Nice video and you did good job showing how to so some of the more involved techniques of punching openings through walls.
However, I must help you correct some of your comments for serious designers. Good 3D models are (or should be) dimensionally correct to the last fractional inch. Unless your client is willing to pay for custom windows/doors, the design must fit to the standards. Scaling doors to fit holes also scales hardware which can't happen in reality.
@dannyfixit07 That's a very good point, and if you're doing this professionally you certainly need to pay more attention to those details. However, for a learning exercise or personal project like this, fudging an inch here or there is fine :)
@ddredo The Space Navigator that I'm using isn't free, but it's fairly inexpensive considering what it allows you to do. If you do a lot of modeling it's certainly a worthwhile investment.
Excellent......I would like to hear you giving just a few more tidbits of info, that is, mentioning what keyboard shortcuts you are using to select any of the commands you choose. That would be even more helpful. I couldn't see if you were on a mac or a pc, which do you use? Thank you many times over !!
@donluke578 I can certainly mention shortcuts more! If you watch some of the earlier videos where I'm covering the basics of SketchUp, I talk about keyboard shortcuts a lot. I use a Mac, but the PC and Mac versions of SketchUp are almost identical.
All through the video I was like, "How is he flying around like that?" As soon as you started talking about the SpaceNavigator I was sold. I went straight to Amazon and bought one. If it works as advertised, you have accomplished marketing at its finest. You had me hooked on the product before I even knew what the product was.
great work mate.

How do you edit the door in terms of changing color etc?
Fr33Styla00 3 months ago
@Fr33Styla00 You can change the color or texture of the door by using the Bucket tool, which I talk about in episode #17.
