  • So, If you people say humans are destroying Earth, You're also saying little babies, Little kids are destroying it too? You guys are bastards....

  • I'm a Dodo humans must extinct they hunted us and other birds/mammals etc

  • It's sick to see people say they are not ruining the earth. I suggest you wake up and research what lazy , greedy, humans have done to the earth already.

You don't have to take my word for it.

  • @TheTudiscoKid

We're saying the same thing, only via different ways. And I was making the point that the guy who kicked all this off has no idea what the hell he's talking about.

  • @TheTudiscoKid

No, nature is about competition. Winners stay alive, losers die out. A balance forms, not because different species work together, but because they are 'balanced' in competition. Of course, as evolution doesn't stop the balance keeps getting changed as losers who can't adapt go extinct and new, better species evolve to take their niche in the ecosystem.

Species do not work 'to benefit the Earth', they work because this is how they stay alive. Competition. Selection.

  • Hey, as long as there are aluminium cans, space junk, cosmic probes, radioactive waste and glass bottles, human traces will never dissapear.

Besides, talking about Earth without humans is pointless.

  • @PseudoPoiesis calm your vagina

  • i hate it how humans create thing to destroy each other

and they dont think about creating something to save or help this world

all they care about is fucking war, wtf is up with nuclear bombs go fuck each other somewhere out of this planet. where the fuck is Obama these days! so far he dnnt do shit for this country

  • (every single time I read people's comments at youtube I end up fycking horrified at how stupid humans are.)

  • I am thinking about writing a book titled "The World without Scientific American".

  • @KrazyNomadQc well its a year later did you write that book? :)

  • Too many useless eaters in the post industrial world. Top yourselves, your masters no longer need you. You are excess baggage. Your betters don't need you anymore. Stop wasting O2, the Rothschilds and the British royal family etc don't need so many slaves. Too many humans, top yourself today.

  • Unsubscribing long ago when they first started this is a decision I'm pleased about today.

Voluntary Human Extinction is one heck of an agenda.

I don't expect to see you leading from the front of the line, though, right?

  • this is the gayest video i have ever seen.

  • in the beginning there was the word.... i doubt that the earth would exist without us hehe

  • That's weird. I was just thinking about that this morning and now I've found this video

  • yes look at Antarctica it has never been touched by human hands Expect for Scientists look how beautiful the place is granted its too cold to live in but still look at a content that humans have not ruined how? by HUMANS simply not living there.

Gosh if i could only live in Antarctica just need a few people and it could get warmer then im set lols

  • I am LEGEND.

  • after the human species battled through millions of years of evolution the dominate the planet, most of you are so ungrateful! if a goat had become intelligent enough it would have done everything we had

  • Well yeah we are destroyers of the earth and creators of the war but don't forget the other side of us. We love, we feel, we talk, we enjoy, we make other happy, we have fun. A world without us is a world without color.

  • i want to see a video without human period. Before we fuck up the earth. without caveman, and ect. i was just wondering

  • Woah So This Is How We Died

I Would be Sad If I Was A Dog!!!

  • earth without hominids a paradise a return to eden, the nightmare of centuries ended.

  • if humans go, so would every other life form. if theres something powerful enough to get rid of us then animals wouldnt stand a chance. besides, a world where theres nothing to appreciate it doesnt have much of a point does it?

  • wrong, listen we as hominids suffer from egocentric based hubris thinking the universe revolves around us when the reality is it is just the opposite. the earth does not need us it got on pretty well for billions of years without one single hominid in site. we hang in a very delicate balance any world wide panademic, major asteroid, rise in ocean levels, or any natural catastrophe could wipe us all out in seconds thats a very humbling thought. the world doesnt need anything to appreciate it.

  • you didnt understand me...i mean if theres something that can kill all humans, it will probably take animals with it too. and for the other part, its kind of like a pretty statue in a huge forest, where it will never be seen..theres not really a point of its existence if nothing can look at it and care

  • not really, thats what the point of this video presentation is trying to convey, animales will adapt to extreme circumstances as they have always done becuase humans are compartively weak when compared to the rest of the animal kingdom and who says there isnt something that doesnt look upon existence and care about it?

