Nice video and playing! Can you tell how does it is compared to the Tweaker ? I just bought the Tweaker and Im not very happy because when playing clean it sounds harsh
Dude you were burning it up. sounded great. what was that little thing you were playing when you were demonstrating the clean channel? I really liked the sound of that. thanks
Very nice guitar work -- Very clean -- Does the rebel 30 have hiss issues for you? I am interested in the amp but am using it for home recording and hiss would be an issue.
By hiss issue compared to similar 22 - 30 watt amps how is the hiss?
I don't really have any hiss issues. You might try checking to make sure the tubes are seated properly and that your electrical outlet is grounded properly.
whats your posion, think U are more of a dirty sounding type of guy, I have a bassman 100, which sound awesome, had the house next door round complain again he he thinking of trading it for a less powerfull fender sf amp, something like the PR, I would have a vibro champ as they seem to be good sounding, not as good as a 4*12, but still nice
I love a SF Princeton Reverb. One of the best amps of all time. And if you swap out the stock speaker for a Celestion Greenback, I feel like it gets some of that bigger amp woof which is cool.
Do you think that this amp in its head version would be versatile enought for doing stuff like SRV, Random Bluesy stuff, AC/DC, Rush, Mr Big, and even **Iron Maiden**?
**(please answer if the gain in the amp is enought or if it needs a boost)
Or do you think other of this lunchbox tipe amps would suit me better? (only lunchbox type because they have to be carried from USA to Chile by my brother...)
Hey Dog . .nice playing . .which sounds better to you . .the Eggy30, the Eggy Tweaker, or the Line 6 dt50? . .I'm looking for a decent amp thats flexible to play smaller gigs and at home but won't make me sell a kidney to buy it. thanks dude, you make great vids . .
The bridge humbucker is a Tom Anderson H2+ that I can split with a mini toggle switch. The front pickup... I'm not sure. One of Tom Anderson's noiseless single coils.
Oh, what I wouldn't give for a YouTube poster who actually balances the narrative volume with the guitar volume! Shouldn't be that tough to accomplish!
A dumb question that I simply have to ask: How much does the lack of a 'middle' eq on the clean channel narrow the tonal range compared to the Renegade? I've only had a chance to try out the Renegade and it's almost perfect - just kinda too big and loud for my taste and needs, so I wonder how close a Rebel 30 can get to a Renegade?
I LOVE the Renegade, so to me there's a bit of a letdown in comparison. But the Rebel 30's cleans are fat cleans similar to what you'd get from Fender Bassman, which coincidentally is part of the thinking behind the Renegade's clean channel. They're similar and I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not being able to adjust the mids. However, if you wanna turn the mids off and scoop them out for a Blackface kinda sound, that will be tougher.
@dognmoon Renegade 112 is proudly standing next to me right now ;) Major problem with Egnater amps is the moment when you have to choose - Tweaker, Rebel, Renegade - they all sound very, very nice and 'huge'. Renegade is probably the most versatile one, and I guess the 6L6/EL34 combination hits the right spot(s) for me ;)
you nailed bonamassa's tone. which is seriously making me consider one of those taylors. im kind of looking for a swiss army knife guitar. right now i think its between this and a prs
great playing and great amp. i'm upgrading my rig soon and the egnater looks perfect, but I'm curious about the volume. think it could handle a loud bar/small club? and does the tone change much at max volume?
It'll definitely break up as you push it harder. I think it'll be plenty loud, especially if you play through efficient speakers in something like a 2x12 cab. I think you'd be fine, and it'll sound great as you drive it a little harder.
I have a great relationship with Bruce Egnater and the guy who runs their west coast operations. Lots of love there so I usually get a couple of each amp that comes out a few weeks before they're available. The amps are great but the people are even greater. :)
That bridge pickup is a Tom Anderson H2+ humbucker. I also have a mini switch that switches the pickup into a parallel wiring instead of series and it clean it up and makes it a little more sparkly. I think I have it in series (on full) here in the video.
Rosewood will be darker with a sharper top top end. You might try pushing the mids on the amp a little more. Also, roll a pinch of the treble off, but add the tight and bright switches.
Don't be afraid to turn the knobs to drastic places. If it's muddy with a LP, turn the treble way up and cut the bass way down. Turn on the bright and tight switches.
I was at the local GC today and tried out this amp and the tweaker.
I think the reason I liked the rebel 30 better was its reverb which I could get a stand alone unit for.
I'm really having a hard time deciding between the two I like the wattage control on the 30 as well as the added reverb. And on the tweaker I like the Options that actually seem to do what they were designed to and the price
You have mentioned that you used other tubes in your tweaker did it seem to make a large difference?
Yeah, different tubes in the Tweaker kinda revoices it a little but they don't add any headroom or power difference. EL34's seem glassier and crunchier. 6L6's seem smoother and more refined.
@dognmoon From what I understand power tubes don't really make that much of a difference until you push them into distortion. so for me (bedroom guitarist) I will never know the difference lol. Only thing I kinda liked on the rebel 30 that I wish was on the tweaker is the watts knob, mostly to get more distortion at similar volumes, it is kinda tough using the master volume to where barely moving it makes a huge difference for "bedroom" levels.
You will definitely hear subtle differences even at lower volumes, but I agree- the most character of the power tubes are gonna come out when they're pushed to overdrive.
