well lets face it compared to todays standards of coasters corkscrew is a disgrace, granted it changed the fate of alton towers but were talking 30 years aago when rollercoaster technology was rubbish, alton towers has high standards and a new B&M or Intamin would definetly be way better better than a crappy Vekoma

this was the first rollercoaster ride I ever went on. Must have been back in '86 as I seem to rememeber there being a height/age restriction on this.

Why did they get rid of this ride? Because it was old? I remember it being bumpy and I got knocked around abit...

I will always remember the very 1st time that i went on this magnificent ride. It was back in the mid 80's and i was just the right height for this ride, and when it stopped i did not want to leave, it was just amazing, and it was like being in a plane going through the g forces. This amazing ride will definitely be sadly missed R.I.P CORK SCREW.

I've never ridden the corkscrew, it hasn't been around when i first went, and i've now been about 3-4 times to Alton Towers, i think.. but the way you made this video, really made me miss the ride.. or at least feel sympathetic! And i haven't even ridden it! Well done for the video... :)

Mym mom first went to alton towwers 30 years ago the first day corkscrew was open and when we went 30 years later in summer of 2010 she was like Ahh what I really enjoyed that ride. But then we went to spinball whizzer and it was lolz.

i remember telling my mum,
