Right libertarianism is based on a negative view of freedom, as presented in this video. That rejection of self-ownership implies that someone else has ownership over you is a false dichotomy, and uses fallacious reasoning. This view, of freedom in the negative, fails to view the world as interconnected, and people as interdependent, which they are. There is an alternative: Positive freedom: "Having the power and resources to fulfill one's own potential." Google 'Libertarian Socialism.'
Not quite true. It is possible to claim that only God has a higher claim over a person than that person does over himself. God's personhood is debatable, or whether the term "person" even applies to one such as him.
@stargazerpr No I didn't it's all about the difference between working time and other commodities. The video is ok for any commodity except for working time, because working time is paid at the price required to make it (what I need to stay alive and more or less integrated in society) while the value of what is created by this work is higher than that (otherwise why bother working if it consumes as much as it creates ?)
It's just another video trying to solve problems without speaking of class.
@ stargazer ...so, concretely, it means that saying "stop asking the government for everything" is only one half of the solution, and this half alone is aimed at telling the people : "shut up, work for less, be competitive you scums..." etc, while the real solution is more along the line of "stop asking the governement, take the control of the economy in your own hands by force, organise it democratically without wasting time in bloody competition".
@Longlivethe4th For the record. Capitalism and the free market are the only moral systems of human interrelationship ever devised. Both logic and history show that business men have done more for the human race than any other group or individual ever. Any interference with business by any person or group especially the state for any reason is damaging to the "people" in general and the poorer "classes" in particular
@stargazerpr : today, the economy operates on a fully integrated global scale, nation-states is bad because it is unable to cope with that scale. The solution is to stop dividing the world into warlike nation-states, but only the working class can do that, the higher classes have an objective interrest in keeping the world divided to make parasitic business and crushing their competitors.
Capitalism will never unite the world, only socialism can, you're right on one thing : it has never been done before, but as your Wall Street buddies have told us ad nauseam since 30 years : "don't stay stuck in the past, move on !"

this is why having a government is the root to all of the evils in society. Research anarchism

Many people mistakenly use the phrases "capitalism" and "free market" interchangeably.
Capitalism incorporates state interference in the market to create and maintain monopolies that could not occur in a true free market.
Intellectual property, royalties, taxes, zoning, licensing, coding, and permits are such things that are make a market NOT FREE.
Capitalism="privatization" (government enforced monopoly)=tyranny

@mechanicaltruck - What would prevent monopolies from forming if there were no governement? Better yet, what would prevent government from forming?

@Longlivethe4th Sigh! Perhaps Mr Menckin was right " in a democracy the people get what they deserve... and they deserve to get it good and hard.