  • humans are only weak of we dont have tools, but since we do we are the most adaptive species on the planet.. thats why theres some guy living in just about every corner of the earth. we're especially well off if evolution is actually true, but its probably not.

  • evolution is true as true as the earth being round and not flat and the earth not being the center of the universe. science deals with facts based on impericle evidence and there is too much evidence to support evolution. if humans were to survive some sort of world wide cataclysm they would not be the same kind of human beings living today.

  • i dunno about that one..i just think its idiotic that all life came from inanimate objects. until a scientist makes life from objects its bs to me. plus if we really did come from monkeys there would be more than just 1 veriety of human and at least 1 other animal would be somewhat as smart as us.. i dont believe it at all, but i do believe in adaptation, which it probably really is.

  • you dont understand how evolution works and most people dont accept it because they dont understand what evolution is. no scientist has said life came from inatimate objects that subject is open to debate and we did not directly come from monkeys but both primates and humans have a common ancestor. evolution is like the branches of a tree and not a linear sequence of events.

  • i just think that theres too much variety in animals for us all to have come from a common ancestor. theres no ACTUAL proof either..theres no way to test it. its not science its guesswork if anything

  • oh and science does -or did- say we came from inanimate objects...suposedly we came from a bunch of chemicals...yeah, right. and just pretending we did come from a common ancestor (who must have sprang up from nowhere huh?), its highly unlikely that it would make 2 of this mystery life form. evolution is just speculation and fantasy. all there is is adaptation in reality

  • @callowaymotorcompany like i said there is too much evidence to support evolution and every few so years palentologists are uncovering new evidence which point to a common ancestor of man and primates. scientists never say that life sprang up out of nowhere that subject has always been open to debate like i said. the reason there are varities of animales is due to the evolutionary process.

  • people always say 'oh theres tons of evidence' but they never actually find any. if all animals came from 1 there would at least be one advanced animal besides us. also, they did... ever heard of 'primordial soup'? its in textbooks. also, if evolution were true humans would have different dna in different parts of the world, as they suited to their habitat...but they dont. we can look completely different but have the same dna even though 'evolution' has taken effect.

  • @callowaymotorcompany you obviously dont understand what evolution is or how it works i suggest you watch some videos about it thats available here on you tube to get more detailed information.

  • answer to 2:07 : the hippies

  • wow

  • Humans have had there chance to grow, learn, and be part of there world.unfortunately they have let this time pass and earth will get rid of us it will have to.hopefully the next humanoid population(if there is one) will not make our mistakes.

  • there have been good humans just not enough more bad then good im afraid

  • @PsychoticOutburst what are you talking about? your talking as if nature is some kind of entity.

  • wait what did we do o.O?

and i think that humans are very advanced i think we can survive anything

  • not every human how about a planet full of kind peace loving people? no war no racism everyone cares about eachother no greed, money power nothing

  • What would it be like? Watch 'The Quiet Earth'. For any individual survivors, it would be a nightmare. You'd go mad in a month. For the planet, it would be a well deserved rest from centuries of wanton destruction and ill-treatment by the worst species on the Earth, the only one to practise evil, the so-called 'enlightened' human race. (And don't come back with 'oh, whales and monkeys can be evil' - I haven't seen a chimp poison a river or kill for fun lately, have you? :))

  • nature is more powerfull then people, but if we change our way of living we become part of nature : work less, think more, act with soul. Stop with individual self-realisation and act as part of the universe.

  • @styfi1 unfortunally not all people thinks so

  • the world would be better peaceful and its just heaven without humans we are the demons of earth destroyers of life and creator of war

  • I love you ShadowRockerMan.

  • hum...o..kay?

  • @ShadowRockerMan

humans have done beautiful things too man come on

you can't tell me the piano is not beautiful? guitar cello?

we could enjoy sunsets, super bowls, were so unique

in the sense that we can do great and not so great things

  • @hamdizzel4 name 10 things that a good for the planet that humans made. but only profit the earth and maybe animals.

if not then just don't reply

  • @ShadowRockerMan

im telling you there are GOOD people in this world that want the earth to be peaceful. remember martin Luther king? was he a bad person no he was not

im a good person say a world without BAD people would be paradise.

