  • 00:39 Holy shit were you stationed at Pt. Mugu Sr. Chief!?

  • @NForcerSA Me playing softball was at SHAPE in Mons, Belgium at the 00:39 mark. There from 77-81. Never west of Chicago Great Lakes for any type duty. Always East Coast or Europe for me. Sorry. LOL

  • Hahaha, you look like you belong man. Thanks for your service!

  • Thank You for the services you had in the navy !

  • god i love the navy :)

  • RM3 on The USS Mount Whitney LCC-20 1986-1988

  • Thanks for sharing and especially for serving in protecting our freedom. Your photos remind me of my brothers Navy days, he's since retired as a chief back in 1993 after serving 23 years and I did my 6 years in the Navy starting back in 1983 finishing as a Radioman 3rd Class. God Bless and hope your years after retirement have been smooth sailing.

  • @angini63 I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It went along better with the Village People's In the Navy song but that didn't fly on Y/T because of copyright laws. Thank you also for your service to our country and God bless. Jim :)

  • @804CardMagic Communications Technician (Intelligence) That is a very good rating. I was a yeoman and managed only 2 ships in 27 years of duty. YN's like CT's get some pretty good duty stations. CT's go all over the world. Maybe they'll train you in a foreign language while in school or after. We had CT's on the Eisenhower but they kept to themselves. We called them the spooks. Again, good luck and smooth sailing. Jim

  • @804CardMagic Good luck to you. I went in thinking I'd just do my 4 yrs and get out but I actually enjoyed it and then they offered me Italy to reenlist and went on from there. Pay attention and go as high as you can in rank. Remember, you always have th GI Bill for college afterwards. Once you get past boot camp, everything else is fine. Take care and God bless. Jim

  • Awesome video Jim! My dad was on the USS Belleau Wood in WWII. On the 4th of July last year, we took our son on the Battleship NJ. He really enjoyed it. The tour was guided by these headphones and it would instruct us to follow the next arrow and then describe where we were standing. We went on the flight simulator too which was at Camden Aquarium. That was fun!

  • Cindy, Thanks! Like I said above if they would have allowed the "In the Navy" song by the village People, the pics would have fit just right. I had to choose what they gave me and this one wasn't so bad. GO NAVY! Have a good day. God bless. Jim

  • Ironic, You saying that, I was stationed on the USS Belleau-Wood LHA-3 in early

90's, and TAD to the New Jersery During Desert Storm

  • EXCELLENT!!! Brought back so many memories as a 22 year retired veteran. Also, one of my ole girls was featured...FF-1079. God Bless all our Shipmates!! FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWING SEAS!!!!

  • Glad you liked it. I was a Yeoman Chief on BOWEN from 81 to 84. Saw a lot of nice ports. Take care and God bless. Jim

  • Glad you enjoyed it. Yes a lot of good memories for me especially in Italy.

  • Great pictures Jim, (I love the 1:58 one and Popeye!!) and I am sure they hold many precious memories for you too. Thankyou so much for sharing.

  • i am pleased to meet you

  • Jenny, Same here! I spent 4 wonderful years in Gaeta, Italy while in the Navy. Have relatives near Rome and Corinaldo as far as I know. Also have a great Italian best friend, Tony, who lives in Diamante.

  • I love it...you did a good job on this one

  • That's a great video! I've seen that one at 2:45 before - I guess from another one. I'll bet this is one of your favorites.

  • Yes, the frigate is USS BOWEN FF 1079 (81-84)which was sold to the Turkish Navy many years ago. The carrier is USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER CVN 69 (88-91. USS BOWEN was involved with action off Beirut, Lebanon when we fired on the Druse militia shelling the Marine Barracks. IKE went down the Suez Canal for Operation Desert Shield/Storm. My only 2 ships during 27 years of Navy life. Not bad!

  • is your ship USS Knox class? ff1079?

    i was Taiwan navy(2005~2007),my ship is FFG934(USS Kirk FF-1087)~

  • It would have been much better with the Village People's "In the Navy" but that was halted big time by YouTube. Their selection of substitute songs are really different to say the least! You win some, you lose some. It wasn't like this on JibJab for sure!

  • You did it! It works well with this tune, also. Nice job, Jim, great photos.