@LainOfTheRealWorld I went through the same thought process and chose the Rebel 30 for the flexibility of 2 channels. The Tweaker switches did give some nice, different tonal options, but the switches also affected the overall volume. So for use in live music situations, it would be too difficult to keep flipping Brit / Cal / Hot / Vintage etc and then figuring where to adjust volume to get back to the same level. The rebel gave great distorted and clean sounds with no hassle.
I would have liked to have heard what it sounds like in distortion mode with the volume backed off. Thats very important to us seasoned players who want those in between gain tones and clean tones without switching out of the dirty channel. Thats why the Budda amps sell like hotcakes. I know Egnater makes great amps but I want to hear what happens in distortion mode when you back off the guitar volume. For me thats what will make me but this amp. Please if u can make another video.
Hi there,awesome video and very helpful(sorry for my bad English) i want to ask you a question about rebel 30 head,can i change the tubes with 6L6/EL34?you said that you prefer these tubes than 6V6/EL84 but i can't afford the renegade head or combo.Thanks in advance mate:)
No, you can't swap tubes in the Rebel 30. If you wanted to try some different tubes, buy the Tweaker instead. I use mine with EL34's and just swapped those out for some nice 6V6's yesterday. You can almost any tube in the Tweaker.
Just how muchh louder is the Renegade than the Rebel-30? I don't know if I asked this before but could you use the Renegade in a room like the one your playing in?
The Renegade just has a sweeter tone than the Rebel -30 not that the rebal is bad tone just different, Clean and Distortion.
I agree that the Renegade is far superior to the Rebel 30. Renegade is a great gigging amp and it CAN get good tones at lower volumes, but it really wants to be played a little louder. If you wanna get great tones at really low volumes, I'd recommend the Tweaker.
I was listening to the audio demos on the Egnater site and comparing the Rebel-30 to the Tweaker. Is it me or does the Tweaker sound better in the distortion side? Everyone is telling me that the Renegade head is overkill for bedroom,livingroom playing.
Renegade might be a little loud for the bedroom player, but it's a great gigging amp. The Tweaker doesn't stop impressing me. Egnater's finest small amp.
Similar, but bigger, more options, and the channels seem a little on the darker side. I much prefer the Tweaker if you're looking for a single-channel Egnater these days.
Nice Demo. I was trying to decide between the Rebel 30 head with a 2X12 Egnater cab or a Orange Dual Terror w/ their 2X12 cab. One of the guys at Church has the Renegade 65 Watt with the El-34 tubes. It is sweet. What do you think about the quality of Laney? The Tone King just demo'd a Randall RT100 tube head that was great. Now Mesa Boogie comes out with a low watt trans-Atlantic head. Too many to choose from and not enough money in the bank. Send me your comments.
I agree, there are almost too many options these days. I just played a Dual Terror through a 2x12 cab and it was great at loud volumes. I was VERY impressed. Renegade is great. The new Tweaker is my favorite of the newer Egnaters. It's crazy good. Randall stuff is nice but I prefer the US-made Egnater Modular amps like the MOD50. I haven't tried the Trans-Atlantic but it looks great. "Not enough money in the bank"... Me neither!! haha :)
I used 11's for a few years but have since gone back to 10's. Funny, though, this green Anderson in the video is strung with 9's because I had to do a recording of a satriani tune and I wanted the strings to be really easy and slinky.
@dognmoon Out of curiousity - what amp are you using now? I've seen your videos on most all of the current Egnater line - just curious which one you've settled on.
It's a brand new amp from Egnater. It just came out last month. Single channel with lots of different sounds. Probably my favorite of the latest Egnaters.
it sounds really nice but i wish SOMEONE would come out with a low wattage combo or head that is a 2 channel footswitchable amp with fender cleans and Plexi distortion. i know that may sound rediculous but it would really be the best of both worlds. i was considering the orange tiny terror but it's distortion just seems to fuzzy to me and it's only one channel. if anyone knows of an amp that is similar to what im asking then lemme know. the blackstar ht5 is a possiblity but too low wattage
The Renegade will get you closer, but it's louder than the Rebel and it will be harder to get it down to bedroom volumes and still sound great. I don't think either one will get you into the modern metal amount of gain. You might need a stompbox in front.
Maybe you answered this already, but just curious, why did you get the Rebel 30 and the Renegade, aren't they very similar in terms of tone (I know the Renegade is more wattage). Thanks, great demo.
Actually, revelinabandon, I do some side-work for Egnater here and there and they compensate me in amplifiers. BUT, I'm a huge fan of the amps, so it works to my advantage. It's like a guy who loves burgers working at Burger King. :)
The Rebel 30 and Renegade are similar in that they both come from Egnater and will therefore sound like they came from the same maker. But the Rebel 30 has a darker clean channel and a little more Classic rock grit on the drive channel. The Renegade is more versatile in terms of switching, boosts, and channel switching. I think the Renegade is one of the best amps in the lineup. BUT, I just got a few Tweakers from them (a new amp) and it has become my new favorite.
I tried this out next to a Tiny Terror and the clean was incredible and blew away the TT's ability to do clean but the gain channel sounded like it was blanketed (ie dark) compared to the TT. No matter what I did to the EQ and such I couldnt' get as hi fi sounding as the TT. Is this consistent with your experiences? It does sound similar to what I heard in your video, but that's just the camera mic, right?
I got this amp recently and it is really fucking feature packed. However, as you say, the gain channel is sort of a fat bluesy sound. I like to play alot of distorted heavier sounding metal though, so I just throw a pedal on the front end. Most guitarists play around with alot of effects anyway, in order to tailor make the sound they like.
