  • Three of the traitorous judges fell because of this "decision." It will be reverse by the will of the people of Iowa.

  • Those were the brave plaintiffs (in the vid) that fought for it ... I have total respect for those couples ... I don't think they were fighting for #3 in the US ... they only wanted what they thought was right for them ... I am proud to be an Iowan

  • @photolitherland let's stop with the name calling, please; don't make us all look bad.

  • Look how happy they are!

Shame on all Christian's believing they are saving anyone by not allowing SSM.

  • I don't think Iowa is as red and conservative as most people paint it to be ... growing up there I remember my grandparents and parents always mulling over and rationalizing what eventually they thought was right for everyone else. That is what I think Iowa is.

  • It's kind of ironic that a Red, conservative state like Iowa would legalize a freaky, unnatural lifestyle....

  • @groundhog713 Iowa, a conservative state did not legalize gay marriage! Treasonous, judicially active judges legalized gay marriage in contempt of the will of the people of Iowa. If it is the will of the people of Iowa to legalize gay marriage put it to a vote like was done in LIBERAL California. California voters rejected gay marriage, and so would Iowa.

  • @rrmfg & groundhog 713, you can't let people vote on civil rights issues; if you did, biracial marriage would still be illegal in the southern states.

  • @rrmfg

I got a better idea. Why don't we put your marriage to a vote? Oh wait, religion doesn't allow the marrying your own mother you inbred

  • @Consumersselfhelp I couldn't agree with you more Iowa should put my marriage to the vote of the people. As I am a man married to one woman I have no fear of the will of society. If a society is not allowed to define it self a it sees fit, but instead have the will of a small minority imposed upon it which minority should have the right to impose its will upon society? Your answer is obviously a socially liberal secular minority. Why not Islamic law, for example?

  • @rrmfg

So I guess you believe that a black man and a white woman should not be allowed to marry. If this was left up to this countries citizens, that is exactly what would have happened. There are certain things that you can't trust the community to vote on. Oh, I know, why not have allowed the people to vote on whether or not we have segregated bathrooms or whether or not woman have the right to vote.

  • @rrmfg upholding the constitution is really treasonous

all man is created equal, atleast in iowa

  • ya a conservitive state voted for equal rights, should the rest of the red states do the same?

  • Yeah, No. I live in Minnesota and travel to Iowa quite frequently. there is, like, of 1000 people who don't live in either Sioux City, Des Monies, Davenport or Cedar Rapids, and if you have ever been to any of them you'd know that they are not really 'red' cities. plus some of the farmers are socialists so, yeah. EAT IT BUSHY!

  • @groundhog713 Well..... if other red states are allowed to legalize a freaky and unnatural lifestyle like two cousins getting married..... lol FUCK YOU.

  • This is what we need in this world, to have the same rights, good for you Iowa!!

  • I'm so sick of Christians and their paraphrased versions of the Bible. But the worst are the Mormons. They deserve the most scrutiny and are a scary force to be reckoned with. Iowa look out. Powerful men in Salt Lake City will try to elect a slate of cretins to office in Iowa.

  • do you find that smoking & breathing in second hand smoke is offensive?

how do you feel when somebody that is smoking comes in and sits next to you in a public room? do you find it offensive & get up & move away from them?

that's how i feel about seeing two men in public....

so yes, i do find it hard to respect that.....i'm not saying that i am going to be rude, but i don't care to see it......as do many others.

  • Smoking is physically offensive though. Two men kissing is all mental. However, I don't like it when anyone kisses excessively in public, gay or straight.

  • then dont look.

  • Comment removed

  • Do you know what illogical argument called Red Herring Fallacy is?

Smoking and/or second hand smoke has nothing to do with loving relationships...gay or straight. Try again

  • what happens when your relationship makes the other people around you in public places get the dry heaves & start blowing chunks.......

  • You know they said the same thing about intterracial marriage

  • If you live in a society where nothing offends you.

Then, You are NOT living in a Free Society !

  • its not like that...

their are no outward signs that a man is gay.

if he started kissing his boyfriend then yes you would know he is gay and it would be awkward.

but wouldnt it be awkward if you started kissing your girlfriend?

  • @AceofDimonds0

I don't find this to be true. These days it seems like most homosexuals try thier best to make it apparent that they are gay. Homosexuals usually try to make an effort to shove their sexuality in people's faces & I think it makes others uncomfortable.

  • yes homosexuals try to make it apparent that they are gay because their trying to be accepted by everyone, which is stupid because no matter who you are or what you do, some is not going to like you.

  • @mstep3 The problem is that homosexuals that fit the stereotype are called out and made fun of. So to own their identities, these people go to the extreme, which simply makes others notice them more.

However, you would be amazed at the times that gay, lesbian and bi people are told "Noway your gay, you sooo don't look it".

