Amazing. I was actually in the papal choir and spent months with May Barnes from St Margaret Mary's Secondary in Castlemilk, practicing with lots of other kids from high schools across Scotland. I was in St Columbas from Gourock. Great video.
Amazing I was there from S.T. Andrews Parish in Livingston, when I was 6 one of the most iconic days ever, God bless Pope John Paul the 2nd... will you no come back again...
Great Ron! I was at Murrayfield and Bellahouston...this brought back happy memories. Looking forward to going to see Pope Benedict in Edinburgh with our school next week, as we are a St Ninian's, our P7 are taking part in the parade and the rest of the school are going to watch. Can't wait. Just wish I could be at Bellahouston too. Carolyn
Fabulous! I wisnae wi' the Joey's that day, 'cos I was singing in the Choir. We got a good look at JPII in the Popemobile. I remember the Polish choir joining us and singing a hymn in 5/4 time when we'd practised in 4/4! Chaos!
This is brillant, Ron. I remember the day. I went with St Columba's. Unfortunately, I'm in Budapest next Thursday but Declan's going with St John's. I spotted Stephen Veal; I worked with him about 20 years ago.
It must have been such a special day and you captured the ful spirit of the Pope's visit! I am really looking forward to Sept 16 to be part of another special occassion at Bellahouston after 20 years!

Can i just point out at the end of the Mass Pope John Paul never went on to a youth mass in Edinburgh at Murrayfield.
The youth mass was held the day before in the afternoon.
We got the afternoon off to go to the youth mass and the whole day off to go to Bellahouston!!!
Remember it well

And the weather made the day as well.
