@TrowbridgeHardcore I've tried doing that and got it sounding pretty good already, but still not as rolling as his one. Obviously there are a lot of different amens out there so I'm guessing it's all about getting the right one. Thanks for the tip though :)
@cun7us Multiple kits going on, hear where it loses it's complexity at 6:41, keep it busy. Accentuate every 16th, gives it that continuous rolling feel, EQ to shit and set drums to a different output (if possible) will give them more punch, bring them to the front of the mix. Of course over 15 years of production exp. like Mr. Barrett wouldn't go a miss ;) Hope this helps.
@HomegrownInc Awesome man thanks! I'll try those tips. Yeah EQ'ing is pretty important I've discovered over the past year. Notice he also adds in another amen at 2:55 which gives it that extra rolling feel. Can't believe this track is like 10 years old and still sounds amazing
I still prefer the Satoshi Tomiie Main-Path, it's slower, but has more vibe, not that hectic like this remix here. Don't get me wrong, HC has done some great remixes, but you simply can't remix everything into a loud, hectic DNB track.
Much better suited to the slower breaks. Not a great remix in my opinion. Basically just feels like the original played at 45, -12 rather than at 33. If you're going to remix something, gotta either do it better than the original or so different that it becomes your own. High Contrast did neither here.
Hey everybody - I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains electronic upbeat and ambient songs heavily inspired by Future Sounds of London. If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .
I went to Papa new guine the other day...I drove a jeep down the main road blasting this song in full power, I could swear the people were going nuts..everybody was dancing it looked like a freakin Rave
The first time I ever took ecstacy this song was playing in the car while we were driving out to the city. My friends asked how are you feeling? (They had taken it before).
i dont understand how people can like this more than the Nu:tone version. This uses a standard drum beat and the original elements of Papua New Guinea are pitched up and sound a bit cheap.
yea i had it but some cunt nicked it at a house party i played at.... it's one of those classics that people will just steal coz to have it is precious. same thing happened to my copy of 'on a ragga tip'. barstards!!
~~this one of THOSE track that got in this mess I'm still ih 2day.... hahaha. when I heard it again in this form.. god.. just love it, love it, love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely loved the original but high contrast have done a top job turnin this into a drum and bassy track, I thought Chase and status were good High Contrast are on a higher level!!!!!
despite some tracks being remixed many times High Contrast still comes out EVERYTIME with a unique sound unlike that of any other remix! The Hybrid version of papa new guinea takes some beating but this is as good just different. This choon takes me back to where it started for me all those years ago! hahaha. Love high Contrast's work and long may it continue!!! Big UP! =D
@mouldysockmuncher Sir, you ahve pretty much said EXACTLY what I was going to say. Specilly the Hybrid part. Anyone that listen to hybrid is a prince among men!
I love all the new DnB artists. but this had that.....Old school touch which is just.....godlike...

I like D&B because its new and fresh, great remix but its never gonna have the impact on the dancefloor that it had in 92! My word I still have 3 copies of this tune on 12" vinyl and they still get played!!!

Awful compared to the original... blaring brass at the beginning? Come on, all of these remixes suck comparatively.
Spiralogy 2 years ago
The brasses are from the original tune which FSOL used in PNG... The vocals are Lisa Gerrard in her Dead can Dance times...
So it makes absolutely sense to use these brasses in the remix... I recommend you inform yourself a little more instead of trolling around.

Nope, I don't think I could. But I think high Contrast could have.
Not by complicating it more, but maybe by adding a different touch to it.
