. This air pressure is inherited from the ambient, meaning the air inside a hard drive communicates with the air outside the drive. If you replace the ambient air with oil, I believe your head would crash at some point. This is not an insignificant question, as my hard disk is the source of most of the noise in my air-cooled PC.
dude that monitor had to be hooked up to another computer there is no way you can just poor 8 gallons of weson oil in a computer and expect it to be even beter than a dry computer thats a good trick man
so would it really work with todays cpus or not?

Oil doesn't conduct electricity, it's not fake.

How does the oil prevent the cpu from frying? Doesnt liquid + electricity = BAD???
nightfire4107 2 years ago
@nightfire4107 The oil is what's called dielectric -- which means it's non-conductive.
nhall87 1 year ago
You should at least use transparent oil.. yellow, looks like pee

problem with water.... it has the potnetal to have very conductive solutes in it... or get them from the environment.
think of curcit bending but with an expensive cpu.

lol your such a noob 1 oil is non conductive 2 the oil works as 1 big heat sink for the whole mother bord so yes it runs beter then a "dry computer"
