  • ... it's a mad dog's promenade.

  • It's midnight in Manhattan this is no time to get cute"

  • i love this song

  • this is just incredible....

  • This song has captured perfectly the ambience of Manhattan of certain periods between 3AM and 4:30AM with all its wondrous happy, sad, kaleidoscopic, mind blown, substance infused,, faith filled haze.

  • I came all the way from London in 2000 to the MSG,he played this one,out of this world.

  • emozionante...

  • la mia canzone preferita. Un capolavoro....tra i tanti

  • Mechemicalromance I would have to agree, although it's hard to say. He wrote so many great songs. This one is though in my top ten. I hope to move to NYC within the year. Absolutely love this song. Very underrated song.

  • The best Springsteen song, bar none. It was stated before but how at age 24 could someone write such an incredibly detailed song? From the violins to the piano solo(s), it is an amazing song to listen to and marvel at.

  • Roy is awesome in this; most underrated member of the band.

  • Yes, "beautiful Clarence Clemons"...

  • I think this is perhaps his finest song

  • easily his greatest "unknown" song. by a mile.

  • Just wandering around, and found this. 54 damn years old and I tear up like a child to hear Springsteen still singin the shit out of this song. Faith, hope and love, baby; walk tall.

  • If you are a real Springsteen fan, you can safely admit to yourself that his first 3 albums are untouchable and beyond legendary. Serenade is easily in my top 5 desert island songs.

  • Interesting, he resembles Kerouac here.

  • I think this song doesn't have a dislike button....one of the best songs ever...

  • this is beyond music

    this is beyond lyrics

    this is beyond a band

this is beyond a natural human

seriously how come he comes out with such masterpieces

  • Springsteen had so many fantastic songs.. so many hits, so many classic songs.. but...... He had only one New York City Serenade.. it has been my favorite since the first time i heard this album in the early 70's It's a mad dogs promenade,,,

  • I was here this night and this song blew my mind! Have loved him since my older sister played him all the time while I was growing up, but had never heard this song... I fell in love with Bruce all over again this night!

  • An unbelievably great version of an unbelievably great piece, truly one of the most beautiful things you could ever want to hear. And Roy does David Sancious's insane intro splendid justice.

  • greatest piece of music ever written.

    period...end of story.

  • it's can't believe he cut out the "oooh" before hook up the night train! It never got any better than The Wild The Innocent

  • this is one of the best songs by him.

  • couldn't agree more!

    The Boss in his best!

  • one of my favorites, no question.

  • The master at work....

  • you can really tell how much this song meant to bruce. unbeliveable emotion, unbelieveable performance.

  • if this was the only song he ever wrote he'd still deserve every bit of adulation he's ever received...i marvel at something this good. it might be the most perfect song i've ever heard.

  • That's Richard Blackwell on the Conga. Rich played on the original recording and Bruce invited him to play it at the Garden that night

  • Legendary!! Hope this will come out on DVD!!

  • One of the best concerts I have been too. Awesome show.

  • wow...wow....wow.... what an amazing performance....wow....

  • Wow wow wow.....wow....

  • best song ever. unbelievable.

  • thanks Bruce from a fellow Bruce. Here in NZ Bruce is a sometimes derided name, if you want to make a joke about a kiwi guy, call him Bruce,...that sort of thing, so Bruce Springsteen is a fine statesman for the name! this track could be a global anthem for all Bruces'. By the way saw the stunning Wanda Jackson live last night here in Auckland NZ. If you ever have the chance to see this 72 yr old queen of rock...GO!

  • It's my birthday and if you are my friend you know how much I love Bruce and NYC. Please watch this and absord how much I dig him and my city he sings about, NYC!

  • How do u write a song like this when your 24 years old...???!

  • @chrisbb33 He was 22

  • @chrisbb33 excellent! He had unbelievable insight at such a young age.

  • This song rips the heart and soul out of me. It's been doing it since I first heard it at 17 years old (1978). Never fails. RIP beautiful Clarence Clemons

  • @chrisbb33 I'm 25. Been trying to since I was 14. Still haven't wrote anything as good as this.

  • @chrisbb33 Agreed, an incredible piece of music

  • masterpiece

  • godlike

  • "so walk tall..... or baby don't walk at all." countless times since i was a teenager I've pushed myself through difficult times by quoting that line to myself.

  • @anastassiades oh yeh, those words, kill me. like dylans, i stood in the dirt where everyone walked. & its the crying in the end that get to me really...i'd sure like to hear a man, face to face, cry like that,,, i want to believe in it....u know>?...

  • meio de dut!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is my favourite song of all time.....

    it's amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[... so walk tall....fish lady fish lady, she baits and tenement walls...]
