hi would somebody be able to tell me if u can get like a hard rock or classic rock sound as well as metal? i use a marshall ma50c with a fender jag with humbuckers. i usually play stuff like heavier foo fighters, the darkness, acdc, zepellin, ash. thanks
i have a question: i've got a multieffect pedal (it's a digitech rp355) and i'd like to try a Metal muff, is it worth it to get a metal muff ?? D: i hope someone answers me, thanks!
I've been trying to get a tone similar to Anthrax's "Madhouse" rhythm crunch recently with my Metal Muff. Can't seem to get it to sound as good as it does in the track. If anybody has suggestions on settings it'd be much appreciated!
can use only the boost with the distortion of the amp?? only for the solos..I need only the boost....or can I use the byass always over the amp distor??
this or a line 6 uber metal or digitch hardwire metal distortion??????????????? please respond. i want a parkway drive/august burns red/killswitch type tone
If you are a bassist searching for a pedal I'd recommend this. I wanted the sound as close as Cliff Burton had, so far this is the best (he used this one btw) :P
@10laughungtears Actually, he used the Electro Harmonix Big Muff, not the Metal Muff. And for bassists I'd recommend getting the Bass Big Muff, which is like the Big Muff, except it doesn't cut out all the low end like the Big Muff.
@BrUSomania Blackstar, definately the best distortion pedal I have heard. It has a tube in it as well. Forgot the exact name but if you look for a blackstar distortion pedal youll find it.
@BrUSomania Yeah I completely agree with Direksone. Blackstar makes awesome pedals. I have the Blackstar HT-Blackfire which is limited edition but if you could still find one available it is a great pedal. Expensive yes but amazing
@rhcpkzi okay well i cant give you a great answer on what you should get, i am a bass player, not a guitar player, but the boss metal zone, its a good pedal, but it doesnt seem to be enough to handle most metal, if you do get that however, a boss overdrive pedal with it will make it sound god. the electo harmonix metal muff pi, in my opinion is better, better distortion tone, more eq, and i just like it more. i would highly recommend a metal muff
@rrgert4 i can say, this is a thing i do, that it's a good thing to put a demo in the loop and then turn on the distorsion to see how it sounds like when you manipolate the knobs on the distortion pedal! it's veeery smart dude!
They should have put a clean boost on the metal muff the top boost has to be used lightly never past 10oclock. Thus pedal sounds awesome with my bugera 1960.
The metal muff is better than the fullbore and the boss metalzone. More amp like distortion less can of beez sounding. The only distortion pedal ill ever buy.
Nice vid, do you think this pedal would be great for thrashy stuff like Megadeth and Testament BUT at the same time proggy (lol) stuff like Dream Theater, Symphony X and so on? And is the boost used in this pedal to make solos more powerful or just to play metal because without it there wouldn't be enough gain? I hope to have been clear, I'm not english :P
I love the video bro, u did a great demo of this pedal, but i was wondering does the yamaha telecaster copy u were using have single coils or humbuckers?
Should I get this one or a Boss Metal Zone? I'm playing progressive metal like Opeth, Dream Theater and Nevermore (bands that require a fair amount of distortion and good lead tones for solos) , and thrash metal like Megadeth or Testament, but I have a Marshall Valvestate which does not have enough gain in my opinion, so I thought I should try using a pedal before considering buying a new amp. Can anybody help me to choose? Thanks!
@Niamorg1007 The Digitech DF-7 modelling the ML-2 kills the real thing. I've had them both. The key is that the DF-7 has a mid sweep control. Plus the Tube Screamer and the DOD preamp overdrive models included on the DF-7 could add life to the half baked overdrive channels. It's the next best thing than spending more money on the real thing. If I were you, I'd try MM with Top Boost along with the DF-7 before committing to a new amp.
I have this pedal and it's not to bad,but it doesn't compare to my modified Boss Metal Zone,Seymour Duncan Power Grid,or my absolute favorite the discontinued Zoom Tri-Metal.
Great demo for sure! I needed a fuzz pedal for a couple of tunes a night, and just finished A/B-ing about 7 of them. The Metal Muff isn't a fuzz pedal per se, although you can get some fuzz-style sounds when maxed. But, it really is an excellent all-around high-gain box. It doesn't thin or mush out your sound, and it's way above any "traditional" fuzz (although, those are different animals altogether). I have to agree with one comment though. The mid at about 1:00 or 2:00 o'clock is the ticket.
Hey guys, the only reason i would be scared to buy this is because of the fuzz. Does the fuzz get to crazy, and if it does what knob would be the best for keeping down the fuzz?
@NegmaDeath Sorry if the reply is to late dude get it the Fuzz isnt an issue the EQ's are really sensitive which is really good u can find a really unique sound in this i got it, and its plugged into my peavey bandit112 and man its a dream its one of the best distortion pedals ive heard a really good pedal but hands down the best distortion for pure metal death is the Hardwire tl-2 that thing is a monster IT IS the Pinnacle of portable gain monsters anyway go get the Muff u wont regret it
Would this pedal be good for Muse, would you say? I know Matt Bellamy uses a Fuzz Factory, but they are quite expensive and not easily versatile, and I do like the Muff... :/
Have fun trying to get in the mix with a mid-strong Mesa Mark V, Marshall JVM, or Bogner Uberschall with a Dist pedal with the mids scooped pushes a little Peavey Dandit.
I bought one of these when it first came out. I was a devouted MetalZone user for 20 years and tried ever distortion pedal out there. Then I tried the Metal Muff and the MetalZone has sat in the closet since.
I don't use the top boost fuction very often, but it's cool to know it's there if I need to rip the heads off the first five rows.
It just pisses me off when i go to find a review of something i might possibly want to buy, and then i SEE A FUCKING SLOW WITTED COMMENT LIKE YOURS THAT FUCKING DISCOURAGES ME FROM DOING SO!! LEARN HOW TO FUCKING SPELL BRA!!!

