Hey, you guys goin' on early 80s New Wave, first off, from what I understood back then, there was not really a separate distinction between New Wave and Punk until the suits got involved at the big labels. It was all New Wave, under the same umbrella. And even if the distinction did come about, at least early 80s new wave pop was fucking miles better than the drudgy prog rock the preceeded it. I'd take The Knack and Missing Persons over ELO any day!

what american hardcore did was brilliant, it said no to fashion, no to politics and no to everything, it took the map of punk rock created in the 70's and made it better, american hardcore was the true meaning of punk, there was no in between with hardcore, you were either in or you were out, and there was no fashion to steal later on, it was punk done right. it was character, it was rebellion, it was state of mind, all things you cant buy, all very real.