You honestly would be surprised :)

  • I'm so jealous for Iowa....and Connecticut, Massachussetts, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire.

  • When I heard my homestate was #3 ... I was like WTF ... I am sooo proud ... now I live in the SW

  • How illogical is it, when it's okay for Heterosexuals to express their sexuality by holding hands in public, and yet when homosexuals simply hold hands in public, they're harassed for it. Why would anyone in their right minds "CHOOSE" a life that invites persecution and harassments? Think about it thoroughly. A person with Down Syndrome never asked to be mentally challenged. A Heterosexual never asked to be straight, and ditto for Homosexuals. They never askd to be born as Gays? People, THINK!

  • so......do you think that homosexual's find it gross or disgusting when they see a man & a woman kissing or holding hands in public?.......

because i defintely find it gross & disgusting when I see two men kissing & rubbing on each other in public......i would also go so far as to say that the majority of people in this country also find it offensive......

  • "so......do you think that homosexual's find it gross or disgusting when they see a man & a woman kissing or holding hands in public?......."

Some do, and some don't. However, most Homosexuals respect the rights of others around them, including Heterosexuals rights to privacy.

And I believe it's fair to say that some do find offensive, and some don't find same-sex relationships offensive. And if Homosexuals respect your Heterosexual relationship, why can't you for theirs?

  • Has anybody asked Fred Phelps how feel about this? Seriously, this is an irreversible trend that will spread to other states. The US is still incredibly backwards in so many ways and this issue is just one of them. The Jesus freaks need to be reigned in by people of reason (and, no, I am not gay).

  • Go read the opinion.

  • So is there any verification of proving you are homosexual? Basically two guys come there. Kiss each other and they are eligible for benefits?

How do you prove you are gay? and not just a couple of single guys scamming for tax and property benefits?

  • Well how do you prove you're straight? A man and a woman show up and kiss and say they wanna be married, and voila they're eligible for benefits?

With very few exceptions, the state does not inquire into the private motives of hetero couples seeking to marry, so why should it in the instance of same sex couples?

Do you really think it's going to be a common occurrence for 2 otherwise hetero guys to willingly assume the stigma of being identified as gay just to get benefits? Seriously?

  • Please think about what youre asking. It's only fraudulent if they are homosexuals. A man and women never have to prove they are a man and a women. It's homosexuals that bring confusing to the obvious.

  • Well as of Sept. 1 it will be legal in 4 states, with more to come in the near future. You might as well just accept that SS marriage is going to be here to stay and move on with your life.

I assure you it won't make one iota of difference in your own life. It won't affect your marriage at all, as long as your marriage was secure in the first place.

  • My life never stopped moving. When God judges us, I hope you are just as accepting his ruling as you are with the immoral ruling of this nation.

No. it won't make a difference to me when God judges this nation, I am fighting for you now, not me. I won't be able to anything when God judges. I will be secure. All else will be sinking sand.

  • Well according to your religion everyone will be judged, for noone is blameless. I highly doubt that one "wrong" (if it is one) will be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Secondly, I have no power to control what other judges or legislatures may do, regardless of whether I may approve of their actions. If I'm to be judged not only on what I've done but what others over whom I had no control have done, then your "God" is no God at all-he's a sadist.

So to that God, I say no thanks.

  • Oh you mean like the countless number of opposite sex couples who get married for immigration, tax benefits, etc? How do they proove they are heterosexual. By the way, the main benefits are still denied at the federal level (i.e. inheritance, social security, etc.)

  • Is Iowa still a State?

  • God celebrated this decision by sending a pink dolphin to frolic about in the waters of New Orleans, the closest sea to Iowa....

  • LOL!, and I am gay!

  • Praise the baby jebus!

  • I just wish they got cuter gay couples.

    JK, it's a great day. :)

  • Congratulations, Iowa. This is a momentous occasion. If only Missouri could follow in your footsteps.

  • @jmk1975 It's nice to know that I am the only one who supports same-sex marriage in MO. I'm straight and married and I think it's high time committed same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

  • @moondogjack1978 Thanks for your support.

  • @jmk1975 You're very welcome. Where in MO?

  • @moondogjack1978 St. Louis County. And you?

  • @moondogjack1978 You really should watch A Serbian Film. It's right up your alley.

  • WHOOT!! HELL YEAH!

    ^^

  • "We are firmly convinced the exclusion of gay and lesbian people from the institution of civil marriage does not substantially further any important governmental objective," the Supreme Court wrote.

Iowa lawmakers have "excluded a historically disfavored class of persons from a supremely important civil institution without a constitutionally sufficient justification."

To issue any other decision, the justices said, "would be an abdication of our constitutional duty."

    Thank God!!!