  • @hamdizzel4 okay i can understand that sorry for misunderstanding

  • @ShadowRockerMan why dont you just kill yourself if you feel like that?

  • @andyisapro because its an insignificant decision, no decision in this universe is worth doing, because every decision we could ever make has already happened in the multi-verse we are jut part of an endless chain that never stops growing

  • @ShadowRockerMan

Antarctica has not been ruined by humans because they don't live there its so beautiful too cold but damn... wish i could live there

  • @hamdizzel4

    Dumbass.

  • @meowmeowfishfish

ahh shut up idoit you know its true humans suck get it right dumb dumb

  • @ShadowRockerMan yeah man i hate how humans destroy forests and nature for thier stupid roads and houses wtf? i wanna look out my window and see a lake a mountian tree's forest not some roads and a whole ton of mcdonalds

  • @ShadowRockerMan You are a dumbass.

  • @Grimmjow567

Hey hey hey fuck you bleach boy

  • @ShadowRockerMan

You are a dumbass. Nature is not about fluffy bunny rabbits and cute little animals all living togehter in harmony. Nature is the most vicious arms race imaginable, every living thing fighting for survival every second of every day, with the losers being eaten, starved and wiped from history. We, humans, are at the top of this constant war, and exploit other life-forms for our own survival just like every other species always has done and always will do.

Now grow up or shut up.

  • @jimmyboyG485 i agree with you on that side but the part i refer to is that we as a species are fucking up the biosphere

  • @ShadowRockerMan

We're not destroying anything "as a species", there are far more people out there who would prefer a greener lifestyle than those who wouldn't. But until we either develop either the solar net or efficient nuclear fusion, that lifestyle just isn't gonna happen. Most people are stupid and short-sighted, they'd be incapable of changing or even trying to change anything.

  • @ShadowRockerMan Yes, but Man has also done a lot of good. Don't forget you're a human, too, and who the heck will appreciate the world if we aren't around?

Animals live moment to moment, they never pause to think about things. They can't.

We can. We're unique and precious in the universe because of that, the fact we're psychologically deep: We're sapient, "homo sapien"; "the one sapient species", "the thinking species".

Earth is ours, it's our responsibility but it's ours, we're not it's.

  • Oh for heaven's sake, you know, why do you even bother having a go at human beings? We're not that bad, ok? Humanity is living on Earth, get used to it! Instead of rejecting the very thing that you are.

  • @ShadowRockerMan I was not aware that the world and life was ever peaceful. I suggest you spend some time observing ants or contemplate a wasp injecting an egg into a larva to be devoured alive. The world has seen cataclysms and mass extinctions that dwarfs anything we human do. And there is something inheritently horrifyng about mindless, uncontemplated suffering, which you get when you remove humans. We are a product of the same forces that shape life in all its forms.

  • A world without humans would be boring and pitiful. Humans ROCK!!!

  • A world with humans is more boring and pitiful.

  • World without humans is the perfect world. Eat sleep and have sex.

  • humans won't develop faster than light star travel, since humans are 1) amazingly retarded 2) primitive and 3) murderous and suicidal. Humans breed in the billions like a virus and destroy their own planet's ecology and their own survival. Humans are so dumb they think brute force rocket technology is a good idea and they worship witch doctors like Einstein. So any other earth like planets around other stars are completely safe from humans, since humans will destroy themselves in max 200 years.

  • I think it's very likely that we will have at least a couple of major wars and IF technological civilization survives you would see us slowly start to colonize the solar system - terraform Mars and perhaps colonize some of the outer moons of the solar system.

Interstellar colonization will be done, if at all - not by Cap't. Kirk but by descendants who deserve to go to the stars - by living between them - taming the wild darkness in between as we go.

  • yur a human

  • I want the earth to get rid of us.

  • MEn the earth Withought humans Would be a million Times and more better

  • Cough* Read "A world without us" by- Alan Weisman

  • A world without people would be a better world.

  • Not indepth enough, but interesting. Avatar doesn't do justice to a serious subject like this.

