@t0t0po It's not that much off historically, though, because even though the Mig21 was lagging behind and is considered a 3rd gen fighter, it was for a fairly long time the main adversary for the F16. Remember that the Migs were phased in later. In fact, it's been that way most of the time. The west (read US) developed a new gen. fighter and then the soviet designed something designed to match it. And it took some time to catch up.

@knupps I agree with both of you. It s a very beautiful video ( and i've no artistic talent whatsoever )... But the Hud is so haaaargh ! -Especially compared to the rest. And the choices of planes... Why not an x wing ( with candles to light the cockpit ) against the wright flyer ? :p

@aumi20 You are wrong. The SR71 can not be compared to the F-16 or the F-15 ACTIVE. The SR71 is a reconnaissance plane and does not carry any weapons. It is not a fighter jet. Meanwhile if you are comparing the F-15 ACTIVE and the F-16, assuming the F-15 ACTIVE had the same weapon systems as the F-15C, the F-16 will very likely lose the engagement.

Nosferatuonline is write, mig 21 is 3. gen fighter and f 16 is 4.gen fighter, so it is hard to compare them(if this is mig 21 mf or somthing like that) , but you can compare mig 21 93, or mig 21lancer, or mig 21 2000 with f 16., they are 21st century fighters and how much iv read, they are even better then f 16. but it depense of a lot of things.

nice vid, but cm'on .... have you lost it completely? F-16 is a fourth gen plane while the MiG-21 is a third gen plane. You can't compare them, just like you can't compare the Su-27 with the F-4 Phantom.

It was a training session, learning to animate and using z_depth files to make a DOF added in After Effects. Not a historicly correct animation. Could not find a MIG 29 Poser model so I had to use the one I had.

@Nosferatuonline Several years ago, the Croatian pilots (MiG-21) shot down American pilots (f-16) in a friendly training so yes i think that he can compare it.

Might be. But the 21-93 will kick the F-16'ss ass. If it fires a R-77 (Amraamski, russian Amraam Counterpart) and it goes active on the Falcon, it's FUCKED. NOt to speak of the immense thrust the 21-93 has.

Other than that, thats just pretty unfair.

@Nosferatuonline It´s a duel that would be very possible even today, and don´t understimate an upgraded Mig-21. It´s not as weak as you would think, check for the newsest J-7 versions and the Mig-21-93 or the Mig-21 2000 and the Mig-21 LanceR upgrades.
