Heres education. Its not smoke its vapor caused by water, honey glycerin (like glycerin in a fog machine) and heat. Your not burning your baking so their is no Carbon monoxide. Nicotine is kept to a min. because coals heat to 350-450F(and the head of the hookah is maxed at 350F with 450F coals) while nicotines boiling point it appx. 477F. Yes I know nicotines vaporizing point is slightly lower than the boiling thats why you get any nicotine at all. Min. of 800F to get tobacco to produce tar.

So the levels would be minimal and the water might help filter them out. Part of the problem is the lack of studies on hookah smoking. There just isn't enough data. So people jump on these studies and "see smoking hookah is bad for you!". Yes is bad for you, the question is how bad. I enjoy my hookah. So for me it's worth the health risks.
are the people who run this new network idiots... i have owned a hookah for almost 1 year. and smoke it once every 2 weeks or so. i have tried cigarettes AFTER i tried shisha in a hookah. and the cigarette is MUCH HARSHER on the esophagus than the shisha. yes each session may last 2 hours or more, but there is NO TAR, .05% nicotine, compared to a cigarette which has .5% nicotine, and cigarettes have over, what, 600 700 ingredients, shisha has only 6-8, tobacco, honey, glycerin, nicotine, flavor.

But based on my experiences as both a cigarette smoker and a hookah smoker; it seems to me that cigarettes are worse for me than shisha. I have smoked cigarettes out of water pipes. The smoke was harsh. The sugar in shisha plus the lower temp of burning seems to make a big difference. Hookah isn't harmless, but it probably wont impact your health the way cigarettes do.

Tar burns at 600+ degrees. The hookah bowl bakes at about 150 degrees. Basically, the nicotine, glycine, and molasses vaporizes. One can get rid of the nicotine by buying washed tobacco or herbal shisha.

Something important between stoges and hookah is that stoge (cigarettes) tobacco is burned and you are inhaling the combustion of it directly. Since then I've tried cigarettes (which I don't much care for compared to hookah) and I can say that they probably wont give you as much of a buzz a cigarettes, but that's often cause I smoke with friends and we do puff, puff, pass. The fact is, it's tobacco, it has nicotine, and smoking is bad for you. I smoking hookah. So I am willing to take the risks to my health. But, the cigarettes probably harm me more than my hookah ever will. I get sick of all the anti-hookah propaganda. But I am also sick of the "it's not bad for you" angle too.

ok i read the description. and it says that it contains carbon monoxide tar and heavy metals.... that is BULLSHIT... I have packages of shisha and by FEDERAL LAW you must list the ingredients of any consumable product and it DOES NOT contain metals. get your facts right and do some research or don't do a report on it at all.

@jmac530 They don't have to list ingredients on cigarettes. The only heavy metals that would be present in shisha are any naturally found in tobacco. So the levels would be minimal and the water might help filter them out. Part of the problem is the lack of studies on hookah smoking. There just isn't enough data. So people jump on these studies and "see smoking hookah is bad for you!". Yes is bad for you, the question is how bad. I enjoy my hookah. So for me it's worth the health risks.

are the people who run this new network idiots... i have owned a hookah for almost 1 year. and smoke it once every 2 weeks or so. i have tried cigarettes AFTER i tried shisha in a hookah. and the cigarette is MUCH HARSHER on the esophagus than the shisha. yes each session may last 2 hours or more, but there is NO TAR, .05% nicotine, compared to a cigarette which has .5% nicotine, and cigarettes have over, what, 600 700 ingredients, shisha has only 6-8, tobacco, honey, glycerin, nicotine, flavor.

@jmac530 and some preservatives. and in the fact that cigarettes burn and shisha is charred. it is therefore MUCH LESS harmful than one cigarette. charring and burning are two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT aspects of the way it is smoked the water however is only there to act as a cooling agent for the smoke so it is less harmful as far as irritation to the esophagus; but it is still harmful to an extent but as far as overall. i would much rather see everyone smoke a hookah with shisha than cigarettes.

But based on my experiences as both a cigarette smoker and a hookah smoker; it seems to me that cigarettes are worse for me than shisha. I have smoked cigarettes out of water pipes. The smoke was harsh. The sugar in shisha plus the lower temp of burning seems to make a big difference. Hookah isn't harmless, but it probably wont impact your health the way cigarettes do.

@fbebeats it does not become water vapor... the heat from the smoke does not contain enough energy to cause the ice water to boil (thus converting liquid water to "water vapor") The bubbling in the water is not it boiling it is merely the smoke passing through. The water merely cools it down, nothing else. I'm all for hookah and agree that it is much safer than smoking cigarettes. I just wanted to clear up this one misconception that almost every other hookah fanatic has.

cigarettes are processed, burned at over 700 degrees which produces tar, and has all that added cancer causing shit and what not, hookah is baked and does not reach over 350 degrees. Its is filtered through water which is way better than a cigarette filter. Blow a cigarette hit through a tissue and then a hookah hit and see what leaves a brown stain, not the hookah. well the water gets rid of all the solid waste like tar, if any is in the shisha, which i dont think their is becuz the shisha does not burn hot enuff to produce tar. Anyway, the only real dangers are inhaling smoke which is bad in anyway,shape, or form, and inhaling carbon dioxide gas with the smoke. Other than that those reports put out by so called experts are, in my opinion, highly exaggerrated. There only arguement is comparing smoke volumes. Its comparing apples to oranges.

Something important between stoges and hookah is that stoge (cigarettes) tobacco is burned and you are inhaling the combustion of it directly. Hookah is however heated to a degree which is ALOT less harmful for your lungs. Add this to the fact that if you use natural coals, its better for your body than lighting a cigarette with a lighter.

Any smoking is unhealthy. This demonizing articles about hookah are so bogus. I've been a hookah smoker for years. There is no addicting aspect to them. I've gone months without smoking, and other times, mere days. Hookahs are generally MUCH safer than any cigarette, or cigar. their levels of nicotine (None, for shisha), and tar (0.4% in a 124g jug of shisha) are no compairison. Not to meantion Shisha is chemical free. These ads are so BOGUS!

There is some risk to smoking hookah, but i know for a fact that it doesn't have as big of an risk as smoking straight from a cigarette. Plus, cigarettes have additives that make it more addictive, as where hookah is just pure tabacco, molasses and glycerin, which glycerin is found in those new e-cigarettes that they have now. Also, with a hookah you don't need to inhale to enjoy the flavor, hookah is just a form of relaxation with friends and family, it is made for taste and enjoyment.

It can. I noticed it a lot more when I first started. Since then I've tried cigarettes (which I don't much care for compared to hookah) and I can say that they probably wont give you as much of a buzz a cigarettes, but that's often cause I smoke with friends and we do puff, puff, pass. So you get a break for the buzz to wear off.
