Shame he dosent use he's death metal vocals anymore, he mainly dose hight pitch screams in freak at times but apart from that, the chair don't play as much metal as they used to... I disagree this is my fav performance of this song... His screams in it are the best Ive ever heard him scream doinga performance of FREAK live (ive heard him scream better just not during Freak)... And the guitar solo kicks ass....So you didnt like the guitar feedback/effect at 3:05 big deal... It doesnt change how much energy this performance has.... I wish I could find more songs from this show.

The guitar tone is really, really bad. If you like it, you just don't know anything to electric guitar... There's not even any "solo", just some notes played randomly and in a not rythmical way. The singer is often out of tone... and I could go on. That's definitely not what I call music...

its all just a matter of opinion when it come to something like this. If you are judging Daniels Singing based on FREAK you are truly closed minded its not really a singing your heart out kinda song. Check out Across The Night, Emotion Sickness, Asylum, Those Thieving Birds, and/or Tuna In The Brine and tell me he sucks dick at singing and is constantly out of tune even though you'd probably think he was out of tune cuz he changes his tones and goes for different notes throughout one song.

not to like it is nothing anyone can blame on you but you just don't get it. what you're saying bout the "solo" sure is true but don't you see that he doesn't give a fuck? he's just making fun of himself and the audience in his typical cynical way. and that he's "often out of tune" with his singing is just not true! so again it's ok if you don't like it but you're reasons are really gay to me. I think it's the fucking best freak performance ever and it never has been my fav chair song.

this is the best verison of Freak Hands Down and its also not anywhre near my fav Silverchair song its not even in my top 10 fav its still a great song though I like it alot better live compared to the cd version though

I agree in every point and I think it's just boring and barren to pick on something that actually noone should give a fuck about. all that matters is if there's true energy and feeling and if the artist can give that to the audience. it truly depends on the song if a really clean and professional performance is required or the artist should just fucking let it go. and nothing can replace the latter.

Id rather them perform freak with alot of energy, agression, screaming, lots of feedback and distortion etc than try to make it sound like the album version. I dont like Live '97 versions aka the Freak Show era performances of Freak cuz they all just sound too much like the cd version everytime... Freak performed during the Neon Ballroom and Diorama touring sounds the best.

gotta admit I never paid too much attention to the freak performances for I'm much more into other songs but this one certainly kicks ass and the one on BDO is fucking hilarious as well (I also like the one from rock in rio). I think I can't say I don't like the 97 performances but I definitely know what you're talking about, daniel looked fucking hot in the video clip though. I don't know why this comes to my mind now but I LOVE the slave performance of their düsseldorf show.

oh yes him playing guitar at this madman performance gets me high. it's the fucking best and the solo part is SOOO cool! yeah and the screaming - wonderful! sometimes I think his guitar is kept too low. for example when performing emotion sickness. there's nothing like when he takes over with it at their melbourne performance (drives me crazy) but in düsseldorf it's definitely not loud enough.
