Dude that is like comparing the first computer to Watson (IBM Supercomputer). The context of technology between the two is too great to make a rational discussion but MGS as a series is a great story.
@macro312 I liked the aim of the story though, it shows a different side of snake. Big boss is a walking travesty, really gave us insight as to the backstory which in my book is epic enough. Hello, its the rise of big fucking boss =|
Great music from a great game, why the hell hasnt this series spawned a movie yet?? Hitman, Res Evil, and Doom all got movies, and havnt even been around as long. Hideo and Hollywood need to start talkin.
lol all three of those games got shitty movies made out of them. RE1 doesn't make up for the suckage that is RE2 & 3. Plus, those three games didn't have hard stories to tell. Each of the MGS games are like 3 summer blockbusters in one.
lol because the script has to be like perfect for Kojima to accept. I mean each of the MGS games are fairly long and the cutscenes run a tad bit longer than most movie style dramatic scenes. Still, i vote make a movie. A crappy movie is still a movie. I mean with that said where is Ghostbusters 3? and why are there so many police academies and american pies that i lost count of? lol
Ghostbusters and all the others you mentioned have always been movies first. MGS is a game thats been around for quite a while, longer than Tomb Raider, amassed quite a following, has a very deep story, especially for a game. This needs to be a movie, Hideo has no excuses now. Plus a movie will add to the game franchises appeal anyway, look a Res Evil.
i know wht u sayin bro lol just noting another film that I wanted to come out and how so many franchises get new sequels, why can't new ones come about like MGS or Castlevania as well as old ones like GB
Just guess we have to wait and see. In terms of classic movies getting sequels, GB should have had a third movie in the 90s, and they know it. How can they just stop at 2 films? No successful movie stops at just Two films. When they come to make a 3rd, Im all for shall we say, "new recruits," as long as the old legends are still in it. To give the film some weight, otherwise it would just feel like a pointless sequel.
Yep, the Extreme Ghostbusters played on that new recruits idea and got cancelled after one season(of course they ran 40 eps. lol). They def made a mistake by not going on with the GB franchise. Yea, the second one got mixed reviews but most of the negative remarks were due to the sucess of the first one. However, there are times when it's for the better. Look at Godfather. G1=masterpiece. G2=regarded as the best sequel ever. G3=well, you get the idea. This one wasn't too great.
Yeah most sequels never match their predecessors, but I dont know what the fuss was bout GB2, It was more or less the same as the first one. And yeah, 3rd sequels are always the weakest. But I consider GF3 to be quite good, kind of wrapping up the saga. Its Inevitable Ghostbusters will make a comeback, remakes or follow on movies seem to be quite frequent at the mo, especially films/Tv shows from the 70s and 80s
If you'd have read the books you'd know that there is a pretty deep and cool story behind RE. But youre right, each MGS game are like WTFOMGTHISISAWSOMEGIMMEMOREOMGILOVEITOMFGMGSFOREPICNESS! O_O'
@RaikenXion: From what I understand, even though David Hayter HIMSELF wrote a screenplay for Metal Gear Solid, Hideo said that the budget suggested wouldn't be enough. And besides, how the hell could a movie be any better than playing through the epic story itself?
@OneTrueBelmont Untill I see them take the Metal Gear franchise in a whole new direction that no one would expect, all I can see left for this classic is a movie, if done right and not made purely to appeal to kids. Something with the cleverness of lost or 24, but with the pace of the Bourne films. But I guess that would never happen, I can still dream though.
I remember first getting the game when I was in 5th grade, playing it all weekend and coming back to school with blistered thumbs from the beating the torture scene lol.
I kept my PS2 (my PS1 died...) just so I could play this series and Castlevania SOTN. Hell, even better, MGS was actually the first console game I ever owned.
Escape by far the best one here in MY opinion. has little bits of Encounter also. TTS fucked up by not putting either of them on there, which was the bread and butter of the music in mgs1. theres no tension in getting caught and no tension in the escape part either.
I'm not sure I'd agree with that... I think the shift in tension was more onto the gameplay, relying less on the music. Don't tell me that running from the super-smart guards in TTS wasn't intense. The guards in MGS1 are retarded by comparison.
Full on Agree with you. Especially when you came to the Stairway climb to fight Liquid. On MGS the original it was Bread and butter to just continously throw Stun Grenades. On TTS.. that shit got annoying because they gave the stun grenade actual range.. and the bastards would always be shooting your or kicking you.. I was reluctant to finish that area in one shot on Extreme mode.
thats it soo much memories... one of my favorites and one of the best strategy games ever.. and its worth to let sometimes the enemy to see you just to hear the music :P
My bad. I do still wish more music like this was added though. You've probably already made up your mind, but still, just throwing that out there--Some brawl tracks are too good to be ignored.

I am sorry i think Metal Gear Solid 3 has a better Storyline, better Boss Fights, better music ( well ok not better music )
And the graphics man Metal Gear Solid 3 had some of the Best graphics for the PS 2 only Resident Evil 4
and Final Fantasy X had better graphics

@Zappafan1980 Metal Gear Solid is from 1998 you can't compare the graphics..

O. K. then i compare Metal Gear Solid 1 The Twin Snakes from 2004 for the Nintendo Gamecube
and Metal Gear Solid 3 from 2004
AND its still better in my oppnion Plus MGS 3 is a MUUCH longer game
Its not like i hate Metal Gear Solid 1 i just think Metal Gear Solid 3 is 3 x better
MGS 3 had some the best boss fights i ever played in my Life

In a Later comment i compared Metal Gear Solid the Twin Snakes for the Nintendo Gamcube and Metal Gear Solid 3
To bring the graphics on the same Level, And i still like Metal Gear Solid 3 A LOT more
Its a bigger longer game, it has a much better story, and the Bossfights are some of the most memorable in video game history
I even love MGS 3 more then 4 even though 4 has better graphics

Hello Kitty Island Adventures
MGS2...lawl