TT's sound raw, but they're a 1 trick pony really. This amp has SO much going for it. Effects loop, variable wattage, tube mix, and brother is it LOUD!!
Yeah, the TT is kinda known for that scrapey, high fidelity crunch drive. It cuts through a mix really well. The Rebel will always sound a little fatter by comparison, but there are places where each would be desirable. In terms of versatility, though, there's really no contest. The Rebel has so much to offer.
@dognmoon when i looked at it, it looked like something was missing but i bet now that you added that pickup it look better and will be able to get some cool sounds.
That particular one is a Tom Anderson Classic. It's about 15 years old. Basswood body and the neck is extra fat. In this video, it's just two pickups with a 3-way switch, but I went back and had Tom cut a hole for the 3rd pickup and change the switch to a 5-way. The little mini-toggle-switch in front of the 5-way splits the humbucker for single coil tones.
I just want to say Thanks. I have been searching for a great amp for sometime and could never decide on the right one. After seeing your demo I knew I had to have this one and it is now on the way. Great demo and info.
Hey man, great demo! One of the really few out there and by far the best. I am into that amp but I am really into direct out recording, would it be okay if I ask you few questions about it? Mainly if I can crank the tubes up and still not have my line in levels jump to the red zone immediately...
You would just need to mind the trim levels (input levels) on your console or recording interface. I have tracked with the direct outs once (for a Farmers Insurance commercial) and it sounded great.
hey dude , great demo, and nice playing, i wanna get this egnater rebel but im wondering if it...can produce a mark tremonti sound ( creed , alter bridge)??
Thanks for the great demos, really nicely done with very helpful commentary. Actually better than the guys who work in the guitar department of the local big chain music store! One question; would you say, considering the tube config of the two amps, that the Renegade's el34s with gain applied have more of a Marshall feel in regards to tone and response and the Rebel's el84s are more Vox-like? I'm looking for a kind of Brit-pop/post punk sound in a small package.
I think that's a good assessment. The Rebel has a tube-mix knob, though so you can split between a VOX ac15 and a fender deluxe. And the Renegade has both 6L6 and EL34 for a big Fender or Big Marshall sound. Both are great amps, though. I just prefer the Renegade.
These demos are better than the ones egnater has on the net...well done....great sounds and great playing,at last someone who can play and understands what gigging players without access to a local dealer like me are looking for in an online demo.... i'm looking at the rebel 30 head and the 1 x 12 cab as my 'dry' amp in a wet/dry/wet setup and your demo has me sold... cheers..nice guitars BTW..the LP clone sounds amazing..i'm using strats,a tele and a original yamaha SG2000s...cheers....
I have a spider valve 112 but can't seem to get a good tone out of it unless it's cranked. This is a problem when playing live as we normally mic everything to keep stage volume down. Does the rebel 30 perform better at low volume or would you recommend something smaller? Problem is, we don't mic at rehersal so, I can't go too small.
The SV112 is a cool amp, but I agree, it needs to be cranked to really shine. The rebel does GREAT at low volumes, and actually has a silent/direct out that sounds great too. I've tracked sessions with the direct outs and they sounded nice and warm. Unfortunately, you lose all of the effects and versatility that the Spider Valve offers, but the R30 is great for low volume tube amp tones.
I emailed Egnater about the tonal differences between rebel and renegade...all they said was that the rebel is voiced more for blues and classic rock and renegade is better for heavier stuff..
I play blues and classic rock...so will the rebel be enough for me?
I remember you said something about the renegade sounding better...could you explain a bit?
Im willing to spend the extra 200 bucks for the renegade but the thing is...rebel is lighter and the 1-30 watt thing is great.
Don't get me wrong, the Rebel 30 is a stellar amp. It's more versatile than anything in that price range and sounds better than just about everything else. I, personally, just like the voicing of the Renegade a little more. It sounds more refined and more expensive. Keep in mind, I was able to a/b the two and just preferred the Renegade in a side-by-side shootout. BUT, the R30 is a great sounding amp and should cover all of your needs if you're a blues/rock player.
It depends. The internal speaker is a 16ohm I think (check the manual to be sure) so it should be on 16ohm in normal operating mode. But if you're also going to add an extra cab, you'd want to use a 16ohm extension cab and then set the switch to 8ohms, since the two cabs together are sharing that speaker load and therefore get halved.
dogmoon.. similar to an earlier post, what problems have you had with the amps, if any? I have been through two Rebel 30s and a Renegade, although Egnater swears the Renegade issue was a tube issue.. the Rebel 30's were both pops and cracks when turning up the volume knobs.. one time on the channel 1 and the second amp, channel 2? just curious.
Interesting- I have had zero problems with any of my Egnaters, except for my MOD50, which is USA made and handbuilt. I'm sorry you've had issues. I know that Bruce and John go to great lengths to make sure the amps are built tough and I know that they also go to great lengths to make sure that customers enjoy hassle free amps. Sorry that you're running into problems, kleinernofiner.
I think the Renegade is a whole lot better than the Rebel in terms of tone. To me, it felt more sturdy and sounded more professional. I would use the Renegade as my only gigging amp for the next 2 years if it were necessary.
I've got the Rebel 20 head with the Tourmaster 2x12 cabinet. I love the tones, but I've always wanted dual channels and reverb. Looks like I'll be trading up.
Do you know of any major differences that I would lose out on going to the 30 from the 20?
Is this amp better than the night train 50 clean and overdrive wise???

