  • One of `. THE most beautiful songs ever written and performed.. !!!!!!!!!

  • "If you're gonna stay home today, you can help me shave my armpits" - Theresa Merritt, you will always be Juanita to me. Glad i discovered how you are multi-talented. R.I.P. Theresa (Juanita) (:

  • i lovee thissong so muchh<33 xxx

  • i love this song, i love the movie.. i watched it so often..

    and i am 17

    i love her voice :D

  • This is more than singing, this is LIFE, thats right LIFE, see, back then the ups and downs, trials and tribulations that our parents and elders went through, they would pass down to us the knowledge, wisdom, & understanding that they gained from lifes experiences and that added life to us that took heed to it.

IF ONLY WE COULD BRING THOSE DAYS BACK!

Don't ever lose the feelin' of our ol skool, that we have.

  • Such a unique and sensitive song going straight to my heart. Born in a family where parents fought out their personal war for over 35 years, inspite of their children being around, I clung on to this. Because these moments were there, although rare. Still my heart starts to glow after all these years, when I hear this. It's bin long and it still did not loose any of it's power. Brilliant. What a coherence.

  • Thanks for giving me a part of my childhood!!!!! This is the first movie I ever saw!

  • @76Robertson :D My pleasure! ♫♫ ʝαʑ ♫♫

  • that guitar rocks i love this song

  • I love it... Wish it were a little longer. I reminds me of my mother, aunts and grandmothers. I can see the dinner table scene in my childhood memories...just like African Americans did in the 70's. That part about getting mad, you being all you can be... That is MY MOTHER and I guess everyone else who have a mother that wants only the best for her child.

  • @Keonny77 This Albanian-American thanks my African-American sister or brother for what you wrote, and how you wrote it. Tears are running down my cheeks. Today, I'm sick and can't join my family at a memorial being held for my great uncle. A man who helped so many people in our family, in so many ways. I remember watching Diana Ross in the Wiz on TV as a child. This song and scene always reminds me of my grandma gathering us around the table together. How I miss them all.... I'm grateful.

  • I miss these voice. Full of so much personality and feeling..what does it take for the singers of today to embrace the true depth of voice and singing?

  • @DrPhilmobetta I think it may be because they haven't lived long enough yet. A depth of life experience informs a performance such as this. It moves us so deeply because the singer herself is infusing the song with her own profound hurt, joys, fears, hopes and dreams - with a life steeped in decades of life on earth. Today's singers have great talent and soul. We run to this singer and want her to hold us because we know only she can reassure us - she has been there, done that and moved on.

  • I love the background singers and the harmonies!!!!!

  • Beautiful song!!

  • I cry each time I hear this. The scene at the dinner table was alot like my family. I miss that

  • I still watch her "Thats my mama" On TVone! R.I.P.

  • @19832006 I do 2 ;o)

  • Does anybody know where I can get a karaoke like version?

  • That was an all star chorus singing in the background. Written by Ashford and Simpson. You can hear Valerie in the first Chorus and Luther, Cissy Houston, James Ingram and many many more blowing in the background!!
