  • there are more ways to back... you could ally dock or straight dock

  • dud the opposite is true u good to break the linkage and you do this by turning the other way then u catch up tha trailer and don´t try to put me in my place i have been driving sweden germany for two years now

  • Thats not the way to back up. ive been playing this game ever since i waz 4! i know a thing or 2

  • next month I have examen,if you have more explaination I want to see it,,thanx..

  • thanx to explaination to leren,I will be driver for truck...But why you make this video at night,it is dark and I dont see good???????

  • thanx to explaination to leren,I will be driver for truck...

  • Gotta agree with the Swift driver comment. Many faults in this vid. Why on earth would anybody blindside so much? Why back out onto the street when there is a huge yard to turn around in and exit like any pro driver would do. Not very realistic at all.

  • @Guido2872 Thanks for comment, but this video isn't to show skills or how to back a semi. It's intended just to explain the physics about how the semitrailer behaves while moving the cab one side or another. I understand I did stupid and unrealistic things, but it's for people that doesn't even know how or why rotate the cab.

  • @Guido2872 thanks for this video can you please make a another video with every possible maneuver i am commercial driver with 2 months experience backing up is the only challenge that i am facing right now

  • @jaspreet112233 I didn't make the video, just made a comment. If you want some backing advice there is one simple rule that will help you stay out of trouble. If you can't see where your trailer is in you mirror then just get out and look for yourself taking note of where the steer tires are pointed. Don't forget to set the brakes first of course. With a little practice you will catch on to it.

  • @jaspreet112233 There are lots of possible maneuvers... and even if I created a video with several different backings, wouldnt help at all. The backing needs that you feel completely "integrated" in your cab and semitrailer, meaning that you don't have to see if the semi is moving wrong to correct it, instead you know exactly what you need to do. In this video I explain the basics on trailer physics, but maybe you want to try a game called Truck and Trailers, where you only reverse trucks.

  • @jaspreet112233 What I mean is that you can't pretend to "memorize" how to back on every situation and reproduce it. I mean you have to be able to use your knowledge to new situations and challenges. So maybe playing a game like Truck and Trailers helps you. Anyway I don't know if your problem is that you feel like you have no idea at all, also having a real bad time on each reverse, of if you mean you still need practice but already know how it works.

  • For your concern, yes, it is what happen in real life. But I want to add that once your trailer is in the right direction, you have to follow it, well almost, with the truck. It is really hard to figure in real life because most of the time, you have to go back with trailer already parked on both side, so, that add a lot of risks and you really have to be carefull to not hit the other trucks and or trailers on both sides, even more if you work in quite a little space! A little practice needed!

  • @DigiPal Thanks for comment man, really appreciated. I agree about the part of parking between trailers. Well, since I posted this video I parked many times the semi (in the game of course), and even put myself challenges like parking in tight places between walls, etc.. and I agree it requires practice, so you get to know when, even if it looks like you will hit the trailer, it doesn't and ends up fitting, but if you don't risk trusting yourself you find yourself going forward and back again.

  • great stuff, thanks for the help.

  • @relfexreaction Thanks for comment man, appreciated.

  • OMG! that really cleared things up for me thanks man.

  • @Agent739 Thanks for comment man, I'm glad it helped.

  • i like it ^^ smooth backing

  • @haulinMercedesActros Thanks man, appreciated.

  • In real life is a little bit harder and with a double its impossible if u dont know wich way to turn the wheel.I know because i learned to drive on a double. But great video.Sorry if there are mistakes my english is not so good.

  • @turosgaluska Oh and if u turn the wheel to left the cab will go to left but u will push the trailer to the right and if u turn the wheel to right the cab goes right but the trailer left.

  • @turosgaluska Thanks for comments. Anyway you seem a bit confused about this. It's not about turning the wheel, it's about the direction of the cab, which is the one pushing the trailer. It doesn't matter where you turn the wheel if the cab is still in another direction. Double or single trailer, you just have to keep in mind who is pushing who, forget about the wheel. Use the wheel just to put the cab in the right position to push the trailer properly, not to turn the trailer.