  • Serious subject? lmao how is this a serious subject? cure for aid- serious subject, eliminating racism- serious subject, hypothesizing what would happen in the even that, for some unexplained reason all humans seased to exhist- pointless topic. lol.

  • @Fatso1000100 It's kinda neat to get an appreciation for all the guys that run the infrastructure we depend on to live our comfortable, luxurious everyday lives. As a modern industrialized nation, we, the people who live in it, have never really had to fight to survive. We live in luxury, and this brings to attention all the things that make it possible.

i.e., people working the pumps in the subways, road work, structural maintenance, grocery stores, weeding structures, cleaners, etc.

  • looks a bit like Second life iv been in sims without ppl i just tp to another sim theirs always some ppl on SL

  • Awesome choice of music in the backround.

    Pendulum kicks fucking ass.

But the video coulda been wayy better.

  • damn... we need to build buildings that last longer, so we leave a bigger mark on this piece of rock we live on! >:D

  • exactly

  • The idea that all humans would disappear, without taking the rest of the world with us at least, is unlikely but it's still an interesting idea. Maybe it's just another way of saying there's more to the world than just the things we've built and what would happen if we weren't around to artificially hold back nature.

  • wow crazy stuff man lol

  • It is very unscientific to assume that a species which exists naturally from the Saharan dessert to the Alaskan tundra will be the next one to go extinct. If the lens that this "science" is so unnaturally contorted it is no telling what other uneccissary complexities they have introduced into their calculations. They should be reminded of Ocham's razor. They should stop embarrasing themselves while trying to promote their "evil human" concept.

  • humans are more lazy than evil.. so lazy that we let the evil ones take control

  • Comment removed

  • Shockingly unremarkable. It is a wonder why SciAm would produce this. They are a science magazine not a fantasy mag. And there is no information in this that could not be directly observed without the fantasy of global human speciescide. Go to Tecnotitlan or Chernobyl and you don't have to contort your mind into wondering who would possibly care that the buildings were crumbling.

  • I was reading how it was made. There was a deep investigation to all kind of specialists and professionals around the World. It is all based on a good research. This is just a summary.

  • I deep investigation? They assumed that the very next species to go extinct will be humans. It does no good to talk about what happens to cats and deer after we are gone if there aren't any cats and deer after we are gone. It makes no sense to talk about what happens to the Eifel tower or skyscrapers after we are gone if they fail before we perish. Many civilizations have fallen and we know what their decay looks like. Yet the human race abides.

  • name of the song in the video annyone?

  • Just so people know, The World Without Us by Alan Weisman is a fantastic book and well worth the read if you're interested.

  • will take us off the earth not aleins also even if go back to nature the earth will end anyway

  • So how many people saying that the world would be better without humans have taken their own lives as an example?

  • If they don't love the earth because it's the fashion now. Then Yes. I think it too. World would be better without me, probably without you and without humanity. But the humanity don't need to die or disappear if we stop everything what we do and go back to our original environment: to the nature.

  • "But the humanity don't need to die or disappear if we stop everything what we do and go back to our original environment: to the nature."

So why don't you and set the example?

  • I do it.

  • there is no way a stop the end of the world sce2aux so stop trying to save it

  • Anyone know the name of the song in this video?

  • well if u ask me humans would disspear sometime but if they survive they will die anyway because the sun will go away in about a couple billion or million years.

  • What happened to all the humans?

  • Nor has it been proven truthful. Have fairies been proven not to exist! I think not! Not saying i believe in fairies, but people such as yourself need to see that this book is purely fiction.

  • Here's a good example of why religion is regressive: this guy can't even *imagine* something because his pre-determined script, the Bible, keeps him from thinking about it. If we do die out as a species, it will be because of the idiocy that religion fosters.

  • Actually if you read your Bible you'll see that after the second coming of Jesus the world will be completely clensed of all the destruction we have wrought upon it, and then we will reign with Christ for a thousand years. And after we're gone this is very likely what will happen to all our stupid cities.

  • Yeah the bible is by far the best FICTION book ive read.

  • So yur saying that a book about magic virgins getting pregnant and people walking water is true lol

  • I have read "The World Without Us" It is one of the best books that I have read in a long time. This video does the book no justice.