wabwabb 1 year ago
@wabwabb
Don't be afraid to turn the knobs to drastic places. If it's muddy with a LP, turn the treble way up and cut the bass way down. Turn on the bright and tight switches.
dognmoon 1 year ago
Hi, I willing to buy the Rebel 30 just for clean channel because I love to use my pedals. What do you think of clean´s 30 with Les Paul?
VelhosNovos 1 year ago
@VelhosNovos
That would sound FAT. Les Paul with the Rebel 30's clean channel would sound really thick and full- a great starting point to use with stompboxes.
dognmoon 1 year ago
I think it sounds like you play in a can, if that is what you defince as clean

Best damn amp I have ever owned! Rock on man
TheUpstreamer 1 year ago
I hate you and your awesome amp.
I had a chance to play this at GC. Only the clean channel worked, but it was easily the best clean I've heard, ever.
homersimps1 1 year ago
@homersimps1
haha, awesome. It's a shame that just the clean channel worked, because the amp has some great tones all the way from clean to scream.
dognmoon 1 year ago
I was at the local GC today and tried out this amp and the tweaker.
I think the reason I liked the rebel 30 better was its reverb which I could get a stand alone unit for.
I'm really having a hard time deciding between the two I like the wattage control on the 30 as well as the added reverb. And on the tweaker I like the Options that actually seem to do what they were designed to and the price
You have mentioned that you used other tubes in your tweaker did it seem to make a large difference?
LainOfTheRealWorld 1 year ago
@LainOfTheRealWorld
Yeah, different tubes in the Tweaker kinda revoices it a little but they don't add any headroom or power difference. EL34's seem glassier and crunchier. 6L6's seem smoother and more refined.
dognmoon 1 year ago
@dognmoon From what I understand power tubes don't really make that much of a difference until you push them into distortion. so for me (bedroom guitarist) I will never know the difference lol. Only thing I kinda liked on the rebel 30 that I wish was on the tweaker is the watts knob, mostly to get more distortion at similar volumes, it is kinda tough using the master volume to where barely moving it makes a huge difference for "bedroom" levels.
LainOfTheRealWorld 1 year ago
@LainOfTheRealWorld
You will definitely hear subtle differences even at lower volumes, but I agree- the most character of the power tubes are gonna come out when they're pushed to overdrive.
dognmoon 1 year ago

