Reminded my of the songs Gene Pittney recorded with George Jones. In thoses days, there was a real line between country pop. So it took something real special for a pop singer to make it with a country hit. Most did not even try. Pittney, Elvis, Orbison, and Robbins were among the few that could command respect in both markets. I thought I had heard all of Bobby Vee's records, but had never heard his version of this country classic. Great!

Recorded in 1962 but not released until four years. Liberty was trying everything to get a hit out of Bobby, but I don't think releasing a country 45 and then not promoting it was the right choice!