  • @turosgaluska Well, not impossible, you just have to know what to do with the cab so both trailers move at your will. In any case, its hard to back a double. Requires skill.

    Thanks for comment.

  • i don't find backing a truck that hard but there are some people that won't understand the basics, so, great job :)

next time try to back up into a small alley and turn 90 degrees to the dock. (with inside view. you can look outside but only when you are not moving, just like real life) :P

  • @WNxRadeon You mean something like this video? gtLUP39uoOQ :)

I did lots of backups like the one you mention, I love to put myself challenges and back into real small and tight places, always from inside view of course. For me is the coolest part of truck driving (at least in the game, the only place I drive them, lol).

    Thanks for comment, appreciated!

  • @Irreo i do the same i make my self challgenes

  • @joews91 Thanks for comment, appreciated. Keep up with those challenges. They are the best for self-learning. Real life is full of unexpected challenges, so the more you put to yourself in a game, the better if you pretend to be a trucker in real life. And if you don't, at least it's more fun than just doing the easy things the game tells you to do.

  • @Irreo yeah i agree matee

  • what is the game?

  • @thetruckman1 18 wheels of steel Haulin

  • nice movie

  • @B100NL Thanks, man, appreciated.

  • Yeah that's what you call jacking a trailer.

  • ya trailer wheels would have flat bald spots on them, thats if you didnt push em off the rims

still its a game so enjoy! its about the only time you can do a jack turn on the bitumen

    is this game pc only?

  • As far as I know it's only available for PC.

    Thanks for comment, appreciated.

  • THX!

  • Name of song? PLS.

  • @SnyperD1313 convoy by cw mccall

  • This game looks awsome :D

  • what a cock

  • how do you get the mirrors.

  • The virtual mirrors are opened with the F2 key. If you mean mirrors on truck, they don't actually work, but some mods have a texture with reflection, but doesn't reflect it all so it's useless.

  • can you send me a totorial on how to do truck and trailer mods because i don't know how to do them

  • u should try it with a BDF and a trailer or with a double trailer....... couse what u drive is the easiest to navigate

  • This is just a video explaining the basic rules that apply to a truckcab, pivot point and semitrailer, and has nothing to do with BDF trucks or doubles. I wasn't pretending to show habilities either. Anyway, I've got a couple of videos about doubles, and also tried BDFs, but of course is a game and reality is completely different. Who knows maybe one day I'm lucky enough to test it.

    Thanks for comment.

  • man u should try it with a real one....XD

  • Awsome Vid! Thanks for the Post!

  • can you make mods for 18 wheels long haul?

  • well u would be a good SWIFT driver lol

  • nice game i love it... where i can download it?

  • nice truck whats it called

  • I think it's the default Freightliner Cascadia that comes with the game. Well, it has a fiction name, but what I mean is that it isn't a mod, as far as I remember...

  • LOL!!

  • put your lights on but nice vid 5/5

  • Thanks for comment man, appreciated.

You know that I didn't realize about lights until now? lol. I always drive with them on, even on daylight, but I guess I chose the worst moment to record this... on night.

  • You kinda forgot to fold the trailer's legs and connect the power to it LOL... what game is that? Looks freaking awesome.

  • Thanks for comment man.

Yeah it's a cool game. It's called "18 Wheels of Steel, Haulin"

  • nice!

  • Thanks man, appreciated.

  • How do you get your game to be so smooth? I'm using up only a quarter of my disc space on my PC. And Have nothing on it. So what am I doing wrong?

  • I don't know... I don't have problems at all, maybe it's the computer. It's nothing special but it's not really old, so maybe that helps... Update all your drivers and try, but maybe has to do with video card or something like that... good luck.

  • true

  • Thanks for your comment man. I specially appreciate the part where you described why it's g*y and how could I improve it. Really helped me understanding. Thanks again for such constructive and intelligent comment.

