  • nice horn!

  • awsome video

  • Wow! What a consist!

  • I love the bridge shot of the NS coal at the end

  • I miss conrail before they where bought out i use to see hundreds a month pass my window. good times.

  • Good old Nathan 'P' horn, sounds good! great video!

  • must be an ex PRR line if it's got cab signals. they were the originator of cab signals, in conjunction with signal mfr Union Switch & Signal

  • LOVE THE HORN!!!

  • Hey just think if conrail had a sd70ace

  • I believe these are First Energy Coal Cars.

  • I work in the Cardinal Plant Coal Yard. These Cars DID NOT come from Cardinal Plant. I see them go by the plant often. Not sure where they are going to or coming from. Wheeling- Lake Erie brings our cars in and also pulls our empties.

  • Wow, amazing P3 on that Conrail! Also pretty impressive catch with that BNSF SD70ACe. They're rare out this far east.

  • WOW! What an awesome power lash up on that empty coal drag consist!! Great Catch, 5 Stars!!!!

  • I think ive seen your forum on trainboard before....so what brings you up to steubenville to do railfanning?

  • good old fashioned work! our company has an office in steubenville and i was up there to do a software/hardware installation for a new product line.

  • What a lashup!

  • It is a very good Video but why arent they using the BNSF supplied power alone, if it is an empty they should not need more than that one SD70ACe to pull it anyway.

  • the lead locomotive in cab signal territory must be equipped for cab signals. the bnsf locomotives are not; the former CR unit is. it makes for some great colors on this train!

  • Oh that makes sense, I am real surprised working for the BNSF and all and seeing the tech advances they have embraced not only on the old ATSF as far as ATC or Automactic trainstop which they had installed on the Chicago to LA passeger routes by the late 50s that we have never adopted cab signal technology I looked at the new SD70ACEs and they have all the mounting hardware and those pre-scored holes in the cab for installation of Cab signals we should have adopted this tech a long time ago.

  • Heck UP has it and the defunct CNW had it I do not see why we do not have it it enable higher operating speeds and closer spacing of trains by the way I know CNW had it because when we get UP engines they have dual cab signal decoders one for the old CNW system and one for the UP system and when we get close to former CNW tracks either crossing them or paralleling them we have to constantly acknowledge phantom signals to keep the train from going into emergency .