Killer Demo Dude! I just got my "Muff" today :) & am playing it through my Peavey Bandit 112 90's ("Teal-Stripe" Scorpion Equipped) & my Jackson Kelly KE-3.......All I can say about this Pedal is O.M.G.! Insane M-E-T-A-L Dudes! Mess around with it for awhile & im sure you will Find that "Killer Metal Sound" your looking for! Of course it will sound different for everyone considering what Amp you have (Tube or S/S) & also what Pup's your Axe has. The Top Boost really brings it out!
i have the this pedal and its not bad but i must say its not the best for the price, don't get be wrong it sound pretty good but you can do better, its just a little to trebley for me.....i am getting the mxr fullbore metal and i going to make a comparison video soon, so if you want to find out witch is better check it out.
dude... that is an orgasmic distortion there... i have the metal zone and honestly it sucks im considering this and the metal core but idk which i should go with... i want a metal core sound favorite bands include- all that remains, killswitch engage, parkway drive, and as ilay dying
This is the best review of a guitar pedal I have ever seen. I agree with rubbadude, if you do the same with other pedals we'll have no need to turn elsewhere for reviews.

why every demos had to be played with same kind of boring riffs/power chords again and again? cant they play some higher note in the demo???
I guess that was because most "metal bands" have no solos in their songs but just keep on repeating riffs/ PCs
One good thing abt this demo is that at least you tried turning everything.

@Niamorg1007 The Digitech DF-7 modelling the ML-2 kills the real thing. I've had them both. The key is that the DF-7 has a mid sweep control. Pretty good idea to loop one riff and turning the nobs to it.

You know that feel when you are stuck, and can't decide... Fullbore, Metal Muff or Micro Metal muff?

Please demo every pedal ever, just like this. The book on pedal demoing has been written. No showing off, just play the damn thing! Awesome vid, bro

Super Demo! I was wondering, which metal pedal is best, the Metal Muff, Fullbore metal or the Blackstar HT-distx? Thanks for any response : )

@MFG666EmOTP Thanks! I think I'll go for the Blackstar ;)

Excellent demo.
Playing a loop then tweaking ALL knobs so we can hear the FULL range of this effect.
Instead of someone yabbing on and making just a few tweaks.
PERFECT !!
THANKS

This is what a product-demonstration has to be. Not so much bullshit-talking like in most of the official and unofficial demos.
Very well done, here you can really well and fluently see/hear how it works in the settings.

dude... that is an orgasmic distortion there... i have the metal zone and honestly it sucks im considering this and the metal core but idk which i should go with... i want a metal core sound favorite bands include- all that remains, killswitch engage, parkway drive, and as ilay dying
metalmonstamikettt 1 year ago
@metalmonstamikettt The Boss metal core is pretty good for well, metal core.

This is the best review of a guitar pedal I have ever seen. I agree with rubbadude, if you do the same with other pedals we'll have no need to turn elsewhere for reviews.
