How do I handle being out in high school?

While I was watching this video, something occurred to me that I hadn't thought of before. I'm already out of high school, so this advice is for viewers still in it. The people in high school will only be in your life for a certain amount of years. They will not follow you throughout your whole life, so letting people determine who you are and what you do when you may not see them out of high school is not a good way to live. Even if people judge you in hs, it won't matter once you graduate.

I've decided to come out, and I'm actually feel really good about it. My friends and I have talked about being gay and they don't care (we'll talk about anything) and I know my family are going to be cool with it. Some people aren't going to like it (I go to an all-girls school, so most people are at least a bit homophobic) but I know most people will be too cowardly to say anything, so they'll just stew in their uncomfortable curiosity lol

what your saying about making a much bigger deal than it is seems so true to me, i came out to the first time to my best friend a few days ago and i even had an inner speech prepared for what i would tell people, he was surprised sure, with me hiding it and even faking about some things i like/dislike but he was completely fine with it and made me seem how much i was going over the top with worring about what people will think when i go completely public. I think you give some great advice, ^^

I told my friends a while back that i liked girls. and here i am, two years later. with the same friends c: and a wonderful girlfriend! i am sooo thankful that i have wonderful friends. then again we are different from other people xD we're the "weird group" in school. but almost everyone is nice to us in our grade. and even some people who i didnt think would accept me, did! c: so im happy. and jenna. you are amazing! i look up to you so much. ^^

I've always identified myself as queer but I've never really thought it was a big deal or felt the need to 'come out'. I didn't have much trouble in high school but in my last year of junior high a close friend 'found out' from another friend of mine that I was queer and she confronted me. She thought I'd been dishonest because I hadn't told her and that I should have because she wasn't comfortable with it.

I told my friends I am pansexual. It was difficult. It is my senior year and I lost all 6 of my 7 close friends. They were the only people I knew since I moved here. I couldn't believe these people I believed were my best friends were completly messed up about it. I thought it wouldn't matter. But, at least I found out they weren't worth it. I am happy I am okay with myself because they don't deserve my friendship.
