  • Woww!

I've admired Dan for some time now via StewMac but had no idea of his and your past!

Imagine if Iggy had decided to get out front while with the P Movers - who knows what kind of band it may have become!

Thanks for sharing your great history

  • Dan playing one of my Les Pauls..Sweet...This is the 59' Les Paul that he sold to me and then to Mike Bloomfield....:)

    Blakley Court!!!!!!

Charging Rhinoceros of Sound and the Prime Movers House...

  • Love yor energy. Just listened to Michael speak at the Ann Arbor library. Great presentation! Thank u all so much for leading the way & for in your way helping to make the great Ann Arbor Blues festivals happen. I like the Sam Lay autograph on Osterberg's drums. So, he really learned the double shuffle.... Kudos to him!

  • small world, eh??

    love your connections!!!!!

    are most meaningful!!!!!

  • This Band is so perfect... I love these guys... (=

  • Damn, I wish I could remember the street layout of downtown Ann Arbor. I remember Jimmy Jones takin me to a downtown bar and listening to the Prime Movers. We were underage, but we got served and we flicked out cigarette ashes in our beer [to be cool]. Circa '65, Jimmy introduced me to the "Marine Band" soaked in water and the "Nighthawk Blues" of Charlie Musselwhite. I had one lesson with Dan Erlewine; taught me some shuffle of Little Walter's. Those were indeed, good years.

  • Was the downtown bar called Mr. Flood's Party? Those were the days, my friend.

  • No. I remember Mr. Flood's Party well and there was some good music there at times. This was a little dive "black" bar, but I'll be damned if I can remember the street. Best I can remember is that it would have been on the [then] northern edge of downtown; within blocks of Floods.

  • Hey moutainrt,

The joint was Clint's Club...my brother played drums for PMBB when I was about 13(for a little while) he took me in there one night when he was playing with The Prime Movers...I sat at the bar and had to duck when the bartender pulled his gun on a rowdy patron...that was my introduction to blues!

  • How about The Arc, Blind Pig, Mothers? I was born and raised in Ann Arbor. Left there when I was 22, now I am 61. I can't remember the street layout much anymore either. Dan and Michael were both acquaintences friend of mine as we hungout with some of the same people. I was a good friend of Ron Asheton back in the mid 60's. He was the guitarist with The Stooges and unfortunately passed away not long ago. I also went to school with Jim, better known as Iggy Pop. Great memories!

  • Good stuff. There were SO MANY good acts in the 60s playing blues.Too bad the current bar-band scene is so lame.

  • boss

  • awesome stuff

  • j.o. had great muscle definition even then. i guess drummers do. these nice long leisurely videos are a treat.

  • Thanks again, Michael, for bringing it all back. Pure magic! L.C.
