  • I'd actually be surprised if more directors didn't start putting their own movies in their favorite films lists. Artists can be so masochistic, constantly feeling that they're "not worthy" to be put on lists with other directors. One should feel proud of their work at the end of the day, otherwise why keep doing it? After all, it's all subjective anyway. There's no such thing as a "greatest ever" when it comes to art.

  • How is it "retarded" to have difficulty with a thick immigrant accent?, irai? Not all of us have your "gift" for deciphering such things.

  • John Woo rules and I support any list that includes lawrence of arabia, the wild bunch, the godfather, and seven samurai. I usually hate it when people include their own films but it's usually for a film coming out soon or in theaters so including face off doesn't bother me at all.

  • Who the fuck puts their own film in the list?

  • 1:18 no shit :D

  • Are you allowed to put your own movie in your Top 5?

  • John Woo could put a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in his Top 5 and I would be ok with it.

  • @jkshrout131 yes.

  • "I could never make a movie like 'The Godfather'"

But he already has! (The Killer)

  • Dear Rotten Tomatoes,

I'm pretty sure John Woo is speaking English here.Subtitles not needed.

    Love,

    the entire English speaking world.

  • Lawrence of Arabia is the greatest movie ever made.

  • why the fuck are they using subtitles here, you can understand what he is saying perfectly

  • @CoyoteSnider because some people can understand as well because English isn't their main language and they didn't want someone to get confuse

  • He should pick Hard Boiled and The Killer as his favorite films...who cares if he made them, they are so good.

  • John Woo is awesome!

  • @robaquarian you must be fucking retarded. it is an insult to compare john woo to michael bay. apologize right now.

  • @robaquarian his plot makes more sense and he doesn't fuck cast members

  • I think it's a bit rude to put subtitles for John Woo. You'd have to be pretty retarded not to be able to understand him.

  • @irai1984

Even the fact that they were able to write subtitles shows that they could understand him.

  • @irai1984 Or simply have difficulty deciphering a thick accent. Would it be better for us not to be able to understand what the man is saying?

  • @SuperTonyony If his english was good enough to direct several films in the US, then perhaps you need to practice listening.

  • That was pretty gangstah that he picked his own film in the TOP 5.

  • top 5

    Halloween 1

    Halloween 2

    Halloween 3

    Halloween 4

    Halloween 5

    RIP AKKAD

  • My Top 5 Films at the moment

    1. Ikiru (Kurusawa's most human film)

    2. Le Samourai (a Alain Delon masterpiece and Woo's inspiration for THE KILLER)

    3. Stalker (Andrej Tarkowsky's film is a philosophical monument...)

    4. The roaring 20's (love James Cagney and a epic picture of the 1920s)

    5. Malcolm X (Spike Lee's most epic film and denzels best performance)

  • Kurosawa is one the greatest filmmakers in my opinion as well.

  • Oh my god. I loved A Better Tomorrow.

  • John Woo is my favorite filmmaker, but strictly because of his Hongkong creator period. He's a very sympatic fellow for me, he never reacts angry and always stays balanced. The Seven Samurai, as his all-time favorite is not a surprise, he tells in many interviews how Kurosawa's hero-ethos influenced him, it's enought to watch The Killer. Adding Face/Off (the only one fine Woo-work in the States) is not self-glamorizing, he just expresses that he finally hadn't have to adapt someone else's style.

  • Current TV is an independent media company led by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore.

  • yeah seven samurai lol do you guys remember that really clumsy samurai that really sucks but ends up surviving through all sorts of mayhem lol the very first JarJar haha

  • that was awesome

  • i knew that he was gonna pick seven samurai

  • Seven Samurai is one of my favorite films too.

  • @greenmarcosu same here

  • @green akira kurosawa is a master

  • Thank you very much for this.

  • woot!