  • I think this is a pretty good 'instructional' video ! Shows what happens if you over steer. Also shows the theory of 'doing it in reverse'. Even a novice should understand that ! The main thing is ''Don't use any more angle than you have to''. I am a professional HGV class 1 driver of 30 years experience . (I'm British.). I thought that was pretty much bang on !! Good one !

  • Thanks for your comment man, I really appreciate that, specially coming from a pro like you.

  • your the WORST truck driver i've ever seen

    TruckerTyler

  • Thanks for your honest opinion man. Also, any explanations to why? I would appreciate that, so I can do it better next time.

  • yeah you need to be less sharp on your turns and you dont show people by pushing your trailer....Some people just aren't made to drive trucks, its okay

    Trucker Tyler

  • Man, this video it's just theory, explanation, a show of how a trailer behaves when backing, and why it does move like that, depending on how you reverse with the cab (push backwards, that's why I *PUSH* forward, as example, it's something called tutorial, and it's a game). The "real" reverse is on the last seconds of video.

I know 90º reverses are not the best for the tires but they have to be done sometimes.

    Regards.

  • i have a steering wheel too but i can never get the settings right to make it turn like you

  • I don't know what you exactly mean with get the settings right to turn like me... with a steering wheel you just steer a lot or a little. If it moves like too much or too slow, try changing the sensibility settings on the options menu. But maybe it also depends on your steering wheel (meaning quality).

  • haha that bs you actully have to reverse it. coz you just. stuffed up and damaged your load.. when i get my cam ill show you how its done.

  • Didn't I reverse it? Man, I think you didn't get the point of the video at all, neither watchet it completely.

  • mate obviosly you wouln't do that, he is showing you were the trailer goes when you push in one direction or the other...you didn't get the moral of the video, its for newbies not profetionals mate lol

  • Hey, thanks for your comment man. Sadly I think lot of people got it wrong and though I was trying to back the semi just pushing it with the cab :/ ... weird.

As you said, it was just a demo to try making understand how a backing works. Once you know, it seems easy, but when I remember how hard it was when I first tried it, is when I relize that is not as easy as it seems. Anyway is good to know that it was useful to some people.

  • the i no that but ima tell you how to you reseverse like a pro =] first you make sure ur trucks in first. dont take it out of first no mater what! Now dont reverse straight.

Reverse straight but keep your truck on an angle .. there you go. all down.. and you wont damage anything

  • mate its not that easy, your trailer could go off to one side and you have to make it straight when your backing it onto a bay because you get a higher parking bonus

  • its like that but its not that hard lol but it could go to one side

  • man u spent lot of time on this. thx heaps. very useful

  • I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for your comment.

  • how can i see the glass on the side=?

/see out of the side window?

  • What do you mean exactly? I don't understand your question... you mean look right and look left? If that's what you mean, you got two buttons that do that. Check your configuration options, as I don't remember them now (I use the buttons on my steering wheel for that).

  • its diffrent,but i like it,lol,nice vid man

  • what is the gam name

  • It says on the first 3 seconds of the video...

  • the name of the game is "18 WHEELS OF STEEL HUALIN".just google it you should find it,if you have any trouble let me know, hope it helps,

  • I'm learning this in a Mack Truck now (steer wheel on RHS). Thank you for helping people with this.

  • Thanks, I'm glad it was useful for you. I someday plan to get my truck driving license, so I also hope all this gaming was useful for something!

  • Awesomeness! :) I followed the whole thing (even printed out a few pointers) and usually I now get the trailer in the place I want it to be! Thanks buddy =D

  • Thanks for your comment man. I'm glad it was useful for someone! Now you know your next step: double backing! :D

  • yes single very easy get a doubles vid up

  • Well it's not so easy for some people, specially those who didn't get the trick yet, or starters. That's why I did this video (it would have helped me on my starts too). About the double thing, I started doing it, but I guess I didn't master the technique yet so I won't make a video until I feel I can do a good tutorial explaining the basics.

