I was searching WW1 for a school project and found this. I swear, it is the most beautiful song I have ever heard and can not help but get this great feeling every time I listen to it.
Billy Murray is truly a classic. It's amazing that 100 years ago he was a star and everyone knew his name and now he's been forgotten. Same can be said for any performers of that era and the same will apply for our modern performers.
@theraver2020 i second that, in fact a kettle on its last legs sounds or even metal screching being cut w. a high speed cutter is by far better than justin beiber
Good quality recording, kind of reminded me of those great barbershop quartets, but the panning and zooming is TOO FAST! Still enjoyed the song though.
Quartet personnel on this recording: John Bieling, tenor; Billy Murray, lead; Steve Porter, baritone; William Hooley, bass. This was one of their major hits.
@DeutscheRossiya Actually, my music library spans from 1896 to 2011, so... There are really good music being made, but it's becoming more and more difficult to find day after day... Radio is total crap, that's the real problem.
Wow, this was popular in my old Country (USA) fifty eight years before I was born! Thanks to modern internet technology, I can finally hear old songs like this for real that I might have heard whistled on my G.Grandpa's farm when I was only really young, like 4-5...
I love this song too! This is yet another one that was in the White Star Line Orchestra's songbook prior to 1912, thus was probably performed by their musicians on the RMS Titanic.
This is terrific music. It's 100 years old now and represents a simpler time in America before either of the World Wars! It's a great song and one of the classics from the ragtime era

@LouSoufier But the difference is if Rebecca Black is forgotten, nothing of value is lost.

I can't believe this version! The rhythm makes it sound like '50s rock. And this is by far my favorite Billy Murray song now.
