Slayer were great back when they wrote this, but after this was released, they became a pretty shitty band

Show No Mercy and Hell Awaits are awesome albums, but after that, the rest is pretty crappy in my opinion, they were different people back then

A completely different band, and they went completely off the HA track

@TheKvltist Yeh Slayer's song writing before Reign in Blood, particularly on HA and Haunting the Chapel some of the best. Reign in Blood is pretty good, but way overrated, especially when albums like Show no Mercy get little recognition.

It seems as though everyone is hyped on the speed of RIB and they forget about the songs that showcased brilliant composition, and a truly dark atmosphere, and i am referring to Hell Awaits mostly, the whole album is filled with minor key harmonies, odd time signatures and dark riffs, SNM has a bit more of a Maiden/Priest feel to it, which was cool, but Hell Awaits was just too well written to have any competition from the rest of their catalogue

@TheKvltist in my opinion i think that, yea reign in blood was overlyhyped as a good cd...the first two were dope cds... but even though south of heaven and seasons in the abyss sound different they are great albums ... i think the first five albums are thrash masterpieces ... cant say the same about the rest of ther cds... i still like some new slayer songs, mainly cus they kept it thrash ... and instead of toning it down there still doing their thang....
