The asteroid is somewhat asymmetrical in shape, with a diameter roughly 250 meters (800 feet) in size. TU24 will pass within 334,000 miles of Earth and it won't be back around until the end of next century.

Geez mate! why hasnt anyone actually proposed that the E.U. theory must be bunkum as the asteroid is travelling through the same solar space as earth is.. obviously this must mean earth will repell the asteroid to alpha centauri..8-)

I saw some reports of an asteroid in the media some time ago...
If it is the same one - it is going to pass by the Earth at a further distance than the Moon is - and it is a lot smaller...

Nope. We'd survive even if it DID hit us. It's only the size of a large skyscraper. Comparatively, the asteroid that wiped out the Dinosaurs was about the size of Manhattan. That thing wiped out a good two-thirds of life on Earth, but most animals were at the time reptiles, which were very vulnerable. So don't worry, humanity would DEFINITELY survive an impact.

Just goes to show you, that the universe is throwing rocks at everyone... Earth on the 29th, Mars on the 30th... Good thing the universe isn't a good shot! Then again everyone gets lucky once in a while... Let's just hope it is a long long while... right!
