tell me about it, mainstream pop and rap is all painfully generic now, both lyrically and in terms of production. look at how many songs have some shitty electro-pop beat behind them with a mediocre female vocalist singing about "having a good time" or "dj turn it up." definitely the majority follow that trend. 2003-05 was back when atleast some mainstream rap and rnb was edgy with acts like outkast and the black eyed peas (before they sold out anyway).