Hi there,awesome video and very helpful(sorry for my bad English) i want to ask you a question about rebel 30 head,can i change the tubes with 6L6/EL34?you said that you prefer these tubes than 6V6/EL84 but i can't afford the renegade head or combo.Thanks in advance mate:)
kaychev77 1 year ago
@kaychev77

The Renegade just has a sweeter tone than the Rebel -30 not that the rebal is bad tone just different, Clean and Distortion.
hawg427 1 year ago
@hawg427
I agree that the Renegade is far superior to the Rebel 30. Renegade is a great gigging amp and it CAN get good tones at lower volumes, but it really wants to be played a little louder. If you wanna get great tones at really low volumes, I'd recommend the Tweaker.
dognmoon 1 year ago
I was listening to the audio demos on the Egnater site and comparing the Rebel-30 to the Tweaker. Is it me or does the Tweaker sound better in the distortion side? Everyone is telling me that the Renegade head is overkill for bedroom,livingroom playing.
hawg427 1 year ago
@hawg427
Renegade might be a little loud for the bedroom player, but it's a great gigging amp. The Tweaker doesn't stop impressing me. Egnater's finest small amp.

Man...I had my heart set on a rebel 30, played on in person...then I heard the tweaker and now I'm torn. Which is truly more versatile?

how would you compare this one to the rebel 20?
orestispetrakis 1 year ago
@orestispetrakis
Similar, but bigger, more options, and the channels seem a little on the darker side. I much prefer the Tweaker if you're looking for a single-channel Egnater these days.
dognmoon 1 year ago
Send me your comments.
hawg427 1 year ago
@hawg427
Me neither!! haha :)

Weird question - what gauge strings do you use? Are they heavier gauge - 11s or bigger?
I've enjoyed all your videos - very well done and useful to the product you're speaking to.
dmock66 1 year ago
@dmock66
I used 11's for a few years but have since gone back to 10's. Funny, though, this green Anderson in the video is strung with 9's because I had to do a recording of a satriani tune and I wanted the strings to be really easy and slinky.
dognmoon 1 year ago
@dognmoon Out of curiousity - what amp are you using now? I've seen your videos on most all of the current Egnater line - just curious which one you've settled on.
dmock66 1 year ago
@dmock66
I have always been an Egnater MOD50 user. But I just put that up for sale and will be using the Tweaker for live stuff.

