the races come with racial abilites.

when rolling horde if u wanna be a class that and undead can be. be undead. they have the best or 2nd best racial in the game. belf mages get eaten by locks but UD stand a chance.

and as for alliance NE can turn invisible becoz of a racial and the dreni have a racial heal which is self spammable.

so YES it does matter.

Wotf is a good racial, but for pve id rather go troll priest than undead ... but im assuming u meant pvp

For alliance the best racial there is Perception, that skill is indeed amazing, however gift of the naaru isnt bad aswell.

Basically every race's racial is good; in the end it depends which race is comfortable for you.

The only epic fail here is a PRIEST USING A PVP STAFF. That should never happen, no matter what spec it should be Mace/Dagger + Offhand.