  • ZOMG I LOVE SOLDIER FRONT!!!

  • Hi guys! What about the songs of the video...is there anyone who knows some titles?!?

  • No more humans. Imagine it. No more Youtube arguments.

  • aaaaaaahhhhhhh very scarey

  • in the history channel world without people it took like 10,000 years for the buildings to start collasping

  • really? only 10,000 years? I'd have thought at least some would last a bit longer than that.

  • I think cancer is the earth's immune system. I am all for the earth killin us off. We are so ungrateful!

  • Then if a new intelegint species evolves, they will find ruins like the Statue of Liberty, and find are civilization preserved in the buildings. Then they will find are language and pictures of Prehistoric animals because everything would start evolving, and I don't know how but some of are items powered by electricity might still work and then we just gave them a head start in to society. But they would continue on are idea's.

  • That's just retarded, why would a more advance species carry on our ideas? It's not like we'll be cavemen in the future. That would just spark a mental regression if they studied our behaviors ideas etc. and carried them on

  • I am not saying that there were, but what if there was an intelligent species before humans that died out. What do you think would happen if humans started to evolve with the previous dominant species society everywhere.

  • A species can't evolve without the original specimen, in which case, has already died out.

  • I ment that only the intelligent species before the humans died out. Then the monkeys back then evolved in to us and find their culture everywhere. It's like in this video. The humans die out. What if, say the sephlapods evolve in to intelligent species. What do you think would happen if they found are culture everywhere. Like writing and giant works of art like the Statue of Liberty.

  • Bananna-Hammock

  • It's OUR, not are. OUR. FREAKING OUR.

Besides that, Kitty has a good point, if there's a more intelligent species that finds OUR things, why bother using them? If they're highly advanced and we suck so much we all got wiped off the face of the earth, do you think they'd want to start adapting to our methods? Honestly. Some people.

  • "I can generate energy" You guys are such hipies.

  • What differance would it make there would be nobody here to care. Without humans there is no point. We are the only chance for life on earth to survive. one day the sun will go out and if we dont bring life somewhere else nothing that happend here will matter anyway.

  • One day=some 50 million years into the future. Brilliant. Only chance for life on Earth to survive? Only 2% of ALL of the animals that ever were on Earth are around anymore, but that's still 2%. Elephants, rhinos, and giraffes, oh my.

  • And then what happens at the heat death of the universe? We can't run from that. All things have to die some time, and that is ultimately unavoidable - but that doesn't mean that their entire existence is rendered pointless.

  • hell, its easy to say how things would happen, just like i can say what happens to you when you die, theres no independant verification.

  • looks pretty good i'd like to go there on holiday...

  • the buildings start to look nice with a bit of green on them!

  • que meirda de video! pesimo!

  • of course life will continue without human intervention. we are but mere specks of reality on the existance of the earth's surface. a minor flea upon the surface of the dog upon which we feed...

  • how could humans just suddenly dissapere?

if for a reason but still...interesting

  • actually, I read on a newsweek article about this book that a global effort would have to be for everyone to no longer have children or each couple limited to one child, therefore human life would lead to an apocalyptic end. Another was for everyone to got to space or for a human specific disease to be developed.

  • haha I read the same article. I got "the world without us" after reading it. It's really good!

  • You're the same person, of course you read the same article. Nobody is fooled.

  • disease? genetic virus?

  • aliens?

  • androd29 itsn't aleins its god. god fashion us in his image dummkopf08 the bible its not fiction its a true story

  • i wans't talking about that. The conversation was what could make humans just disapear. I sugested aliens

  • 'Chances of aliens having a hand in are creation is far more logical that God even if that two seems a little far fetched!

  • i meant that as a joke to an answer of why humans would disapear so suiddenly (as in the vid) not to who created us. Its just that Mr. Evangelical though that i said aliens created us.

  • 'What proof do you have. On top of that how is a book that stole everything in it from other religions that came before it. considered to be true stories?