@dognmoon What is the "Tweaker" that you are referring to??
B0sc0e 1 year ago
@B0sc0e
It's a brand new amp from Egnater. It just came out last month. Single channel with lots of different sounds. Probably my favorite of the latest Egnaters.

it sounds really nice but i wish SOMEONE would come out with a low wattage combo or head that is a 2 channel footswitchable amp with fender cleans and Plexi distortion. i know that may sound rediculous but it would really be the best of both worlds. i was considering the orange tiny terror but it's distortion just seems to fuzzy to me and it's only one channel. if anyone knows of an amp that is similar to what im asking then lemme know. the blackstar ht5 is a possiblity but too low wattage

the rebel is a 112?

The ckeans are more like Bassman cleans. Kinda fat. Not really blackface fender sparkle. Yeah, it's a 1x12 combo.
dognmoon 1 year ago
Which one has more gain and would suit better for trash and modern metal?
Should I go for the Rebel 30 head or the Renegade? I play home and in studio most of the time so I need compression and gain at low volume as well!
Thanks for your help
guitaroman76 2 years ago
The Renegade will get you closer, but it's louder than the Rebel and it will be harder to get it down to bedroom volumes and still sound great. I don't think either one will get you into the modern metal amount of gain. You might need a stompbox in front.
dognmoon 1 year ago
Maybe you answered this already, but just curious, why did you get the Rebel 30 and the Renegade, aren't they very similar in terms of tone (I know the Renegade is more wattage). Thanks, great demo.
fmarkow 2 years ago
He's apparently affiliated with a music store or someone who works at one, so they loan him amps to demo.
revelinabandon 2 years ago
Actually, revelinabandon, I do some side-work for Egnater here and there and they compensate me in amplifiers. BUT, I'm a huge fan of the amps, so it works to my advantage. It's like a guy who loves burgers working at Burger King. :)
dognmoon 1 year ago
The Rebel 30 and Renegade are similar in that they both come from Egnater and will therefore sound like they came from the same maker. But the Rebel 30 has a darker clean channel and a little more Classic rock grit on the drive channel. The Renegade is more versatile in terms of switching, boosts, and channel switching. I think the Renegade is one of the best amps in the lineup. BUT, I just got a few Tweakers from them (a new amp) and it has become my new favorite.
dognmoon 1 year ago
Tom Anderson Guitarworks makes pickups that are quite bright sounding.
knikk77 2 years ago
Yeah, some people argue that they're too "hi-fi" sounding, but I like the extra bit of articulation.
dognmoon 1 year ago
Yes, me too. But in a live situation, they can be pearcing, forcing you to turn down the tone knob.
knikk77 1 year ago
Fer sure. I agree.
dognmoon 1 year ago
I tried this out next to a Tiny Terror and the clean was incredible and blew away the TT's ability to do clean but the gain channel sounded like it was blanketed (ie dark) compared to the TT. No matter what I did to the EQ and such I couldnt' get as hi fi sounding as the TT. Is this consistent with your experiences? It does sound similar to what I heard in your video, but that's just the camera mic, right?
toelessfoot 2 years ago
I got this amp recently and it is really fucking feature packed. However, as you say, the gain channel is sort of a fat bluesy sound. I like to play alot of distorted heavier sounding metal though, so I just throw a pedal on the front end. Most guitarists play around with alot of effects anyway, in order to tailor make the sound they like.
TT's sound raw, but they're a 1 trick pony really. This amp has SO much going for it. Effects loop, variable wattage, tube mix, and brother is it LOUD!!
revelinabandon 2 years ago
Yeah, the TT is kinda known for that scrapey, high fidelity crunch drive. It cuts through a mix really well. The Rebel will always sound a little fatter by comparison, but there are places where each would be desirable. In terms of versatility, though, there's really no contest. The Rebel has so much to offer.
dognmoon 1 year ago
WHOA is that first guitar a tom anderson...if it is, NICE!
B0B0damonkey 2 years ago
It is! I have since added a middle pickup so I can also get conventional strat sounds too.
dognmoon 2 years ago
@dognmoon when i looked at it, it looked like something was missing but i bet now that you added that pickup it look better and will be able to get some cool sounds.
B0B0damonkey 2 years ago
@dognmoon Hey Man Nice Ax, what's the exact make and model. Outstanding!
CRAM1REZ51 2 years ago
That particular one is a Tom Anderson Classic. It's about 15 years old. Basswood body and the neck is extra fat. In this video, it's just two pickups with a 3-way switch, but I went back and had Tom cut a hole for the 3rd pickup and change the switch to a 5-way. The little mini-toggle-switch in front of the 5-way splits the humbucker for single coil tones.

