America never won any war UNTIL the french came in. Try fighting a war 3000 miles from home with 3 world powers. It's kinda hard when you also have the rapidly-rising German war machine (WW1) to think about.

The only reason we stayed in Yorktown was because we couldn't escape. French blocked the exits, you blocked the land exits.

If they wanted to commit and send more troops, both the colonies and Britain would have lost a WHOLE lot more soldiers until the war finally ended. The only way Britian could have won was to garrison each city with thousands of troops. And also remember, War is not just fought militarily, it is also fought politcally.

The way the battle is shown in the movie has more similarities to the battle of Guilford’s Courthouse (the Americans lost this battle in reality). Although Banastre Tarleton, Tavington’s real life counterpart was defeated at Cowpens, so it’s a combination of the two.

I adored the Patriot film. Tavington was cunt as well lol. But there is just no way the Americans would have won the last battle in the film. They were vastly ounumbered and outgunned by a more proffessional and technologically advanced army. I think that last part ruined the realism feel of the film. Most are oblivious to how much the Dutch, French and Spanish helped the war effort. I do agree with most of your points BUT the French did not win the war in the America's. Did they help, yes sir. They defeated Graves at the Battle of the Chesapeake and helped surround Yorktown. A better way to word this would be to say the supplies and resources sent by the French, mixed with the French Navy helped the colonists win the war in the Americas
