I Instaled this card on my setup with a Raidmax 530W PSU..When playing COD MW2 it just shut down..I turned it on again but happened the same..then it wont last 5min on windows without a freeze.I think the MOBO its fucked up..The PSU seems to be fine..but i dont know if my CPU or Hard Drive are damaged:
the dell 2209wa is about one of the best LCD panels around. BUT as you notice, the backlight bleed is horrible. this isn't even a gaming monitor as it has a 6ms-8ms(gtg) response time. for on/off it would be 12-16ms response time. that's horrible for gaming. on top of that, it's only 60hz max which is again, horrible for viewing. even 85hz would be a leap and a bound over 60hz. CRT's still outperform every LCD on the market except in slimness. the ghosting looks horrible too.
Man ... your mx5021 sounds good ?? How you rate it? What about is build quality? Because I am planning to buy one ... Also u ever had a chance of comparing them with logitech z2300
I did a lot of research comparing the two before settling on the MX5021s. Main reason? Z2300s make loud booms, but lack depth. I've very happy with the MX5021s. I can see no drawbacks at all. Works great on all ranges. 1st time I used it, I played the sopranos theme song to test it's lows. It sounded so good that I heard a soft whisper saying "deep down" in the song that I hadn't heard before.
Problem is they pretty hard to find..Z2300s...they pretty much dominate the 2.1 PC speaker market.
Thanks for your feedback and I am sorry for the late reply. I bought MX5021. They are far superior to Z2300 ... As you said they had dirty bass when comparing to MX5021
You should still be better if your someone of the PS2 age (personally I grew up with Mario kart on the Snes, and later GT & GTA on the PS2, don't forget Driver for the PS1 either!)
I'm getting it mostly because I do a lot of colour correction work in Photoshop. I'll be using a 4870, you can check out my build here
yeah, i see where you're coming from... driver was an awesome game for it's time, especially how you took damage...always kept you on edge.
still, it takes a little while to get used to a car's handling...especially if you're used to fully speced out cars from NFS Most wanted which turn with relatively small taps.
hehe...yeah...i know i suck in this vid...but as I said, I filmed this on my 1st try playing Undercover
I love the Dell 2209...just make sure you have a decent Gfx card to get the most out of it. Color reproduction, as i'm sure you already know, is it's strongpoint.
I'd only consider replacing it if there was a 120hz model. The 1680x1050 res is perfect for a 22incher.
Really? i didn't have any problems with that...although the framerate did suffer a little when there was a lot of smoke on screen with everything else happening.
TN just does not compare to this eIPS monitor. When I watch movies, it's like I'm watching them on a CRT. I'll never buy another TN monitor for my main monitor since owning this one. TN monitors are still usable.. they have their purpose, but for $180-220 there is no reason not to get this monitor.
are their issues with heat as i've heard the screen gets hot, also is the contrast good. my main use will be games and text stuff, not so much movies.
no heat issues with mine. It is probably cooler than my Dell CRT. The picture is great... You'll probably have to fiddle with the settings. I uploaded a ICC profile from hardforum and used some settings that some people recommended.
I had no heat issues with my Dell 2209WA either...the best thing is that you still get perfect colour even if you're not exactly at the right angle to it...
Heat? no probs...though if you lean in really close to it at the bottom, you'll detect a little heat coming off it.
No regrets yet...I even thought the 22inch might be a little on the small side, but it turns out it's just fine for movies and gaming.
OMG...i just finished the game...what a crappy storyline...i'm finding it hard to belive that this really is a NFS game. Sure, the graphics are good, but this is not worthy of the nfs name....looks like EA is just milking the cashcow...
nice monitor man :)

omg what a horrible backlight bleed in black scenes?
Leopardipzg 2 years ago
heh...it only looks that way on camera. in real life it doesn't look horrible. i'm happy with the lcd.
Honestly, you only appreciate how good the blacks are when you get used to the 2209 and notice the lack of depth in the blacks of other screens.

Yeah...it still impresses me sometimes.
Pair it with a good sound card and it'll sound like a proper home theatre system.
I use the Creative X fi Titanium Fatality sound card.
I was watching Terminator salvation yesterday. It sounded amazing...filled the room with sound with depth. You should try it yourself. :)

NFS is today one of most unrealistic racers
SFFjanni1308 2 years ago
the best part of NFS was always getting into long escapes with cops after you...unrealistic..yes...but fun anyway? absolutely...
it's still the best part of NFS, although somehow it was more enjoyable in Most wanted, rather than Undercover...despite the superior graphics

Its an arcade racing game moron. Of course its not.

I bought this game, but had terrible texture-popping and stuttering throughout, so I ditched it. I ran with an HD 4890, Catalyst 9.5.

is this the e-ips panel? how much was it? and i dont see dell selling it no more
Insomniariz 2 years ago
yes it is the e-ips model. I think it was $410AUD. that's strange...it's appearing just fine on the Australian dell website.
Maybe they don't have stock in your country.

The 720's great. You should have no problems getting it to 3.2 on stock cooler alone. just make sure you do it in the bios, not AMD overdrive.

nice im hoping to get a 720 be as well too.
keyboard driving much?^^