  • does anyone know who the backing track is by? i keep wanting to think its the dub pistols but im sure thats not right. :)

  • scary? maybe the earth will heal the wounds we have slashed into it, whats that you say? "Hypocrite"?, no I'm not human ;)

  • I think it's better for world but scary...

  • I read an article about this, interesting stuff apparently in 100 million years all thats left of us is bronze statues.

  • i'm wasting my time!!!

  • hahahahahahha

  • this is a scary thought... too me.....SCARY!!!

  • değişikmiş

  • (one of these days dudes... they'll start to figure it out.)

  • DO AS GODZILLA SAVE THE EARTH DESTROYING IT btw im atheist, but i belive in the power of the mind i believe in psionics and i also believe SCIENCE RUINS EVERYTHING

  • dear michelle3515can'tthinkformyself.... scroll up. mr messy and yourself are clueless.

  • how dumb can you be, to not be able to recognize that 65 million is more then 1 million making my statement of over 1 million correct. Dont get pissed cause you want to have your save earth in spite of humans argument to be correct, nature should only get rid of the pathetic, like yourself.

  • we have to think about what will you do our world. I'm sure for world is better then without us

  • bu ne yaa.. ben hiç bişey anlamadım.. insan türkçesini yapar..yada türkçesini yazar:)

  • that's of course your opinion. It's a fairly decent stalemate since all I have are scientific evidence and fossil records while you have a religious text that has been altered throughout the centuries to suit various purposes. But of course, all it i've got is an opinion.

  • Man wasnt brought into existence by some ethereal being. We clawed our way up. The ape families split into two classes, one being a ground-dwelling type. Slowly, as the size of their primitive brains increased, they learned to use tools and to rationalize. Sadly, man is also a rather self-destructive beast that doesnt want to accept the fact that we're tearing the rest of the ecosystem apart.

  • we didn't come apes the lord made us.

  • you're an idiot.

  • how the fudge can you believe in something you never saw, its easyer to believe in psychics then in god if you ask me, and dont come with the statement that dinos never existed we have proof they existed...as of god's existence i never saw any

  • Physics we can prove. No shit.

We don't say we can prove God exists, we only hope.

You say you won't believe in anything you can't see, right? What the FUCK is chakra, rayatsu, ki, mana, etc.? Have a camera? Show us. How can we steal a planet from someone if we haven't existed for a minute out of a condensed 24 hours of Earth even existing?

Anyways, as I see it, religion is like healthcare. If God does exist (I think so) and we've wronged without righting, we're going to hell. Simple as that.

  • that is only one possible conception of "God" out of many...

  • yes we were brought into exitence by god your mother slept an ape then you were born and that's why your so dumb

  • are you even thinking about this? have you even read the beginning of the bible? people were living for 900 years! that's not real! okay, here we go mr messy brains, quick lesson in evolution: after Pangaea began to break up (Pangaea is the earth before the continents formed) what is now Africa crashed into what is now Asia. and that formed those big ass mountains that i'm sure you've heard about, The Himalayas

  • That caused the climate (weather) to change in Africa. Believe it or not, Africa used to be 100% rainforest. There are a lot of animals in the rainforest. Some of those being various species of monkeys. Monkeys, as I'm sure you know love hanging out in trees. Well... as Africa began to dry up, more and more trees began to die out. (Kinda like now with global warming, but we'll save that for tomorrow's class.)

  • As the trees began to disappear, the monkeys (who normally could spend days on end traveling from tree to tree) began traveling more on the ground. They had no choice. The rainforests were turning into deserts. As the monkeys spent more time on the ground their bodies began to adapt. They began to walk and run upright. It was easier for them.

  • As first we were building our homes and "cities" around what was the last of the trees within the deserts. (Homes today are made of the same thing...wood.) Standing upright gave us for the first time a real view of the sky. The longer we had to sit around and look up... the more we thought about it, until finally one day we asked, "Why?" -that was all it took my friend. WHAM

  • I'm not saying there isn't a god. You're just using the wrong words to talk about it. There isn't a more egotistical thought than god is a "Him" or a "man". It's impossible. What you're eluding to within the word "god" is the energy that is the universe itself. Infinity so to speak. These are energetic facts that cannot be simplified or broken down into something such as a "man"
