I was just happy that charlie brown actually won, I mean he was number 13, the odds were heavily stacked against him and he won, gives me a little hope
Wooow! I watched this episode back in the mid 80s, and now again. I can't tell you just how MUCH nostalgia just hit me! That soundtrack... is mesmerizing!!! And stirred something very dfeep inside of me , do yo know that genious nostalgia feeling? I always thought the picnic scene was like 2 hours long, but in fact, is just 10 seconds long. Wow, as a kid you have a different opinion and feeling about time, what do you think? Where can I get the soundtrack? These jazz synth riffs are awesome!!!!
My trek through ground zero continues. I think the writers are getting more and more impatient and at this point must've run out of good, believable ideas. Much like life's unfairness, just because strange things always happen in the Peanuts
universe is no excuse to overdo it. We got a bunch of kids whom I'm quite sure look and act underage despite their adult-like thinking, along with their dog...taking up motocross racing? Are you serious?
I'm glad to see so many comments praising ine soundtrack for this episode. I agree, it's possibly Guaraldi's best work ever. When I was a kid I had the Read Along Book & Record for this special, and to this day I still play it quite often just for the music. (Though it doesn't have all the themes heard in the whole special.)
I am ashamed to admit I'm crying right now. And I'm fixing to be 38 y/o. At some point even the hopeless blind squirrels find their nut. This is the ONLY time Charlie ever found his. Thank you for this clip.
@U1986NuclearGrounds This is a HUGE win for CB: he not only won, but he was the only 1 who even finished! But, in true Peanuts fashion, no one will remember his triumph, simply because he didn't get the big prize. And there was Snoop, being a huge cheater. Made me glad when he got stuck in the mud
the thing that I found to be the most powerful about this particular episode within the series was the soundtrack. Vince Guiraldi is the man. His synthesized jazz riffs are so thoughtful and serene but at the same time, kind of far out and spacey which makes for the perfect music to drive in the sunshine to. I really wish I could somehow get my hands on the soundtrack to this episode. Vince Guiraldi is a hidden artistic master. When I was a kid I had never herd jazz like this B4.

I'm surprised CB's bike held together as long as it did. Imagine what he could've done with a real bike.