  • ya lol id like to know how to do double i usually just go up spin around and drive it in staright

  • The basic is the same as a single. But in this case, the second trailer is "pushed" by the first one. So you have to think where you want your second trailer to go, and put the first trailer in the proper position to do so. But to do that you also have to place the truck first. It requires slow, gentle and well though moves. But it's not that hard.

    Check this: or6VY7WBRKQ

    Or this: 6xGRv0oTK3Q

  • The opposite theory is right & is the best way to remember how to reverse a vehicle with a trailer on the back, I have been reversing a big tractor with a long trailer on the back tonight & it is much easier than you think, & if anyone says video games aren't useful, I learned the steering for it from san andreas lol.

Just don't put the vehicle towing the trailer at too big an angle to the trailer itself or you will be unable to correct the steering.

  • You are right, but I don't agree at all with the last thing you say. You can put the angle as big as you want (but +90º angle is not recomended at all because you could break cables, spoilers or something), and to correct steering after big angles/turns you just need to stop, move forward adjusting the truck, and back again, so trailer doesn't turn at all. Check this to see what I mean: hUKpTsTY5Eg

  • yawn yawn that was boring didnt interest me at all you are rubbish

  • Show a little respect, kid. I can accept that it doesn't interest you, and also accept that you call the video rubbish, but not that you call me that, so take it easy.

  • u have to keep followin the trailer

  • gd enough video

but u DON'T push the trailer with the front of the truck because it damages the trailer so less money u get paid and also it damages the truck u could made this 4 mins long because the rest was kinda pointless but anyway way wat eva

  • If you read the text on the video, it's obvious that it's a tutorial explaining how the physics work on truck+trailer. The pushing with front was not showing how to back, it was demonstrating how a trailer reacts when you push it from different angles, meaning that you have to do the same when backing, but with the back of your truck, obviously... The only REAL backing on this video are the last seconds...

    But thanks for your comment.

  • im sorry for my comment i didnt read it correctly as for the reasons u say then it is the perfect vid

  • Nah it's OK maybe I didn't get things clear from the start of the video, as this is the second or third comment telling that "this is not how you back". The target of this video are those that still don't understand how a trailer reacts when backing, or why. I'm one of those that thinks that you must first understand the theory (why things happen) so you can apply it on reality, instead of just move the wheel to see if you are lucky and it goes fine.

  • yea true true me and u are making same type of vids then

    helping people understand haulin

  • Hi Irreo

I had the chance to down load part of this Sim, the detail is incredible, it took a while to get used to the control input but once mastered it was brilliant. Sandbag means the opportunity play freely, no money or time constraints

  • Well the best for this game is an steering wheel, but it all depends in if you want to spend 140$.

And about sandbag... well, as you may have seen the game is free-play, but of course you need money to buy trucks and pay fuel. It you get out of money is Game Over, but it doesn't happen unless you break the law too much at start and get lots of fines from the police.

  • Okay Irreo, does this game hav a sandbag mode so you can have a bit of fun before you hit the roads 10:10

  • I'm sorry I don't know what you exactly mean by "sandbag". If you mean something like "free mode"... well, the whole game is free mode. There is noone to beat or kill, there are no timers. You can just pick a single delivery (pick, haul, leave the load) or play a campaing mode, where you get more money as you do deliveries, and hire your own drivers so they also make you money while you keep driving. So there is no real objetive, just drive.

    Hope that helped.

  • I'll show you how to do it and its "Turn your wheel towards your mistake" Thats no way how to back up a trailer in game man you need some help!!!

  • Ok I would appreciate a little more explanation than "thats no way how to back up", maybe mentioning what I did SO wrong, and also telling why. I know I may not be the best, neither even "good" at it. It's just a tutorial about mechanics for those that didn't get the basic idea of it yet. So, please enlighten me.

  • lol tim your so harsh.....

  • Hey, I love those mirrors. I've never seen that before! I am diggin that music. Great job Irreo.

  • Thanks ZT, appreciated.

Those mirrors are cool to drive and steer better, but unfortunately aren't very "realistic".

  • Never try this at home i ahve been in trucks for years with ym dad and you will mess up every time causeing a lot of damage.