I just want to say Thanks. I have been searching for a great amp for sometime and could never decide on the right one. After seeing your demo I knew I had to have this one and it is now on the way. Great demo and info.
GrooviRIch 2 years ago
Hey man, great demo! One of the really few out there and by far the best. I am into that amp but I am really into direct out recording, would it be okay if I ask you few questions about it? Mainly if I can crank the tubes up and still not have my line in levels jump to the red zone immediately...
FenixBG 2 years ago
You would just need to mind the trim levels (input levels) on your console or recording interface. I have tracked with the direct outs once (for a Farmers Insurance commercial) and it sounded great.

hey dude , great demo, and nice playing, i wanna get this egnater rebel but im wondering if it...can produce a mark tremonti sound ( creed , alter bridge)??
sid17391 2 years ago
It can do heavy rock but you'll probably need a stompbox to get as heavy as the Creed stuff.
dognmoon 2 years ago
Thanks for the great demos, really nicely done with very helpful commentary. Actually better than the guys who work in the guitar department of the local big chain music store! One question; would you say, considering the tube config of the two amps, that the Renegade's el34s with gain applied have more of a Marshall feel in regards to tone and response and the Rebel's el84s are more Vox-like? I'm looking for a kind of Brit-pop/post punk sound in a small package.
TheDeadknots 2 years ago
I think that's a good assessment. The Rebel has a tube-mix knob, though so you can split between a VOX ac15 and a fender deluxe. And the Renegade has both 6L6 and EL34 for a big Fender or Big Marshall sound. Both are great amps, though. I just prefer the Renegade.
dognmoon 2 years ago
Man I want to get one of these, put my GNX3000 in the loop for effects, and stick an OCD or something in front of it to go over the top with gain.

Great video btw.
Sturgie35 2 years ago
The SV112 is a cool amp, but I agree, it needs to be cranked to really shine. The rebel does GREAT at low volumes, and actually has a silent/direct out that sounds great too. I've tracked sessions with the direct outs and they sounded nice and warm. Unfortunately, you lose all of the effects and versatility that the Spider Valve offers, but the R30 is great for low volume tube amp tones.
dognmoon 2 years ago
I emailed Egnater about the tonal differences between rebel and renegade...all they said was that the rebel is voiced more for blues and classic rock and renegade is better for heavier stuff..
I play blues and classic rock...so will the rebel be enough for me?
I remember you said something about the renegade sounding better...could you explain a bit?
Im willing to spend the extra 200 bucks for the renegade but the thing is...rebel is lighter and the 1-30 watt thing is great.
ur opinion ?
antimage27 2 years ago
Don't get me wrong, the Rebel 30 is a stellar amp. It's more versatile than anything in that price range and sounds better than just about everything else. I, personally, just like the voicing of the Renegade a little more. It sounds more refined and more expensive. Keep in mind, I was able to a/b the two and just preferred the Renegade in a side-by-side shootout. BUT, the R30 is a great sounding amp and should cover all of your needs if you're a blues/rock player.
dognmoon 2 years ago
what do you set the ohm switch to in the back of the combo?
MoneyPieBoy 2 years ago
It depends. The internal speaker is a 16ohm I think (check the manual to be sure) so it should be on 16ohm in normal operating mode. But if you're also going to add an extra cab, you'd want to use a 16ohm extension cab and then set the switch to 8ohms, since the two cabs together are sharing that speaker load and therefore get halved.
dognmoon 2 years ago
thanks.
MoneyPieBoy 2 years ago
dogmoon.. similar to an earlier post, what problems have you had with the amps, if any? I have been through two Rebel 30s and a Renegade, although Egnater swears the Renegade issue was a tube issue.. the Rebel 30's were both pops and cracks when turning up the volume knobs.. one time on the channel 1 and the second amp, channel 2? just curious.

Interesting- I have had zero problems with any of my Egnaters, except for my MOD50, which is USA made and handbuilt. I'm sorry you've had issues.
